Abdullah Pushes US Involvement in Talks
(IsraelNN.com) Jordan's King Abdullah spoke at Princeton University over the weekend and strongly promoted United States involvement in talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. The conflict between Israel and the PA is the most important issue in the Middle East, Abdullah said, and is even more important than the conflict in Iraq, where tens of thousands of Iraqi civilians and almost 4,000 US troops have been killed in insurgent violence.
If a deal is not reached in 2008, before US President George Bush leaves office, the negotiations process could be set back by decades, Abdullah said. "It will be two or three years before a new American president will be willing to look at the Middle East," he said.
