"THIS data allows investigators to identify suspects, examine their contacts, establish relationships between conspirators and place them in a specific location at a certain time."

So said the UK Home Office last week as it announced plans to give law-enforcement agencies, local councils and other public bodies access to the details of people's text messages, emails and internet activity. The move followed its announcement in May that it was considering creating a massive central database to store all this data, as a tool to help the security services tackle crime and terrorism.

Meanwhile in the US the FISA Amendments Act, which became law in July, allows the security services to intercept anyone's international phone calls and emails without a warrant for up to seven days. Governments around the world are developing increasingly sophisticated electronic surveillance methods in a bid to identify terrorist cells or spot criminal activity.

However, technology companies, in particular telecommunications firms and internet service providers, have often been criticised for assisting governments in what many see as unwarranted intrusion, most notably in China.

Now German electronics company Siemens has gone a step further, developing a complete "surveillance in a box" system called the Intelligence Platform, designed for security services in Europe andAsia. It has already sold the system to 60 countries.

According to a document obtained by New Scientist, the system integrates tasks typically done by separate surveillance teams or machines, pooling data from sources such as telephone calls, email and internet activity, bank transactions and insurance records. It then sorts through this mountain of information using software that Siemens dubs "intelligence modules".

This software is trained on a large number of sample documents to pick out items such as names, phone numbers and places from generic text. This means it can spot names or numbers that crop up alongside anyone already of interest to the authorities, and then catalogue any documents that contain such associates.

Once a person is being monitored, pattern-recognition software first identifies their typical behaviour, such as repeated calls to certain numbers over a period of a few months. The software can then identify any deviations from the norm and flag up unusual activities, such as transactions with a foreign bank, or contact with someone who is also under surveillance, so that analysts can take a closer look.

Included within the package is a phone call "monitoring centre", developed by the joint-venture company Nokia Siemens Networks.

However, it is far from clear whether the technology will prove accurate. Security experts warn that data-fusion technologies tend to produce a huge number of false positives, flagging up perfectly innocent people as suspicious.

"Combining two different sources of data has the tendency to increase your false-positive rate or your false-negative rate," says Ross Anderson, a computer security engineer at the University of Cambridge. "If you're looking for burglars in a run-down district where 50 per cent of men have a criminal conviction, you may find plenty. But if you're trying to find terrorists among airline passengers - where they are extremely rare - then almost all your hits will be false."

Computer security expert Bruce Schneier agrees. "Currently there are no good patterns available to recognise terrorists," he says, and questions whether Siemens has got around this.

Whatever the level of accuracy, human rights advocates are concerned that the system could give surveillance-hungry repressive regimes a ready-made means of monitoring their citizens. Carole Samdup of the organisation Rights and Democracy in Montreal, Canada, says the system bears a strong resemblance to the Chinese government's "Golden Shield" concept, a massive surveillance network encompassing internet and email monitoring as well as speech and facial-recognition technologies and closed-circuit TV cameras.

In 2001, Rights and Democracy raised concerns about the potential for governments to integrate huge information databases with real-time analysis to track the activities of individuals. "Now in 2008 these very characteristics are presented as value-added selling points in the company advertisement of its product," Samdup says.

In June, the PRISE consortium of security technology and human-rights experts, funded by the European Union (EU), submitted a report to the European Commission asking for a moratorium on the development of data-fusion technologies, referring explicitly to the Siemens Intelligence Platform.

"The efficiency and reliability of such tools is as yet unknown," says the report. "More surveillance does not necessarily lead to a higher level of societal security. Hence there must be a thorough examination of whether the resulting massive constraints on human rights are proportionate and justified."

Nokia Siemens says 90 of the systems are already being used around the world, although it hasn't specified which countries are using it. A spokesman for the company said, "We implement stringent safeguards to prevent misuse of such systems for unauthorised purposes. In all countries where we operate we do business strictly according to the Nokia Siemens Networks standard code of conduct and UN and EU export regulations."

Samdup argues that such systems should fall under government controls that are imposed on "dual-use" goods - systems that could be used both for civil and military purposes. Security technologies usually escape these controls. For example, the EU regulation on the export and transfer of dual-use technology does not include surveillance and intelligence technologies on the list of items that must be checked and authorised before they are exported to certain countries.

The problem is that surveillance technologies have developed so rapidly that they have outpaced developments in export controls, says Samdup. "In many cases politicians, policy-makers and human-rights organisations lack the technical expertise to adequately assess the impact that such technology could have when it is exported to repressive regimes."

The Media are offering up their wisdom about how Russia could undermine the U.S. and the rest of the Free West by selling arms to rogue nations.

Gee Whiz! I must be a genius or a Nostradamus because I have been observing Vladimir Putin selling arms for years to Iran, Syria, Venezuela...from which those weapons migrate to Hezb'Allah, Hamas and Al Qaeda.

The Media, globally, take the position that Putin will deliberately cause mischief against the U.S. - as if the last several years never happened. Russia under Putin, with malice aforethought, has advanced Iran's development of nuclear weapons, denials notwithstanding.

Putin knew well that the technology, once in the hands of radical Islamists, would spread to all other Muslim nations and their Terrorist proxies. Putin's hatred for the West is greater than the risk Russia faces if and when the Muslims of Chechnya get their hands on fissile material and try to blow up Moscow.

From the Stalin era and before, the Soviets - now again called Russians - have always been a primitive people who seem to need the rule of cruel dictators to keep the great population under control. The dictators themselves are usually a wild bunch, always planning to conquer, murder and rule, whomever they can intimidate.

