The coronavirus epidemic looks nasty, it is spreading, G-d knows when it will reach our shores, so we better be prepared. Listen to this damning interview, which will show you that since 2009 nothing has changed, except this one might actually be the real, dangerous deal. This guy, although clearly not our friend, is nevertheless quite knowledgeable about biological weapons, I would take what he says seriously. BE PREPARED and be safe!

Washington Post: U.S. Congress engineered DEA racket to protect Big Pharma’s opioid drug giants

(Natural News) Although best known for publishing fake news or being forced give back a Pulitzer prize after being caught committing fake journalism, the Washington Post occasionally stumbles across an actual news story. Over the weekend, the Post published a story that reads almost exactly like Natural News a decade ago, accusing the U.S. Congress of conspiring with drug companies to hobble the DEA by erecting a protection racket for prescription opioid profits.

“In April 2016, at the height of the deadliest drug epidemic in U.S. history, Congress effectively stripped the Drug Enforcement Administration of its most potent weapon against large drug companies suspected of spilling prescription narcotics onto the nation’s streets,” says the article by Scott Higham and Lenny Bernstein. “A handful of members of Congress, allied with the nation’s major drug distributors, prevailed upon the DEA and the Justice Department to agree to a more industry-friendly law, undermining efforts to stanch the flow of pain pills…”

The WaPo story goes on:

The law was the crowning achievement of a multifaceted campaign by the drug industry to weaken aggressive DEA enforcement efforts against drug distribution companies that were supplying corrupt doctors and pharmacists who peddled narcotics to the black market. The industry worked behind the scenes with lobbyists and key members of Congress, pouring more than a million dollars into their election campaigns.

Of course, knowing that the Washington Post is capable of fabricating fake sources out of thin air — as in the paper’s fake news “Russia conspiracy” hoax narrative — we have to take all this with a grain of salt. Also keep in mind that, with this story, the Washington Post is asserting the existence of a massive drug cartel conspiracy involving Congress, drug companies and the DEA.

Ten years ago, I was ridiculed for asserting much the same thing, yet today this news blankets the pages of the Washington Post. Let’s look more closely at the structure of this drug cartel conspiracy the Post says is operating in America today, because as it turns out, WaPo actually got this story right.

Republican lawmakers are front men for Big Pharma’s illicit drug cartel

The Big Pharma opioid drug cartel protection racket was put in place by Rep. Tom Marino, a Republican, says the Post. That same story also names Republican Senator Orrin Hatch as complicit in the negotiation of the final language of the bill. Knowing the extreme dishonesty of the Washington Post’s fake journalism, there were probably all sorts of Democrats involved in this bill as well, but they didn’t bother to include them in the story, since everything the Post publishes is engineered to demonize Republicans rather than report all the relevant news facts.

“The new law makes it virtually impossible for the DEA to freeze suspicious narcotic shipments from the companies,” says the Post. “Political action committees representing the industry contributed at least $1.5 million to the 23 lawmakers who sponsored or co-sponsored four versions of the bill,” the article says, once again refusing to name any Democrats who received money from the drug industry. However, the Post does admit that President Obama signed it into law, adding that “top officials at the White House and the Justice Department have declined to discuss how the bill came to pass.”

Loretta Lynch, former attorney general and now widely known to be a treasonous cover-up artist who secretly met with Bill Clinton before shutting down any prosecution of Hillary Clinton for obstruction of justice (she deleted 33,000+ emails, remember?), “declined a recent interview request,” reports the Post.

The Washington Post runs head first into a massive government cover-up

“The DEA and Justice Department have denied or delayed more than a dozen requests filed by The Post and ’60 Minutes’ under the Freedom of Information Act for public records that might shed additional light on the matter,” says the Post.

When the Washington Post attempted to interview Rep. Tom Marino, his staff called the Capitol Police as a warning to reporters. Blocked at every turn, the Post says it is now suing the DOJ for documents that should have been released under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).

