Vatican stunned by Irish embassy closure

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Catholic Ireland's stunning decision to close its embassy to the Vatican is a huge blow to the Holy See's prestige and may be followed by other countries which feel the missions are too expensive, diplomatic sources said on Friday.

The closure brought relations between Ireland and the Vatican, once ironclad allies, to an all-time low following the row earlier this year over the Irish Church's handling of sex abuse cases and accusations that the Vatican had encouraged secrecy.

Ireland will now be the only major country of ancient Catholic tradition without an embassy in the Vatican.

"This is really bad for the Vatican because Ireland is the first big Catholic country to do this and because of what Catholicism means in Irish history," said a Vatican diplomatic source who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

He said Ireland informed the Vatican shortly before the announcement was made on Thursday night.

Dublin's foreign ministry said the embassy was being closed because "it yields no economic return" and that relations would be continued with an ambassador in Dublin.

The source said the Vatican was "extremely irritated" by the wording equating diplomatic missions with economic return, particularly as the Vatican sees its diplomatic role as promoting human values.

Diplomats said the Irish move might sway others to follow suit to save money because double diplomatic presences in Rome are expensive.

It was the latest crack in relations that had been seen as rock solid until a few years ago.

DAMNING REPORT

In July, the Vatican took the highly unusual step of recalling its ambassador to Ireland after Prime Minister Enda Kenny accused the Holy See of obstructing investigations into sexual abuse by priests.

The Irish parliament passed a motion deploring the Vatican's role in "undermining child protection frameworks" following publication of a damning report on the diocese of Cloyne.

The Cloyne report said Irish clerics concealed from the authorities the sexual abuse of children by priests as recently as 2009, after the Vatican disparaged Irish child protection guidelines in a letter to Irish bishops.

While Foreign Minister Eamon Gilmore denied the embassy closure was linked to the row over sexual abuse, Rome-based diplomats said they believed it probably played a major role.

"All things being equal, I really doubt the mission to the Vatican would have been on the list to get the axe without the fallout from the sex abuse scandal," one ambassador to the Vatican said, on condition of anonymity.

Cardinal Sean Brady, the head of the Catholic Church in Ireland, said he was profoundly disappointed by the decision and hoped the government would "revisit" it.

"This decision seems to show little regard for the important role played by the Holy See in international relations and of the historic ties between the Irish people and the Holy See over many centuries," Brady said in a statement.

The Vatican has been an internationally recognised sovereign city-state since 1929, when Italy compensated the Catholic Church for a vast area of central Italy known as the Papal States that was taken by the state at Italian unification in 1860.

It has diplomatic relations with 179 countries. About 80 have resident ambassadors and the rest are based in other European cities.

The Vatican guards its diplomatic independence fiercely and in the past has resisted moves by some countries to locate their envoys to the Holy See inside their embassies to Italy.

Dublin said it was closing its mission to the Vatican along with those in Iran and East Timor to help meet its fiscal goals under an EU-IMF bailout. The closures will save the government 1.25 million euros (864 thousand pounds) a year.

On the other hand, Rav Y.H. from Jerusalem said:' brilliant", as a comment to my post, so it seems that my take might not be entirely far-fetched, although it would seem unlikely, I must admit, that Rome could be Edom while the pope himself is Gog. Mi-Gog, yes, absolutely. Yet, Chazal surmise that Magog is a separate entity, a separate land. According to the commentary of Rav Breuer, it is somewhere in Russia. I guess there are as many opinions as there are commentators. But yours makes eminent sense, specially seeing what is happening today. Although I do contend that the pope and Obama work hand in hand, with the pope higher than Obama, since Obama is obviously receiving orders from others, CFR, etc. who are subservient to Rome. So, here is how I understand these events:

This past Shabbat morning, Chol Hamoed Succoth, in every synagogue worldwide, just before - and while - the violence and firebombings in Rome were taking place, we read parts of Chapters 38 and 39 of the Book of Yechezkel ( Ezekiel), which deal with the End of Days and the war of Gog and Magog. In addition, on the first day of Succoth we read the prophecy of Zechariah on the same topic; they each have a different slant, with Zechariah dwelling on what will happen to the participants and their victims in those momentous and terrible times. I want to focus on the prophecy of Yechezkel, which deals only with what will happen to Gog and his world armies, when they come to attack Jerusalem and Israel in order to despoil her of her riches.