Putin never actually left the KGB and now, as the power behind Putin's puppet, the current President Dmitry Antolyevich Medvedev, Putin wishes to bring back the years of fear that prevailed during the Cold War. During the Soviet days there were KGB and other training camps dedicated to training Terrorists like Carlos, the Jackal. Training Middle East Muslim Terrorists was the KGB speciality.

Mahmoud Abbas (aka Abu Mazen) took his degree from the Patrice Lumumba University, with his thesis dissertation in why the Holocaust never happened. Abbas, like Yassir Arafat was linked to the Soviets enterprise by an umbilical cord of pure Terror.

Where were the Media pundits who have access to vast files on every bit of history but seem to never crack a reference book? It is said that "Dumb is curable, but Stupid is forever."

Why haven't investigative journalists been on Russia's case long before Putin set up his recent attack on Georgia?

I must say that the U.S. State Department under Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice (a so-called expert on Russia) failed before, during and after the Russian invasion. Come to think of it Rice has failed in every aspect of solving international problems. Her only dubious success was to use the Bush "Big Brother" pressure to force the weak government of Israel under its current Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to risk its very existence by making suicidal gestures to the Muslim Arab Palestinians.

Rice remains untouchable to the media simply because she is a woman; she is black and, therefore, should be considered free of rational scrutiny by the Media. Granted she smiles nicely, makes seemingly erudite speeches but, she solves nothing of the world's problems. Her vaunted, supposed expertise about Russia has been a dismal failure, particularly in forecasting political and military adventurism.

Petting the Russian Bear, thinking it is a tamed, civilized animal is a grave error and wishful thinking one the part of any nation. The Bear is dangerous, has giant claws and teeth and artful avoidance by the West is a giant sized mistake.

The Media have played a role in lulling the nations into becoming a main course in the Bear's dinner. But, the Brezhnev Doctrine is alive and well. (1)

PT. 2: RUSSIA BLAMES ISRAEL FOR CASUALTIES IN GEORGIA & SEEKS A PRETEXT TO SUPPLY EVEN MORE ARMS TO SYRIA, HEZB'ALLAH & IRAN TO KILL ISRAELIS

The vice-chairman of the Russian Chiefs-of-Staff - Anatoloy Nogoveichin - is accusing Israel of supplying arms to Georgia that were used to kill Russians.

This is a very worrying development. This pretext will be used by Russia to continue supplying Syria, Hezb'Allah and Iran with weapons that will inevitably be used to kill Israelis. During the last war in Lebanon, summer 2006, Israelis suffered many military and civilian casualties due to Russian-made arms.

This may have been one of Putin's goals in Russia's invasion of Georgia. By "impaling" themselves on Israeli-made arms that were in Georgia - Russian gained a presumed justification for supplying arms to kill Israelis. Now they can even claim "vengeance".

What the Russians fail to mention is that they never told the Israelis to rein in private arms supply firms based in Israel - nor to stop sending advisors. No one really thought Georgia and Russia would be in a real war. For the Israeli firms it was just good business, necessary to make their own weapons' manufacture pay for itself, so Israel would have the weapons she needs for self-defense.

Israel clearly would not have risked the anger of Moscow had she known Russia and Georgia would be at war. In fact, Israel clamped an embargo on weapons' shipments to Georgia the minute Russia attacked.

The Russians should be informed that using what transpired in Georgia as an excuse to harm Israel though accelerated weapons' shipments to Syria, Hezb'Allah and Iran is simply unacceptable and patently unfair.

To wit, the following is explosively alarming:

Now [August 23rd] a powerful Russian naval contingent, led by the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov is sitting off shore at the Syrian port of Tartus. This includes the Russian Navy's biggest missile cruiser Moskva and at least four nuclear missile submarines.

Before the Russian flotilla departed Murmansk on the Barents Sea August 18, Assad is reported to have given the nod for the Tartus port's conversion into a permanent Middle East base for Russia's nuclear-armed warships.

On Thursday August 21 Syria's President Bashar Assad at the Black Sea resort of Sochi, told reporters he is considering a Russian request to deploy missiles in Syria because of Russian-Western tensions over the Georgian conflict. Assad signaled that he would also be representing Tehran's interests in his talks with Russian leaders. Jordan's King Abdullah joined this 'conference' on August 21^st.

While Assad was meeting at Sochi, a large Syrian military delegation visited the Russian weapons manufacturing giant, the Kalinin Machines Plant, east of Moscow. This plant makes sophisticated anti-air missile systems, including the S-300 and the BUK M, for which Damascus is bidding.

Assad seems to be giving Russia's Navy the port of Tartus in return for a mutual defense pact with Russia who will provide Syria with a Russian nuclear umbrella and generous terms for his arms purchases. (2)

maybe not). At least it does seem to be a reasoned, reasonable

Since the question of Obama's eligibility for POTUS has been called into
question ad nauseum, I thought I would research the law and assemble all
of the arguments about Obama's citizenship in one place. Please note that
everything in this message is readily available to anyone. There are no
smoke and mirrors here.

First for the background, the U. S. Constitution requires that the POTUS
must be a natural born citizen (Article II, Section 1). It does not
define natural born citizen. The constitution does give congress the
authority to make laws regarding naturalization (Article I, Section 8).

There have been two questions raised as to Obama's eligibility to run for
president. They are:
1) Is he a natural born citizen?
2) Assuming that he was a natural born citizen, has he since lost that
citizenship?

First, let us look at the question regarding natural born citizenship. The
law in question is Sec. 301. [8 U.S.C. 1401].

Obama's mother was a U. S. Citizen. That is not in dispute. Obama's
mother, at one time, lived in the U. S. That is not in dispute. Obama's
father was not a U. S. citizen.