In other words, the Washington Post, a pro big-government paper that almost universally believes government can do no wrong, is suddenly finding out just how corrupt, incompetent and dangerous a government racket can truly become. When big pharma’s billions of dollars get funneled into the pockets of greedy Washington lawmakers, the health of the entire nation is put at risk while powerful corporations are granted a kind of “legal immunity” while dealing dangerous drugs.

As the Post reports:

Today, Rannazzisi is a consultant for a team of lawyers suing the opioid industry. Separately, 41 state attorneys general have banded together to investigate the industry. Hundreds of counties, cities and towns also are suing. “This is an industry that’s out of control. If they don’t follow the law in drug supply, and diversion occurs, people die. That’s just it, people die,” he said.

A key reason for the cover-up, of course, is that government officials routinely take jobs with the very same drug companies they previously regulated. Via the Post:

In 2011, Linden Barber left the DEA to join the Washington, D.C., office of the law firm Quarles & Brady. He started a practice representing drug companies. “If you have a DEA compliance issue or you’re facing a government investigation,” he said in a promotional video for the firm, “I’d be happy to hear from you.”

Barber’s move turned out to be a key moment in the struggle between drug companies and the government, but it was far from the only one. Dozens of top officials from the DEA and Justice Department have stepped through Washington’s revolving door to work for drug companies.

The DEA, in other words, quickly became nothing more than an extension of the Big Pharma drug cartel. This is known as a regulatory “captive” structure, where regulatory agencies such as the FDA, EPA, USDA and DEA very quickly become “captured” by the very industry they once claimed the regulate. As Natural News readers know very well, nearly every federal regulatory body has already been overrun by powerful industry interests.

The EPA, for example, is one of the top polluters in America, routinely “legalizing” toxic pesticides and herbicides that poison consumers and the environment. The USDA is a front group for the GMO biotech industry, and the FDA is nothing but a fake science cover for the corrupt, criminally-run pharmaceutical industry. The CDC, similarly, is a fake science front for the vaccine industry.

As far as the DEA goes, the independent media has been publishing stories for years that document how the DEA is running the drugs in America. It’s the DEA that grants certain drug cartels immunity from prosecution, of course, while taking down competing organizations in an effort to build near-monopoly drug cartels. Asset seizure laws also allowed the DEA to profit from taking down drug-running cells that were previously allowed to grow and prosper in order to build up assets that eventually became worth seizing. In effect, the DEA has been running a “drug cartel farming operation” in America.

Now, thanks to the Washington Post’s investigation, we learn that the DEA directly negotiated with the drug industry to grant opioid manufacturers selective immunity from criminal seizure and prosecution. Is anyone really surprised? This has been the DEA’s business model for decades.

The following graphic, published by the Washington Post, reveals that at least 56 DEA and Justice Dept. officials left their government jobs to work for the pharmaceutical industry:

In other words, America has become a narco-pharma state, and the infiltration of government by powerful, drug-dealing corporations is now complete. The drug pushers are running Congress and the regulators. They’re also running nearly the entire mainstream media, which is why independent media organizations like Natural News were a full decade ahead of the Washington Post in sounding the alarm on this sort of collusion. (What the mainstream media is just now waking up to, Natural News already reported in 2007 or earlier.)

Congress keeps medical marijuana criminalized to protect the profits of the corrupt opioid drug industry

Once you fully grasp the depth of collusion between the opioid drug cartels, Congress and the DEA, it’s not difficult to figure out why they’ve all conspired to keep medical marijuana, CBD and hemp extracts illegal at the federal level. The protection racket requires anything that competes with prescription opioids to be criminalized.

It’s all about limiting consumers’ options and funneling them into a life of personal addiction and Big Pharma profits. As long as the money keeps rolling in, federal workers will keep taking jobs with the drug industry, exploiting their contacts and influence in Washington to keep their toxic, deadly drugs flowing into the hands of vulnerable Americans. At the same time, every effort will be undertaken to keep medical marijuana illegal, thereby denying citizens and veterans an affordable, safe and highly effective option for pain control.