גּוֹג - Gog: the explanation given by Chazal for the name of the leader of the nations against Israel at the End of Days is that his name comes from the Hebrew root word "Gag", which means "roof". Jews celebrate Succoth with a Succah, an impermanent, fragile dwelling whose roof is made of branches only, a symbolic reminder that our security and safety come from God's protection alone. On the other hand, Gog and his followers feel very secure in their imposing buildings and physical structures, in their "roofs", believing in their permanence.

 Now, as to who Gog is: from all Chazal's explanations I have read, it appears to me that Gog is a direct descendant of Jepheth, the second son of Noah. He is the CHIEF, the HEAD of Japheth's sons. Who was the oldest of Jepheth's sons? Gomer, or GERMANY.

Don't be fooled by appearances: when you see Muslims attacking Israel, think first and foremost "GREATER ROME" alliance, because for sure Rome is involved. And WHO is the undisputable leader of the Western world since Roman times? Yes, indeed, it is THE POPE, in this case, the GERMAN, GOMER, G-G Benedikt, together with his partner the "Black Pope", the Jesuit General, Generale dei Gesuiti, G-G, ג ג, Gag, or Gog, who some claim is even more powerful that the pope himself.
 

Interesting to note that the Gematria of Gag, roof, is 3-3; there is a lot of symbolism to the number 33 in Catholicism, particularly as it relates to the Jesuits and their oaths, ( 33rd degree masons), etc. On the other hand, GOG,  גּוֹג,  is 3-6-3 , reduced to 3, the famous trinity of the Catholic church.

In my previous posts, I had written about the various PLAGUES that Hashem sent the pope, a reminder of the Plagues that beset Pharaoh during the Exodus from Egypt. Indeed, the Midrash, Tanchuma Bo 4, also links the Plagues of the Exodus to this passage in Ezekiel's prophecies.

In my previous posts, I had enumerated the various plagues. (See the label 'the Ten plagues' for details). So this plague of fire and violence which just attacked Rome in its most sensitive, spiritual spot, right in front of St John Lateran Church, the HEAD of the Catholic Church, would be plague number 6 ( 3+3)! Interesting, isn't it?

It is also interesting to note that during those riots, the ROOF of the Italian Ministry of Defense COLLAPSED! Now what could be more symbolic than that?

I had mentioned earlier, during the plague that hit the Abruzzi, a massive earthquake that destroyed all the pope's churches in the papal estates, Erev Pessach during Birkat Hachamah, that somehow ROME itself had been spared. Not this time: this time, Rome, and ONLY Rome, of all the cities in the world, was touched; also, major symbols of the Catholic church's idolatries, a statue of Mary, a crucifix, were destroyed. The innocent participants of the rampage sought refuge in the church of St- John Lateran, the HEAD AND MOTHER OF THE CATHOLIC WORLD, which came within a hair of being destroyed itself. Instead, Hashem had mercy, and only a small side church was vandalized - for now (let me add that it saddens me to see innocent ITALIAN Romans having to pay the price for the sins of Rome the CHURCH; what can you do? Whoever lives in the vicinity of such evil can only expect the worst).

But the fire is getting closer and closer to the pope himself. Where will the seventh plague hit, if German-Gomer (G-G)  Benedikt - with his evil Jesuit General (G-G) Black Pope - persists in his ways?

(By the way, is the Jesuit General MAgog??? In real life, he has historically been the instigator, the force behind the force; as Chazal explains, in the name Magog, מָגוֹג, the letter מָ, Mem, signifies the active principle behind the action, the agent, the one who makes the other do it. Interestingly, also, the Gematria of Magog is  40+3=6+3 = 52, which, reduced, amounts to 7: will the seventh plague overwhelmingly affect the Jesuits??? It should be interesting to follow.)

After all, it is the GREAT INQUISITOR BENEDIKT who started the worldwide wave of antisemitism that is sweeping the world ( see previous posts, starting May 2009). He rules the US. Right now, just as Shalit was freed in exchange for over a thousand terrorists in a cruel and extremely dangerous deal, it is the UN that is protesting that ONLY 100 terrorists are returning to Judea and Samaria. If it were for the UN, they would ALL be released to Judea and Samaria, better to kill, murder, maim and kidnap Jews with. It might still happen, if they have their way with Bibi, as they have had until now. And WHO is the spiritual leader of the UN? But the pope, of course.

Radiation from a badly damaged nuclear power plant has been released into the air in Japan, and began blowing into Tokyo. Officials warned people within 30 kilometers of the plant to remain indoors.