Citizenship by jus solis applies to anyone born on U. S. soil. Those
persons (with a few non-applicable exceptions) are natural born citizens,
period. There are no other conditions that must be met. It does not
matter if the parents lived in the U. S. It does not matter if the
parents were U. S. citizens. If he was born on U. S. soil, he is a
natural born citizen, end of discussion (see Sec. 301. [8 U.S.C.
1401](a)).

Let us assume that Obama was not born on U. S. soil. What happens then?
At the time of his birth, the law required that if only one parent was a
U. S. citizen (which applies here), that parent must have lived in the U.
S. for ten years, of which 5 years must have been after the age of 14 (not
16). Given these requirements, it would appear that Obama does not
qualify, BUT, congress changed the law after his birth and made it
retroactive. This is now one condition in the present law, and I quote
(Sec. 301. [8 U.S.C. 1401](h)):
(h) a person born before noon (Eastern Standard Time) May 24, 1934,
outside the limits and jurisdiction of the United States of an alien
father and a mother who is a citizen of the United States who, prior to
the birth of such person, had resided in the United States. 302 persons
born in Puerto Rico on or after April 11, 1899
Obama must only meet the following conditions:
1) He was born after noon (Easter Standard Time) May 24, 1943.
2) He had an alien father.
3) He had a U. S. citizen mother.
4) His mother had resided in the United States.
Assuming that Obama was born in Kenya, or somewhere else, Obama meets all
of the above conditions. It does not matter what the law said at the time
of his birth. This is what the law says now. He qualifies under
paragraph (h) to be a natural born citizen.

Now let us address the issue of loss of citizenship. One allegation is
that Obama was adopted by an Indonesian father and was granted citizenship
in that country. Such citizenship, if he even had it, does not revoke his
U. S. citizenship.

There is a misconception that the U. S. does not permit dual citizenship.
According to the State Department, it does. I will spare you the details.

Now let us assume that Obama is/was a natural born citizen and
subsequently became a dual citizen of Indonesia. What could he have done
to lose his U. S. citizenship. Once again, the State Department has the
answers to this question. This is what it says:
"However, a person who acquires a foreign citizenship by applying for it
may lose U.S. citizenship. In order to lose U.S. citizenship, the law
requires that the person must apply for the foreign citizenship
voluntarily, by free choice, and with the intention to give up U.S.
citizenship."

Does being adopted as a minor constitute "free choice"? Not likely So
assuming that Obama was a natural born citizen and he was adopted and he
did become a citizen of Indonesia, was that cause to lose his U. S.
citizenship? No.

So, has Obama done anything voluntarily that could have caused him to lose
his U. S. citizenship? One idea floated is that he traveled on an
Indonesian passport to Pakistan in 1981. He would have been 20 at the
time.

So, does travel on a foreign passport cause one to lose U. S. citizenship?
Not according to the state department. They have this to say:
"Use of the foreign passport does not endanger U.S. citizenship."

This issue of Obama and citizenship is a smokescreen. I would not be
surprised to discover that this is being perpetrated by democrats to get
us off the real issue. Obama is, to quote Cindy, a raging socialist.
Americans, by and large, do not like socialism. If we can beat that into
people's heads, we can beat Obama. We are not going to beat him using the
Don Quixote approach. The birth certificate is a windmill and we are
wasting our time jousting with it.

Court Orders Police: Reveal Names, Tactics at Amona

(IsraelNN.com) A Jerusalem court has ordered the police to provide the names of policemen involved in the violence against demonstrators at the community of Amona two years ago and to disclose orders concerning the use of clubs and mounted police. Judge Anat Ziner issued the order after the Yesha Human Rights group appealed to the court to provide the information for a civil suit that has been filed for injuries a young girl suffered from mounted police who trampled her with their horses.

The police were given 30 days to disclose the information. Lawyers for the plaintiff, Rivka Turgeman, stated in the civil suit that she suffers from 10 percent incapacitation because of the wounds when she was trampled while sitting on the ground. Another lawsuit has charged a policeman with clubbing a youth, and a picture has shown a policeman butting a youth his helmet.

OBAMA SUED IN PHILADELPHIA FEDERAL COURT ON GROUNDS

A prominent Philadelphia attorney and Hillary Clinton supporter filed suit this afternoon in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, the Democratic National Committee and the Federal Election Commission. The action seeks an injunction preventing the senator from continuing his candidacy and a court order enjoining the DNC from nominating him next week, all on grounds that Sen. Obama is constitutionally ineligible to run for and hold the office of President of the United States.

Phillip Berg, the filing attorney, is a former gubernatorial and senatorial candidate, former chair of the Democratic Party in Montgomery (PA) County, former member of the Democratic State Committee, and former Deputy Attorney General of Pennsylvania. According to Berg, he filed the suit – just days before the DNC is to hold its nominating convention in Denver – for the health of the Democratic Party.

"I filed this action at this time," Berg stated, "to avoid the obvious problems that will occur when the Republican Party raises these issues after Obama is nominated."

Berg cited a number of unanswered questions regarding the Illinois senator's background, and in today's lawsuit maintained that Sen. Obama is not a natural born U.S. citizen or that, if he ever was, he lost his citizenship when he was adopted in Indonesia. Berg also cites what he calls "dual loyalties" due to his citizenship and ties with Kenya and Indonesia.

Even if Sen. Obama can prove his U.S citizenship, Berg stated, citing the senator's use of a birth certificate from the state of Hawaii verified as a forgery by three independent document forensic experts, the issue of "multi-citizenship with responsibilities owed to and allegiance to other countries" remains on the table.