It has taken until 2017 for the mainstream media to finally admit all this is happening. The deep state collusion and conspiracy is now finally being covered by the Washington Post and 60 Minutes. A Tale of Two Stories: The European BioWar outbreak and the censoring of it by the mainstream news media.

The biggest story on the Planet today is the outbreak of a very serious Advanced Biological War virus in Europe.

The second biggest story on the Planet is the suppression of this story for almost two weeks by the corporate owned mainstream news media.

There is a lot we know and a lot that we can only speculate on about what is unfolding in Central Europe. We know that in mid-October, less than a month ago, there was a growing number of cases of what many thought was Swine Flu (A/H1N1) in the western part of the Ukraine. We know that many hundreds if not thousands of people in western Ukraine witnessed low flying light airplanes aerosol spraying something over

Ukrainian cities during the days of October 29, 2009 and October 31, 2009.

We know that beginning the night of October 29th, massive

numbers of people begin to get very sick. We know that the Ukraine

government issued a statement denying that it was doing any aerial

spraying to combat the growing disease or authorizing any spraying

over Ukrainian cities. We know that by October 30th, the Ukrainian

authorities closed all schools for three weeks and banded public

gatherings.

We do NOT know what disease the people were/are coming down with. We

do know that doctors are describing the disease as Pneumonic Plague,

or as some type of hemorrhagic fever, or as hemorrhagic influenza, or

as hemorrhagic pneumonia. We know that the illness, whatever it is,

does not appear to be A/H1N1. We do not know if the disease is a

recombination of A/H1N1 with other viruses or some totally different

virus or if it is in fact a virus. We know that the World Health

Organization (WHO) has had several days to sequence the genes of the

disease but has failed to release this data.

We know that WHO has NOT called for the quarantining of the Ukraine

or the shutdown of all global travel to/from the area of infection and

that this is the same thing that they did when Mexican Swine Flu

(A/H1N1) first broke out and that the failure to contain that virus

early on ensured its spread throughout the world.

We know that the internal temperature of the lungs of those with a

terminal case of what many are calling 'Ukrainian Plague' is often

from 130F to 135F. We do know that autopsies show that the lungs are

filled with blood, and are black in color, and that the lung tissue

has turned to mush. We know that patients who first show any signs of

illness usually crash in less than 48 hours, sometimes the same day.

We know that the disease was spreading by about 200,000 per day but

that this has slowed to about 100,000 day now, in the Ukraine, as

people take extraordinary steps to contain the spread of the disease.

We know that well over one and a third million people in the Ukraine

are very ill with the disease (according to published official

sources) and that over 60,000 are hospitalized in serious to critical

condition. We know that the disease has a very high transmission rate

with a likely low amount of viral (if it is in fact a virus) material

needed to cause an infection. We know that the official reports of

deaths are under 300 in the Ukraine. We also know that it is normal

for hospital admissions of people with ARI (acute respiratory

infection) to have a fatality rate of from 5% to 10%. We know that

non-official sources were reporting over 3,000 deaths several days ago

and that this number is more in tune with the 5-10% fatality rate than

the official figures.

We do not know what effective treatments are for this illness. We do

know that young adults seem to be more in danger of this illness. We

suspect that 'cytokine storming' similar to that in the 1918 Spanish

Flu, that killed approximately 50 million people, is taking place.

We know from official Ukrainian Health Ministry reports that the

illness does not test out as Mexican Swine Flu (A/H1N1). We do not

know if the existing Swine Flu vaccine has any effect, but based on

the non-positive response to Swine Flu in testing, we suspect that the

vaccine is ineffective as the viral protean shell is different than

A/H1N1 (if in fact it is a virus that causes the illness).

We know that the illness has spread to Poland, where over one quarter

of a million people are now very ill. We know that it has spread to

Belarus and to Hungary and elsewhere in central Europe. We know that

900,000 people are said to have Swine Flu in Norway but we do not know

if this is related to Ukraine Plague in any way.

