RE: In view of R. Metzger's words to the pope, can Rabbi METZGER HIMSELF, and the rabbis as well, please explain exactly what he means, and whether he SUPPORTS, or OPPOSES, INTERNATIONALIZATION OF JERUSALEM? VERY IMPORTANT, thank you, DS

From S.I.R.

DID THEY ADD THESE WORDS, OR WERE THOSE THE WORDS OF RABBI METZGER?

"a UN of religions, IN SUPPORT OF THE UN OF DIPLOMATS AND MEN OF STATE"?

14:39 - THE POPE IN ISRAEL: RABBI YONA METZGER TO THE POPE, "LET'S CREATE A UN OF RELIGIONS"
Jews and Christians joining forces in saying to all the religious leaders that "it is not with terror that they achieve their goals, it is not by killing innocent people that they represent their God. Because God is a merciful God and orders all of us to respect and love every person, including those who do not belong to our religion". This was said this morning by the Head Rabbi (Ashkenazi) of Israel, Yona Metzger, to Pope Benedict XVI, during his visit to the High Rabbinate in Jerusalem. "Just one thing – said the Rabbi – threatens us all: using religion as a means to kill innocent people". In greeting the Pope, Metzger made a proposal: that of joining forces to create an "international organisation, a UN of religions, in support of the UN of diplomats and men of State. There, next to each other, the representatives of all religions will sit at the same table". The purpose of the organisation would be to resolve "conflicts and differences of opinions resulting from religious causes. All this based on faith in the only God that created us".

" As I have proposed in past, we should have a type of United Nations for religions, where representatives of all religions, including those that don't have diplomatic relations between them, can sit around one table and talk".