In the lawsuit, Berg states that Sen. Obama was born in Kenya, and not in Hawaii as the senator maintains. Before giving birth, according to the lawsuit, Obama's mother traveled to Kenya with his father but was prevented from flying back to Hawaii because of the late stage of her pregnancy, "apparently a normal restriction to avoid births during a flight." As Sen. Obama's own paternal grandmother, half-brother and half-sister have also claimed, Berg maintains that Stanley Ann Dunham – Obama's mother – gave birth to little Barack in Kenya and subsequently flew to Hawaii to register the birth.

Berg cites inconsistent accounts of Sen. Obama's birth, including reports that he was born at two separate hospitals – Kapiolani Hospital and Queens Hospital – in Honolulu, as well a profound lack of birthing records for Stanley Dunham, though simple "registry of birth" records for Barack Obama are available in a Hawaiian public records office.

Should Sen. Obama truly have been born in Kenya, Berg writes, the laws on the books at the time of his birth hold that U.S. citizenship may only pass to a child born overseas to a U.S. citizen parent and non-citizen parent if the former was at least 19 years of age. Sen. Obama's mother was only 18 at the time. Therefore, because U.S. citizenship could not legally be passed on to him, Obama could not be registered as a "natural born" citizen and would therefore be ineligible to seek the presidency pursuant to Article II, Section 1 of the United States Constitution.

Moreover, even if Sen. Obama could have somehow been deemed "natural born," that citizenship was lost in or around 1967 when he and his mother took up residency in Indonesia, where Stanley Ann Dunham married Lolo Soetoro, an Indonesian citizen. Berg also states that he possesses copies of Sen. Obama's registration to Fransiskus Assisi School In Jakarta, Indonesia which clearly show that he was registered under the name "Barry Soetoro" and his citizenship listed as Indonesian.

The Hawaiian birth certificate, Berg says, is a forgery. In the suit, the attorney states that the birth certificate on record is a forgery, has been identified as such by three independent document forensic experts, and actually belonged to Maya Kasandra Soetoro, Sen. Obama's half-sister.

"Voters donated money, goods and services to elect a nominee and were defrauded by Sen. Obama's lies and obfuscations," Berg stated. "If the DNC officers ... had performed one ounce of due diligence we would not find ourselves in this emergency predicament, one week away from making a person the nominee who has lost their citizenship as a child and failed to even perform the basic steps of regaining citizenship as prescribed by constitutional laws."

"It is unfair to the country," he continued, "for candidates of either party to become the nominee when there is any question of the ability to serve if elected."

I was told from an authoritative source quite some time in advance that Archbishop Egan of New York (head of the Council on Foreign Relations, i.e., the shadow government of the US) had chosen John McCain to be the next president. This is the way that the US presidents have normally been chosen, since both democrats and republicans both work for and are directed by the Vatican, which is subject to Benedict XVI, who is subject to the Jesuit Order, which is subject to the Jesuit General Adolfo Nicolas (the Black Pope), the most powerful man in the world, who very soon plans to rule the world from the Third Temple in Jerusalem. All world events are directed by the Jesuits under the final authority of the Jesuit General, which are rapidly moving us toward the establishment of the New World Order.

The nomination of Biden just may be one of the tactics used to turn voters away from Obama and to put McCain in the White House. There are more "skeletons in the closet" that will be coming out against Obama (at least, that's what I've been told) in order to turn the tide towards McCain. However, the Jesuits are capable of having aces up their sleeves that haven't been revealed, so anything could take place between now and the elections.

All this is subject to our Sovereign God's prophetical plan and how He is using this "mystery of iniquity" to bring about the soon tribulation upon the earth.

Let us be faithful during these evil days, since "the night is coming when no man can work." The reason I send this information is to help expose what is taking place within our own country and the world in order to awaken God's people to the fact that "now is our salvation nearer than when we believed."

Vatican Moves For Total US Takeover With Obama Vice President Pick

A most interesting report received today from Bishop Michael of Geneva and Western Europe Diocese, a member of the Council of Bishops, Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, is claiming that that the US Presidential Candidate Barak Obama's choice of Senator Joseph Biden [pictured at left with Edward Kennedy and Barak Obama] for his Vice President 'clearly shows' that the Vatican is vying for control of the United States for the first time since their last attempt ended with the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

Senator Biden was born of Irish Catholic ancestry, educated by the Catholic Norbertine Order at one of their most prestigious, and secretive, schools named Archmere Academy, became one of youngest ever elected US Senators (like John F. Kennedy also had been), and has full control of the United State Senates Foreign Relations Committee which is comprised entirely of Roman Catholics.

It is important to note that Archmere Academy was founded by, and was the original home of, the Catholic American Industrialist John Jakob Raskob (builder of the Empire State Building that once again became ascendant upon the New York City skyline upon the destruction of the World Trade Center on 9/11) who joined the right-wing coup (known as the Business Plot) attempt with Prescott Bush, the current American Presidents grandfather, against President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in an attempt to install a fascist dictatorship upon the American people.

This attempt to overthrow the government of the United States in a military coup was thwarted by the testimony of World War I hero General Smedley Darlington Butler (known as the 'Fighting Quaker') before the House Un-American Activities Committee, which though supporting his claims failed to take any action against the conspirators.

However, these reports continue, these right-wing American conspirators have 'arisen again' to foist upon the United States a Nazi Fascist Regime, not by force of arms this time, but by being elected by the very people they seek to subjugate under their brutal rule, and which is exactly what was accomplished in Adolph Hitler's rise to power in post World War I Germany.

Even more disturbing about these events is that the current Roman Catholic Pope, Benedict XVI, and defacto ruler of Senator Biden and other members of America's political elite, has made no secret of his past ties to the German Nazis by his being a past member of the Hitler Youth Organization during World War II.