The level of radiation in Tokyo is not thought to be an immediate threat to human health, but some expressed concern for the possible long-term effects.

Japan was hit by one of the largest earthquakes in recorded history late last week, which was followed by a massive tsunami that has left tens of thousands of people dead or missing. The two disasters caused heavy damage to several nuclear power plants, and workers are scrambling to contain the damage and prevent a meltdown.

I posted earlier that they donated over one billion dollars in all, a meager sum ( 40 million dollars for the Jordan Valley alone), but I did not know that they actually physically helped the beasts. I am not surprised, though; just like Spain, they appear to be a front for Rome.

I bet you that with their donation - as well as their physical presence - they were proxies for the Vatican, as their financial ties with Rome are very tight. See the scandal of the 134 billion dollars in bonds smuggled from the Vatican to the Swiss border by  Japanese businessmen.

  That time they were caught, but how many times were they not? They obviously receive enormous sums from Rome, to be disbursed at will. I have the written testimony of one investor in Australia who met some investment bankers in Hong-Kong, whose job it was to transfer Vatican money illegally ( laundering Vatican money, with other words), among other things.

I see Japanese tourists in Hevron from time to time; I always assumed that they belonged to the friendly sect of Japanese who identify with Judaism ( I forgot their name). Now considering Japan's ties with Rome, I am thinking that maybe some of them came with evil intent.

WASHINGTON (AFP) – A record-breaking blizzard dumped thick snow across the US east coast Saturday, paralyzing the region and snapping power to hundreds of thousands of people, as two people were killed on the roads.
The monster storm, dubbed "Snowpocalypse" and "Snowmageddon," stretched hundreds of miles from eastern Indiana across into Pennsylvania and then down through Maryland as far south as North Carolina.
With winds gusting at almost 60 miles (90 kilometers) an hour, meteorologists said they had recorded snowfall as high as 38 inches (96 centimeters) in parts of northern Maryland -- a historic high for the state.
The heavy, sticky snow toppled trees and sagged power lines, leaving more than 350,000 people without electricity in Maryland and neighboring Virginia, officials said.
"Snowmageddon here in DC," President Barack Obama told Democrats in a speech, only a year after chiding the capital city for its cautious response to small snowfalls.
Forecasters warned residents to hunker down, with no let-up in the weather for most of the day, and said chilly temperatures on Sunday would mean the wet snow would swiftly turn icy. Related article: Monster US storm boon for forecasters: expert
"It's hanging on, and hanging on," Paul Kochin, an expert in northeast weather systems with the National Weather Service, told AFP.
"Officially this won't break records in DC, but unofficially, you bet it will. It's very rare to have two such big storms in one season," he said, after the capital region was already crippled by a smaller storm in December.
Maryland, followed by neighboring Virginia, were bearing the brunt of the storm and seeing the highest snowfalls, he said.

"It's pretty rough out there," agreed Ed McDonough from the Maryland Emergency Management Agency.
"The roads are very difficult to travel... and we are seeing a spike in power outages. We are telling local residents to stay home, enjoy the time with their families and let the highway crews do their work."
Emergency crews struggled to repair the power outages hampered by the miserable weather.
"We have a lot of scattered outages and the road conditions are not really working with us," admitted Pepco spokesman Andre Francis, pleading for patience as some customers were told the blackouts could last days.
Some 200 National Guardsmen had been deployed across Maryland, while in Virginia police confirmed that a father and son were killed Friday when they stopped to help a stranded car.
Police in the state had responded to some 3,167 calls for help, more than two-thirds of which were due to car accidents or stranded vehicles.
Three state troopers were also injured in storm-related accidents. Virginia was also opening up public shelters in local schools for those without power.

Alix Lawe, who works with the US Air Force, was out for a run in the snow, and told AFP: "It's so fun. I'm from Florida, I've never seen so much snow."
Snow plows were out trying to keep emergency routes and main highways clear, but most officials said it would take days to reach the smaller streets, and warned of a difficult Monday morning commute.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has put the Washington-Baltimore metropolitan area under a rare 24-hour blizzard warning until 10:00 pm Saturday (0300 GMT Sunday).
All flights out of the capital's Reagan National airport were cancelled, along with most flights out of Dulles International Airport in Virginia, while there was a limited service at Baltimore.
A hangar roof collapsed at the Dulles Jet Center early Saturday according to Rob Yengling, Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority spokesman. Five people spending the night inside to shelter from the storm escaped without injuries.
The capital's subway system has shut down 40 above ground stations, meaning transport links between Washington and its heavily-populated suburbs were snapped with most major roads impassable, knocking out bus services.
But some people were determined to enjoy the winter's second biggest storm in the area, with 5,000 turning out for a mass snowball fight in central Washington.

