New Anti-Forgery Passports To Be Issued
(IsraelNN.com) Israeli citizens will have to apply for new passports over the next three years to comply with a new government directive to issue a "biometric" passport that is difficult to forge. The United States and European Union have said that the current passports will not be honored after 2010.
The new passports will be issued for a period of 10 years, and the Interior Ministry said it might also issue new identity cards (teudat zehut). A special camera records information on facial features and applicants also will be fingerprinted.