The current American President, George Bush, has, likewise, never sought to conceal his family's support of Hitler and the German Nazi Regime prior to, and during, World War II, and as we can read as reported by Britain's Guardian News Service in a report censored in the US:

"George Bush's grandfather, the late US senator Prescott Bush, was a director and shareholder of companies that profited from their involvement with the financial backers of Nazi Germany.

The Guardian has obtained confirmation from newly discovered files in the US National Archives that a firm of which Prescott Bush was a director was involved with the financial architects of Nazism.

His business dealings, which continued until his company's assets were seized in 1942 under the Trading with the Enemy Act, has led more than 60 years later to a civil action for damages being brought in Germany against the Bush family by two former slave labourers at Auschwitz and to a hum of pre-election controversy."

Though the American people continue to awaken each morning with more of the trappings of a Nazi Police State descending upon them they, and as the brutal regime they live under continues the wholesale pillaging of their human rights, one would be hard pressed to find any of them actually opposing their rapid descent into barbarism.

It is as if, and like the German people under the Nazi influence before them, they are sleepwalking their way towards Armageddon with virtually no care for the horrific price they will pay for their War Leaders actions against the World.

What makes the situation of the American people particularly ironic is that it was just over a century ago they were warned of evil machinations of the Catholic Church towards them by the dissident Priest Charles Chiniquy, and friend of President Abraham Lincoln, who warned in his most important book, Fifty Years in the Church of Rome:

"After twenty years of constant and most difficult research, I come fearlessly today before the American people, to say and prove that the president, Abraham Lincoln, was assassinated by the priests and the Jesuits of Rome."

Unfortunately, however, the American people have lost virtually all knowledge of their own history, and all the evidence shows that they have fallen under the Catholic Church's most 'tried and proven' method for deflecting attention from themselves and their evil machinations as used during the Spanish Inquisition and the ascent of Nazis in Germany….blame it on the Jews.

One cannot help but wonder what these Americans will be feeling when they awaken one day soon (and much sooner than they know) to see that no matter who they have voted for, either Obama or McCain, their real master will be the Roman Catholic Nazi Church.

A prominent Philadelphia attorney and Hillary Clinton supporter filed suit yesterday afternoon in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, the Democratic National Committee and the Federal Election Commission.

The action seeks an injunction preventing the senator from continuing his candidacy and a court order enjoining the DNC from nominating him next week, all on grounds that Sen. Obama is constitutionally ineligible to run for and hold the office of President of the United States.

Phillip Berg, the filing attorney, is a former gubernatorial and senatorial candidate, former chair of the Democratic Party in Montgomery (PA) County, former member of the Democratic State Committee, and former Deputy Attorney General of Pennsylvania. According to Berg, he filed the suit--just days before the DNC is to hold its nominating convention in Denver--for the health of the Democratic Party. "I filed this action at this time," Berg stated, "to avoid the obvious problems that will occur when the Republican Party raises these issues after Obama is nominated.".

Berg cited a number of unanswered questions regarding the Illinois senator's background, and in today's lawsuit maintained that Sen. Obama is not a natural born U.S. citizen or that, if he ever was, he lost his citizenship when he was adopted in Indonesia. Berg also cites what he calls "dual loyalties" due to his citizenship and ties with Kenya and Indonesia.

Even if Sen. Obama can prove his U.S. citizenship, Berg stated, citing the senator's use of a birth certificate from the state of Hawaii verified as a forgery by three independent document forensic experts, the issue of "multi-citizenship with responsibilities owed to and allegiance to other countries" remains on the table.

In the lawsuit, Berg states that Sen. Obama was born in Kenya, and not in Hawaii as the senator maintains. Before giving birth, according to the lawsuit, Obama's mother traveled to Kenya with his father but was prevented from flying back to Hawaii because of the late stage of her pregnancy, "apparently a normal restriction to avoid births during a flight." As Sen. Obama's own paternal grandmother, half-brother and half-sister have also claimed, Berg maintains that Stanley Ann Dunham--Obama's mother--gave birth to little Barack in Kenya and subsequently flew to Hawaii to register the birth.

BERLIN (Reuters) - Germany's Finance Ministry said on Saturday a magazine report that the government wants the Bundesbank to sell some of its gold reserves to help ease pressure on the federal budget was untrue.

Der Spiegel magazine reported in a preview of its latest edition that Finance Ministry State Secretary Werner Gatzer had proposed selling part of the central bank's gold reserves, currently worth around 65 billion euros ($103 billion).

According to the plan, the proceeds could then be either invested to earn interest or debt could be paid off freeing up cash that would have been used to for interest payments, the magazine said, citing unidentified participants in a March 13 meeting of budget experts.

"This claim is untrue," Finance Ministry spokesman Torsten Albig said in an emailed statement.

"State Secretary Gatzer has at no time raised the issue of such a proposal. The Finance Ministry considers such a debate neither appropriate nor likely to lead to the desired results.

"The Bundesbank's gold reserves are not available to be used for budgetary purposes."

Germany is a signatory to the Central Bank Gold Agreement, under which 15 European central banks agreed to limit their sales of gold over a five-year period to 2,500 tonnes, with annual sales limited to 500 tonnes.

Bundesbank President Axel Weber said this month the bank would probably hold on to the vast bulk of its reserves in the next year of the agreement, beginning in September.

The Bundesbank is the second-largest holder of gold behind the U.S. Federal Reserve and announced in October it would sell a maximum of 8 tonnes of gold to the finance ministry to mint coins in the fourth year of the agreement.

Gold prices have more than doubled in the last five years, lifting the value of central bank reserves.

Russian court rejects parole for jailed oil tycoon Khodorkovsky

CHITA, Russia (AP) -- A Russian court rejected jailed oil tycoon Mikhail Khodorkovsky's request for parole on Friday, ordering him to serve out the remainder of his sentence in a ruling his lawyer called politically motivated.

