Dichter Demands Olmert Allow IDF to End Rocket Attacks
(IsraelNN.com) Public Security Minister Avi Dichter demanded during the weekly cabinet meeting Sunday that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert allow the IDF to put an end to the rocket attacks on Israel emanating from Gaza, once and for all. "I expect you to instruct the IDF to halt the Kassam rocket attacks on Israel at all costs," said Dichter, adding that "Israel's residents are not perishable items, be it physically or mentally."
Approximately a dozen rockets had exploded in various locations in the western Negev by 1:00 p.m. Sunday, including a kibbutz and the cities of Sderot and Netivot. At least one man was injured by flying shrapnel when a rocket exploded near a factory and there were reports that three others were hurt elsewhere in the western Negev. A house in a kibbutz sustained a direct hit by a rocket but no one was home at the time. A number of buildings were damaged by rocket explosions in other areas and at least 12 people were treated for severe emotional shock, according to Ynet. Those who were physically injured were taken to Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon.