We know that on November 8th a South African site (fto.co.za

) carried the following:

/"Suspicious aircraft were forced to land. A US operated

(Russian-made long-range heavy transport) AN-124 changed its call sign

from civilian to military which then triggered a response from the IAF

(Indian Air Force) upon entering Pakistani air space (forcing) the

plane to land in Mumbai while (a) second one was forced down by

Nigerian fighter jets that also arrested the crew."

"According to reports, China's People's Liberation Army Air Force

contacted the Indian and Nigerian intelligence officials about the

presence of these US operated Ukrainian aircraft amidst growing

concern that the United States was spreading 'biological agents' in

the Earth's atmosphere, which some Chinese officials believed to be an

attempt to (commit) mass genocide via the spread of H1N1 swine flu."

These aircraft "were carrying 'waste disposal' systems that could

spray up to 45,000kg (nearly 100,000 pounds) of aerial type mist from

sophisticated....nano pipes" in the planes' wings - called

chemtrails./

We know that Baxter International Pharmaceuticals sent 72 kilos of

human influenza H3N2 vaccine materials to 16 labs in European nations

which contained live H5N1 Bird Flu viruses. We know that this was only

discovered when a Czech lab tested the material on several ferrets

(ferrets have a similar respiratory system to humans) and all of the

ferrets died in short order. We know that Baxter claimed that this was

human error. We also know that such a 'human error' is basically

impossible with the containment protocols in place at Baxter and any

other modern biolabs using Biosafety Level 3 (BLS-3) lab technology.

We know that in mid-August a Joseph Moshe, who is a Mossad biological

warfare expert, called in to Dr. A. True Ott's national radio talk

show and reported that Baxter was getting ready to release a deadly

plague from its Ukrainian lab and that he was shortly meeting with US

Attorneys in Los Angeles to give evidence about this. We know that

shortly thereafter Moshe was apprehended by Federal agents and LA

police and taken to the Israeli Consulate. We know that he was quickly

flown to Israel and that no further word has come from him.

We know that over the last three or so years a large number of

biological experts, from a number of places all over the world, have

died strange deaths and that this has been commented on by various

publications in the past.

We know that the sudden appearance of Mexican Swine Flu (A/H1N1)

virtually had to have been a release from a biological warfare lab. We

know that A/H1N1 has gene sequences from three different types

(American, Asian, and African) of Swine Flu, of Bird Flu, of two

different types of human seasonal flu, and of Spanish Flu and that

such a recombination is so unlikely in nature as to be virtually

impossible. We know that the WHO policies of not requiring a major

quarantine of Mexico ensured that A/H1N1 would spread throughout the

world.

We know that the current Swine Flu "Vaccine" is almost totally

untested, and that the manufactures are protected from lawsuits for

even deliberate acts that result in deaths and that nations acquiring

the vaccines are required to sign contracts agreeing not to release

negative information on the "vaccine" to the public. We know that

published additives to the "vaccine" include highly

dangerous-to-human-health substances.

We know that the corporate owned mainstream news media (with strong

links to global banking families) have censored this story in a way

that has never happen before. We know that the outbreak of a unknown

but deadly and very rapidly spreading disease in Europe is the largest

story on Earth but that it is NOT being reported on.

Doctors learned why Ukrainians dying! (updated at 06:25 pm)

All victims of the virus in Bukovyna (22 people at the age of 20-40)

died not from bilateral pneumonia, as was previously thought, but as a

result of viral distress syndrome, i.e the total destruction of the

lungs.

At first the cardio-pulmonary insufficiency comes, and consequently

cardiogenic shock is developed, which causes cardiac standstill and

death, told the chief of bureau of the Chernivtsi regional forensic

examination, doctor of science, Professor Viktor Bachynsky, UNIAN

reports.

"During a bilateral pneumonia some morphological picture is observed.