Khodorkovsky -- the former head of Yukos oil company, and once Russia's richest man -- was sentenced to prison for eight years in 2005 on charges of tax evasion and fraud in what Kremlin critics slammed as a flawed trial.

"Prisoner Khodorkovsky does not deserve conditional early release," Judge Igor Faliliyev said at the Ingodinsky regional court in the Siberian city of Chita, citing as reasons his refusal to take part in professional training in sewing while in prison, and an alleged misdemeanor dating back to October.

Khodorkovsky showed little surprise at the decision, appearing calm as the judge finished speaking. As he was hustled out of the courtroom by guards, he said Russia's "legal system will not be reformed anytime soon."

Detained since 2003, Khodorkovsky has served more than half of his sentence and has been eligible for parole for the past 10 months.

Most of that sentence has been served in the remote Chita region, nearly 4,000 miles east of Moscow. In December 2006, he was moved from a prison camp to a pretrial detention center in the city after new charges were brought against him and his business associate Platon Lebedev.

The prosecution of the oligarch was widely seen as an attempt to silence a Kremlin opponent and consolidate control over Russia's strategic energy sector.

The charges and subsequent demand for huge back taxes led to the effective renationalization of Yukos, which was taken over by the state oil company Rosneft.

Prosecutor Andrei Federov told the court that Khodorkovsky should serve out his full sentence, because he had not repented his crimes. Prison officials also present at the hearing said that Khodorkovsky had flouted prison rules on several occasions.

In particular, he is accused of failing to hold his hands behind his back during a jail walk last October. But in a surprise revelation to a Russian magazine earlier this year, cellmate Igor Gnezdilov said he had been blackmailed by the guards into making a false allegation against Khodorkovsky.

Vadim Klyuvgant, lawyer for the defense, said after the hearing that the decision to deny the former billionaire parole was politically motivated and would be appealed within the 10 days allowed by the court.

Speaking to reporters, he said the ruling was handed down "by a court that is not free and is heavily influenced by those who are simply scared of freeing Mikhail Khodorkovsky."

"There's no limit to this fantasy," he said.

Khodorkovsky's parole hearing was seen as a test of new President Dmitry Medvedev's commitment to reforming the judiciary and combating what the Russian leader called "legal nihilism" in Russia.

But the defense was philosophical in defeat, pointing to the enormous task facing officials in overhauling the legal system, often criticized for its perceived lack of independence.

"It won't happen immediately," Klyuvgant said. This kind of reform "requires hard work and a very strong will."

Khodorkovsky will have another shot at parole in six months' time, Klyuvgant said, if the appeal fails.

Even if the judge had granted parole, Khodorkovsky would not have walked free. He is in pretrial detention on new charges brought against him and Lebedev in June. His pretrial detention has been extended to Nov. 2.

Note, the callers do not ask for your card number; they already have it.. This information is worth reading. By understanding how the VISA & Master Card Telephone Credit Card Scam works, you'll be better prepared to protect yourself.

One of our employees was called on Wednesday from 'VISA', and I was called on Thursday from 'Master Card'. The scam works like this: Caller: 'This is (name), and I'm calling from the Security and Fraud Department at VISA. My Badge number is 12460. Your card has been flagged for an unusual purchase pattern, and I'm calling to verify. This would be on your VISA card which was issued by (name of bank). Did you purchase an Anti-Telemarketing Device for $497.99 from a Marketing company based in Arizona?'

When you say 'No', the caller continues with, 'Then we will be issuing a credit to your account. This is a company we have been watching and the charges range from $297 to $497, just under the $500 purchase pattern that flags most cards. Before your next statement, the credit will be sent to (gives you your address), is that correct?'

You say 'yes'. The caller continues - 'I will be starting a Fraud investigation. If you have any questions, you should call the 1- 800 number listed on the back of your card (1-800 -VISA) and ask for Security.'

You will need to refer to this Control Number. The caller then gives you a 6 digit number. 'Do you need me to read it again?'

Sounds pretty authentic. They actually have all of the correct information. (What you don't know is that any such calls would be made by the issuing bank, not VISA nor MC.)

Here's the IMPORTANT part on how the scam works. The caller then says, 'I need to verify you are in possession of your card'. He'll ask you to 'turn your card over and look for some numbers'. There are 7 numbers; the first 4 are part of your card number, the next 3 are the security Numbers that verify you are the possessor of the card. These are the numbers you sometimes use to make Internet purchases to prove you have the card. The caller will ask you to read the 3 numbers to him. After you tell the caller the 3 numbers, he'll say, 'That is correct, I just needed to verify that the card has not been lost or stolen, and that you still have your card. Do you have any other questions?' After you say No, the caller then thanks you and states, 'Don't hesitate to call back if you do, and hangs up.

You actually say very little, and they never ask for or tell you the Card number. But after we were called on Wednesday, we called back within 20 minutes to ask a question. Are we glad we did! The REAL VISA Security Department told us it was a scam and in the last 15 minutes a new purchase of $497.99 was charged to our card.

Long story - short - we made a real fraud report and closed the VISA account. VISA is reissuing us a new number. What the scammers want is the 3-digit PIN number on the back of the card. Don't give it to them. Instead, tell them you'll call VISA or Master card directly for verification of their conversation. The real VISA told us that they will never ask for anything on the card as they already know the information since they issued the card! If you give the scammers your 3 Digit PIN Number, you think you're receiving a credit. However, by the time you get your statement you'll see charges for purchases you didn't make, and by then it's almost too late and/or more difficult to actually file a fraud report.

