Knesset Votes to Postpone Local Elections
(IsraelNN.com) The Knesset voted Monday to postpone the local elections this year. The elections were scheduled to take place on the first Tuesday of the Hebrew month of Cheshvan, which falls on November 4.
MK Ophir Pines-Paz proposed that the elections be postponed because the English date they fall on is the day that former Prime Minister Yitchak Rabin was assassinated. Pines-Paz said Israel should postpone the elections in order to "uphold Rabin's legacy in the national memory."