Washington shuts down, buried in record snowfall

Flights are grounded and power outages are widespread as the capital slumbers under more than 32 inches of snow.

A prolonged blizzard covered Washington, D.C., and the mid-Atlantic states in a smothering canvas of snow Saturday, grounding planes and triggering widespread power outages as people across the region turned to skis and sleds to traverse icy roads.

The storm proved a major disruption, with above-ground subways and buses in the Washington area shutting down and stores closing en masse in the face of a storm destined to go down as one of the major snowfalls in the area's history.

As of late afternoon, a total of 32.4 inches was recorded at Dulles International Airport outside of Washington, according to the National Weather Service. That two-day accumulation topped the previous record, compiled during the blizzard of January 1996, the weather service said.

Hundreds of thousands of homes in Maryland, Virginia and elsewhere lost power. Trees toppled under the snow's weight, blocking roads. Snowplows worked overtime to keep the streets cleared. Flights were canceled at Washington's major airports.

Not even the presidential motorcade was able to navigate the city's streets unscathed. An ambulance hit an SUV in the motorcade before President Obama's entourage left the White House on Saturday morning to address the Democratic National Committee at a hotel several blocks away. No one was hurt.

At the event, Obama asked after the whereabouts of Rep. Michael M. Honda (D-San Jose). "He's on his way," Obama said. "He's still shoveling."

While the president normally portrays himself as a hardy Chicagoan accustomed to bad weather, even he seemed impressed by the storm's ferocity. He called the blizzard "Snowmaggedon."

The storm created some otherworldly moments in the Washington area, with people moving up and down side streets on cross-country skis and solitary pedestrians trudging along the middle of major roads, clutching groceries purchased in the few convenience stores that remained open.

An Alexandria, Va., woman had wrapped her small dog in a sweater and taken him -- reluctantly -- for a walk. After disappearing in a foot of snow, the dog "gave me a look like, 'Are you crazy?' " she said.

Rather than stay inside and clean her house, Laurie Thompson, 55, of Alexandria chose to put on her hiking boots and go out for a walk, camera in hand. She described the storm as at once "horrible" and "beautiful."

A few blocks away, a tree weighted down with snow had snapped at the base and fallen across a side street, creating an impassable barrier.

The blizzard followed a storm Dec. 19 that dropped more than 16 inches on the area. Washington has gotten more than a foot of snow only 13 times since 1870, according to the weather service.

Assessing the damage Saturday, some residents seemed stunned.

In Silver Spring, Md., the sheer volume of wet, heavy snow ripped a metal awning attached to Dan Steinberg's colonial-style home. "This is crazy," he said.

In the nation's capital, impassable sidewalks along 16th Street Northwest, a vital north-south artery, forced pedestrians into the middle of the street. Snowplows struggled. Snowboarders and skiers traveled down a hill in the Adams Morgan neighborhood.

Some of the brave few who did venture outdoors in the nation's capital were met with disappointment at one local Starbucks: A sign said the shop would remain closed until further notice.

The Hudson and Delaware valleys were spared the "Snowmageddon" that buried Washington and a swath of the East Coast Saturday and possibly broke decades-old records.

The Americans (and the whole world) tend to think that we are the masters of our lives and have only an occasional inconvenience of a tornado, blizzard, hurricane, earthquake, etc. to cause us to miss a stride, but then we catch our breath, bring a remedy to the situation, and we just pick rightup where we left off. Not one thought is given to the fact that the LORD speaks to us through these "natural" "disasters".

John McTernan, an Irish-Catholic cop, who left the harlot and became a Bible-believing Christion, documents numerous instances over the past decade or so when various "natural" diasters in the US like tornadoes, hurricanes and floods occurred precisely on the day, or perhaps a day later hit areas of this country when our federal government (e.g., president , state department) made rulings, decisions, etc. that were a curse to Israel. There have been dozens of these events and McTernan correlates them to various actions against Israel with regard to its sovereignty over the land.

Americans are headed for destruction because they have forsaken the God of Israel and are continuing to so to speak "poke their finger" in the "apple of God's eye", which is Israel. My friend, I expect under this wicked administration to see the LORD really begin to devastate the US...in 2010 and even much more so in 2011.