As of data of deaths, there is no such morphological picture. The

virus, which causes death, is very aggressive, it does not strike the

trachea, but immediately gets into the lungs and causes heavy swelling

and solid hemorrhage. Mixed types of parainfluenza and influenza

A/N1N1 lead to this state. This is a very toxic strain, which has not

yet answered to the treatment of the Ministry of Health", - said

Viktor Bachinsky.

According to him, there is a need to change the treatment standards,

because those which were used earlier, resulted in nothing – doctors

failed to save all people infected with the virus in the reanimation.

The belt ventilators did not help also.

For this reason a group of professors of Chernivtsi Medical

University appealed to the Ministry of Health and National Security

and Defense Council with a demand to review the standards of treatment

of patients in Bukovyna. Scientists-morphologists sent to Kyiv

reports, studies and analysis of critically ill patients and people

who died of virus.

Viktor Bachinsky noted that the virus is extremely toxic, it is able

to penetrate not only through respiratory apparatus but also through

the eyes. Chernovtsy scientists recommend in any case use masks and

even wear protective spectacles. An important condition to prevent

deterioration of the situation is also the observance of quarantine

regime.

06:19 p.m. Ministry of Health does not consider it is necessary to

publish data on the number of confirmed cases of influenza pandemic in

the laboratory. "Ukraine is in the A/N1N1 influenza pandemic, and now

it does not matter how many of these cases will be detected, we should

treat everybody equally," - said Deputy Minister of Health Vasyl

Lazoryshynets at a briefing on Friday.

Vasyl Lazoryshynets also reminded that in Ukraine since the beginning

of the epidemic 1,25 mn people became ill with pandemic influenza,

influenza and acute respiratory diseases, including 61,000 people -

over the past day, which is by 8,500 less than the previous day.

65,615 people are treated in hospital, including 392 - in the

reanimation, 60 have artificial pulmonary ventilation.

Since the beginning of the epidemic in Ukraine 239 people died,

including 26 people during the last day, most of them are in the

Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Lviv and Ternopil Regions. He also said

that according to the laboratory data, 14 people died of pandemic

influenza, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

06:25 p.m. To date, swine flu in Ukraine is dominant, but not the

British scientists are examining the strain of swine flu behind a deadly Ukrainian outbreak to see if the virus has mutated.
A total of 189 people have died and more than one million have been infected in the country.
Some doctors have likened the symptoms to those seen in many of the victims of the Spanish flu which caused millions of deaths world-wide after the World War One.
An unnamed doctor in western Ukraine told of the alarming effects of the virus.
He said: 'We have carried out post mortems on two victims and found their lungs are as black as charcoal.

'They look like they have been burned. It's terrifying.'
Neighbouring Poland has called on the EU to take action, fearing the mystery virus may spread westwards.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk has written to European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and the Swedish Prime Minister, Fredrik Reinfeldt, who holds the EU presidency.
The letter said: 'The character of this threat demands that rapid action be undertaken at the European Union level.'
Russia, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and Romania have already launched health checks on Ukrainians entering their territory.
Slovakia has closed two of five border crossings.

Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko has called in the World Health Organisation.
A team of specialists are carrying out tests in Kiev and Lviv in an effort to identify the virus.
President Yushchenko said: 'People are dying. The epidemic is killing doctors. This is absolutely inconceivable in the 21st Century.'  
In a TV interview, the President added: 'Unlike similar epidemics in other countries, three causes of serious viral infections came together simultaneously in Ukraine: two seasonal flus and the Californian flu.
'Virologists conclude that this combination of infections may produce an even more aggressive new virus as a result of mutation.'  
Four men and one woman have died from the flu in Lviv, said emergency hospital chief doctor Myron Borysevych.
Two of the dead patients were in the 22-35 age group, with two others over 60.
He diagnosed the disease as viral pneumonia.   
'We have sent the analyses to Kiev. We don't believe it's H1N1 swine flu. Neither do we know what kind of pneumonia it is.'  
Universities, schools and nurseries have been closed, public meetings have been banned and theatres shut.
The virus from the Ukraine is being tested at the Medical Research council labs in Mill Hill North London .
A spokesman said: 'We do not have a time scale for the results of the tests, although some preliminary results have been obtained. I cannot tell you what they are.
'We did not have enough of the virus samples so we will have to grow some more before we can come to a conclusive decision about its nature.'