What makes this more remarkable is that on Thursday, I got a call from a 'Jason Richardson of Master Card' with a word-for-word repeat of the VISA scam. This time I didn't let him finish. I hung up! We filed a police report, as instructed by VISA. The police said they are taking several of these reports daily! They also urged us to tell everybody we know that this scam is happening.

Please pass this on to all your family, friends and neighbors. By informing each other, we protect each other.

Could be...; I could see plenty of reasons why someone would want to try and discredit the news I share with you all... except that the person who sent it to me has no interest in doing so, and neither did the sender of the previous hoax that unfortunately went out of my e-mail box.

Anna Geifman's cappuccino is getting cold as she talks about Hamas and its
motives. The energetic professor makes one point that leads to another,
and then to four more.

"I can talk about terrorism from today until doomsday," Geifman says with
a laugh, catching her breath and then adding, more seriously, "or until
they stop."

In Jerusalem, discussions of Palestinian terrorism do seem as if they'll
go on until doomsday, and the academics doing the talking are a dime a
dozen. What makes Geifman different is that her expertise lies in another
field, even in another era: revolutionary Russia. It's a subject she
teaches her students at Boston University and one that, she says, is
strikingly similar to modern times.

"Everything you see today - every single aspect of terrorism - you can see
it in the Russia of a century ago," she says.

Before our lives were changed by the likes of Hamas and Hizbullah, Geifman
notes, Russian society was devastated by rampant violence, from the
turmoil leading up to the peasant revolt of 1905, through the Bolshevik
revolution of 1917 and the establishment of the Soviet Union. Political
violence in Russia - what we call terrorism today - developed primarily in
Moscow and was perpetrated by "combat organizations" whose first targets
were government officials.

"This was old-time, traditional terrorism - targeting people very
carefully, assassinating people who were senior members of the government,
people who affected policy," Geifman says. "But then, they basically
killed whoever they could attack, and very often there was no connection.
Anyone who wore a uniform became a target - being a mailman was a very
dangerous occupation, for example."

Think attacks on police recruitment centers in Iraq are unique? Think
again, says Geifman, noting that a quarter of the police in Riga [Latvia] were
gunned down.

Think al-Qaida's informal, decentralized network of cells and spinoffs is
an innovation? Not so, she continues, saying that Moscow's combat
organizations spawned acolyte groups in outlying areas that often operated
independently from the headquarters that, sometimes, were totally unaware
of their existence.

As the bloodshed increased, Geifman says, "the violence descended into
indiscriminate killing. They were no longer attacking people in uniform,
but anyone who 'looked bourgeois.' If you had glasses, or a watch, or an
umbrella, then obviously you were too rich to be a proletarian. That is
where the descent into sheer terror begins."

At some points in the early part of the 20th century, Geifman says, as
many as 18 terrorist acts were carried out in Russia every day. That
rivals the murderous activity here in 2002, for example, or more recently
in Iraq. Likewise, the terrorism was similar.

"They would blow up train stations, they would blow up cafes," Geifman
says. "One such bombing was justified with the remark, 'We just wanted to
see how the bourgeois squirm in death.'"

Not only were the targets of the attacks indiscriminate, but so were the
attackers. Every other person, it seemed, was declaring himself a
"revolutionary terrorist" and joining one of myriad groups, with fanciful
names like "The League of the Red Fuse," in a hodgepodge of violent orders
that blurred together.

Like the mind-numbing proliferation of Palestinian terrorist groups (that
was so brilliantly lampooned by Monty Python) and the endless permutations
of jihadi militias, Russian revolutionary terrorists' claims of
ideological affiliation and aims became so convoluted that they often even
confused themselves. Terrorists testifying at their trials, Geifman notes,
were often unable to explain what they believed - or, sometimes, to even
accurately recall the full name of their organization.

"Some were honest enough to say, 'Who the hell cares about ideology? The
main thing is to kill.'"

SUCH SIMILARITIES between Russian terrorists and those on Israel's
doorstep are the subject of much of Geifman's work these days. Since
making aliya earlier this year - she plans to divide her time between
teaching in Boston and writing in Jerusalem - Geifman has spent extended
weekends in Sderot, meeting the people of the bombarded city and trying to
raise awareness of their plight. Knowledge of Russian history, she
believes, will provide valuable insight on the situation in Gaza City.

"Israelis know all about Hamas," she says, "but they don't know anything
about the Russian precedent. People have no clue that the origins of
terrorism are in Russia."

Geifman took a circuitous route to that knowledge herself. After moving
from the Soviet Union to Boston with her family in 1976, the teenager
"felt so un-American" that she took to studying Russian history as
something of a refuge. It led to her eventually writing a biography of
Viktor Chernov, leader of the Socialist-Revolutionary Party for which
terror was a chief strategy, as well as Thou Shalt Kill: Revolutionary
Terrorism in Russia and other works.

Since a sabbatical visit to Israel in 2000, Geifman has focused on modern
parallels to political violence in revolutionary Russia, especially in the
Middle East. She has also become more Zionistic and more religiously
observant.

Mostly, though, Geifman tries to sound the alarm about the dangers of
thinking that Hamas is moderated by its control of the Gaza Strip.

"Whenever I hear someone suggest that Hamas might become a more
responsible movement now that it is in charge, I think, 'Why don't you
read a little about the Bolsheviks and see if you still believe that?'"
she says.

It bothers her to hear speculation about Hamas being more open to
negotiating with Israel and softening its radical positions, when history
suggests otherwise.

"You want to know what happens when terrorists come to power? As soon as
terrorists come to power, they begin building on what they did to get
there. Look at the Bolsheviks, who were terrorists before they came to
power in 1917. They used this terror-based revolution to build a
terror-based state."