Controversy in Croatia after famous Croatian priest Miroslav Bustruk appealed to Croatians not to get vaccinated against the Swine flu vaccine.
In a church ceremony dedicated to St Martin, father’s Bustruk statement caused an avalanche of reactions in Croatia.
What is it that he said?
“I appeal to you, to not get vaccinated for the so called Swine Flu under any circumstance. There is a plan for massive destruction of humanity worldwide. For this purpose we will see new diseases springing up everywhere” reports Croatian daily “Jutarnji List”, quoting father Bustruk.
“The H1N1 vaccine itself is a very sophisticated weapon whose implanted microchip will control the health of the human being” added the Croatian priest which prompted a great deal of disagreement by Croatian officials.
In defense of his colleague stood Don Jure Zubovik who said father Bustruk’s statement only defended the Church, adding – “certain people who have spoken out or warned against the vaccine are already in jail”.
More will be known in few weeks when the Vatican is expected to issue a press release addressing all World’s Governments.

Health Ministry: 'Essential to Inoculate Everyone'

(Israelnationalnews.com) The Health Ministry has issued a statement underscoring the importance of immunizing the entire population of Israel against the H1N1 virus as soon as it is feasible, saying the number of people that have been infected rose by 72 percent last week alone, with health clinics reporting 11,282 new cases.
The chairman of the ministry's Pediatric Advisory Committee on Infectious Diseases, Professor Dan Engelhard, quoted North American data indicating that some 15 percent of those who perish from the pandemic are healthy young people with no underlying medical conditions or other known risk factors.

A 14-year-old Virginia boy is weak and struggling to walk after coming down with a reported case of Guillain-Barre syndrome within hours after receiving the H1N1 vaccine for swine flu.
Jordan McFarland, a high school athlete from Alexandria, Va., left Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children Tuesday night in a wheelchair nearly a week after developing severe headaches, muscle spasms and weakness in his legs following a swine flu shot. He will likely need the assistance of a walker for four to six weeks, plus extensive physical therapy.
"The doctor said I'll recover fully, but it's going to take some time," the teenager said.
Jordan is among the first people in the nation to report developing the potentially life-threatening muscle disorder after receiving the H1N1 vaccine this fall. His alarming reaction was submitted via msnbc.com's reader reporting tool, First Person, by his stepmother, Arlene Connin.
Increased cases of GBS were found in patients who received a 1976 swine flu vaccine, but government health officials say they've seen no rise in the condition associated with the current outbreak.
So far, the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have received five reports of GBS in people who received the H1N1 vaccine since Oct. 6, not including Jordan's case, said Dr. Claudia J. Vellozzi, deputy director for immunization safety.

Out of about 40 million doses of H1N1 vaccine available to date, that's a far lower rate of GBS than the 1 case that develops in every 1 million people who receive the regular flu vaccine.
"It's much less than we'd expect," she said, adding that many cases go unreported.
In 1976, about 1 additional case of GBS developed in every 100,000 people who were vaccinated against the swine flu, according to the CDC.
Jordan's parents said doctors diagnosed the teen with GBS, a rare muscle disorder that develops when a person's own immune system attacks the nerves, causing muscle weakness, difficulty walking and sometimes paralysis and death.
Hospital officials didn't dispute that the boy had GBS, but refused to comment on the boy's condition or treatment, even after his family granted permission.
"They don't want to create a fear or panic in the community," said Jordan's stepmother, Connin.
Connin and Jordan's father, Calvin McFarland, both 38, believe the shot sparked the illness that came on 18 hours after the boy's vaccination.
No clear link
But Vellozzi said there's no clear link between the new vaccine and the disease.
"We know that GBS and other illnesses occur routinely in the U.S.," Vellozzi said, noting that 80 to 120 cases are diagnosed each week in the general population.
"There are events that follow vaccination. That's what they are, they happened to follow vaccination.
GBS is among the most severe adverse events being tracked with updated systems developed by the CDC, the Food and Drug Administration and the American Association of Neurology in order to monitor the rollout of the H1N1 flu vaccine.
So far, CDC officials have received about 1,700 reports of adverse events linked to the new shot, Vellozzi said. Of those, only about 4 percent, or 68, were coded as serious. That's on par with reports regarding seasonal vaccine.
While any harmful side effect can be devastating for an individual, when it comes to larger public health issues, the H1N1 virus is considerably riskier than the vaccine, experts say.
"The H1N1 illness is making lots of children very ill," Vellozzi said. "There's lots of illness and lots of death."
So far, more than 4,000 people have died from H1N1 infection in the U.S., according to latest estimates by the CDC.
Since the start of the H1N1 vaccine campaign, the CDC has repeatedly warned that certain conditions, such as miscarriage, heart attack and even GBS occur regardless of immunization, and officials have urged the public not to blame the vaccine for the illnesses, but to report promptly any suspected side effects.
As of early Wednesday, CDC officials said they had received no report from Inova Fairfax about Jordan's condition. Later in the day, however, hospital spokesman Tony Raker indicated the hospital had submitted the report.
After hearing about Jordan's case from msnbc.com, CDC officials advised the family to report Jordan's case themselves.
Vaccine critic Barbara Lowe Fisher, president of the National Vaccine Information Center in Vienna, Va., said assuming all potential side effects are coincidence is a mistake. Such an attitude is likely to prevent doctors and other health workers from reporting adverse events in a timely manner, obscuring a true picture of any problems.
Fisher said only between 1 percent and 10 percent of adverse events are reported to the government's Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, which was set up to track problems with vaccines. A 1986 law requires reporting of certain adverse events to VAERS, but there are no sanctions for not reporting, Fisher noted. CDC officials said general reporting to VAERS is voluntary.
Fisher said she suspects that many more cases of GBS have occurred in the wake of the H1N1 vaccines.
"We basically have people blowing it off," she said. "We need to make sure people are reporting."
Eager for protection
Like many parents across the country, Arlene Connin said she was eager to protect Jordan and his brother, Lleyton, 7, against the flu. When she took the boys to their pediatrician for seasonal flu shots on Nov. 5, the provider said H1N1 vaccine was available, too.
There was "not even a thought," that either boy would have a reaction, Connin said. Within hours, however, Jordan developed severe headaches, chills and back spasms. The family rushed him to the closest hospital, Dewitt Army Community Hospital, where doctors conducted neurological exams, a CT scan and an EKG test.
The small hospital didn't have the facilities to diagnose or treat Jordan's illness, so he was transferred by ambulance on Nov. 6 to Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Va., a spokesman said. Doctors there quickly gave Jordan intravenous immunoglobulin, a standard treatment for GBS, Connin said.
"GBS, that's the diagnosis they gave us and that's how they were treating him," Connin said.
A hospital spokesman, Tony Raker, declined further comment on Jordan's case. When an msnbc.com photographer asked to view Jordan's chart, even with his father's permission, hospital officials refused.
Doctors are reluctant to discuss GBS in connection with vaccines, Connin said. Anti-vaccine groups frequently cite the disorder as evidence of vaccine dangers, which public health officials fear will discourage people from getting life-saving protection, especially in the case of H1N1. 
Jordan's experience has made his parents think hard about immunization, even though they've always insisted on annual flu shots. Under CDC guidelines for children 9 and younger, Lleyton should receive another booster shot of H1N1 vaccine to protect him fully against the virus.
"I have mixed emotions on that one," Calvin McFarland, the boys' father, said. "We're not sure what we're going to do about that."