It's no surprise, for example, that Hamas is so heavily invested in its
"security forces," considering that the Bolsheviks established the
forerunner to the KGB less than a month after taking over. Terror states,
Geifman says, are based on a legacy, an ideology and a practice -
specifically, the legacy, ideology and practice of terrorism.

So when anyone suggests that seeing a terrorist group like Hamas come to
power in Gaza might actually be a positive development, Geifman says, "It
scares me like you can't imagine."

If her analogy of Hamas as the Bolsheviks of Gaza is accurate, then there
is "no way that Hamas will turn away from terrorism. No way! They will
remain an organization committed to terror," she says. "And the first
victims of Hamas rule will not be the Israelis, but the Palestinians
themselves - just as the the Bolsheviks' primary victims were not the
Poles, nor the Czechs, nor the Americans, nor anyone else, but the
Russians and the Ukrainians."

Avoiding this comparison, Geifman believes, turning to psychology, is an
effect of the terrorism with which Western society is bombarded.

"I think we suffer - I think the whole world now suffers - from a
collective Stockholm syndrome," she says. "Our problem is that we so want
to believe in the goodness of people that we can't see how bad some people
are. [There are people who] don't want to call these people terrorists.
Well, you can call them pussycats, if you want. But they're not going to
stop killing."

Geifman draws on the Beslan school massacre for comparison with the Gaza
terrorist groups' missile barrages on Sderot and the Western Negev, noting
that "they often fire their rockets in the morning, as children are going
to school, and in the afternoon, as they are on their way home from
school." Children, she notes, are symbols of life, and as such serve as
particularly attractive targets for groups whose culture is "death-based."

At this, Geifman turns to thoughts from her growing religious observance,
recalling the Torah's directive to "choose life."

"As Jews, we have an obligation to choose life, and to defend it.
Otherwise," she says, "death takes over." In spite of this bleak view,
though, Geifman says she is "very optimistic" that Hamas will eventually
fade away.

Why? "Because," she says, "in history, not a single death cult survives."

Furthermore, how they meet their end is instructive.

"One of the basic characteristics of violence in culture is that it is
like a living organism, in that it is mobile, and it must remain in motion
in order to survive," Geifman explains. "So long as the violence is
directed externally, it can maintain its momentum - but once it is
prevented from that goal, if you wall it off, it can't stop. Like any
organism, it must keep moving. So the violence turns on [its originators].
Consider the Nazis: When they could no longer kill others, they killed
themselves."

If history is a guide, she says, Hamas ought to pay attention.

"[Terrorist] leaders think that they control death, but in reality they
are merely agents of death," she says. "That is why every revolution
ultimately swallows itself."

Home Center customer Eli Chai arrived at his local branch at the Renanim Mall in Ra'anana last Tuesday, with the intent of buying a power drill, several tools and a number of other products. As the cashier began scanning his purchases at the checkout line, Chai noted that before passing each product the register computer would ask the cashier 'Minority Discount.' The cashier, said Chai, clicked 'no' and continued scanning the goods.

"I wasn't sure I had really seen what I thought I had," Chai recounted, "it was strange, I hadn't encountered anything like it before. I wanted to make sure, so I asked the cashier what the discount was, and why he was not giving it to me.

"He insisted that it wasn't a discount. But I said, cancel the purchase and scan it again. So he relented and said, 'It's a discount only for minorities'."

Chai claimed that, to his understanding, the chain offers a 10% discount on specific products for people belonging to a certain minority.

"I asked him what it meant, and he said, 'a discount only for Arabs'. I said, 'What do you mean, if I was Arab you would give me a discount?' He said yes. Definitively. It was really strange. I decided not to argue and to forgo the discount, so I paid full price for the products I had purchased.

"I didn't expect to get a discount, but I was appalled when I realized that had I been Arab I would have received one. I tried to think what would happen if it was a discount only for Jews, or Sephardim, or Ashkenazim," he concluded.

Home Center responded by stating that the controversial discount is company policy. "Home Center offers a wide range of attractive discounts throughout the year. As part of a plan to target specific communities, the chain offers different discounts for different sectors from time to time," the statement said.

Following Ynet's report, members of the far-right National Jewish Front - Itamar Ben-Gvir and Baruch Marzel - addressed an urgent letter to Attorney General Menachem Mazuz and to State Prosecutor Moshe Lador, in which they demanded that an investigation be launched against Home Center on the grounds that the discount constitutes discrimination, and is therefore unlawful.

HAARETZ TODAY:

Businessman Eliezer Fishman is in advanced talks with a group of foreign investors, some of whom are British, to sell 40 percent of his Home Center Do-It-Yourself chain based on a value of $120-$130 million.

The investors would inject some $50 million into the company to help it expand its international chain. Home Center recently opened a branch in Cyprus and is expected to open another one soon in Greece. The chain plans to eventually open branches in central and eastern Europe, primarily in the Russian market.

JERUSALEM – In an astonishing admission, the former president of Italy has confirmed his country provided Palestinian terror groups with sanctuary and the ability to establish internal bases in a secret pact in which the terrorists pledged not to target Italian interests.

"I always knew, though not by official documents and information kept from me, about the existence of an agreement based on 'don't harm me and I won't harm you' between the Italian Republic and organizations such as the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and the PLO," Former Italian President Francesco Cossiga revealed in a letter to the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera.

Cossiga was responding to an interview the newspaper conducted last week with Bassam Abu Sharif, a top Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, or PFLP, leader who claimed Italy provided his group in the 1970s with safe haven in a non-aggression pact.

"The terms of the agreement were that the Palestinian organizations could even maintain armed bases of operation in the country, and they had freedom of entry and exit without being subject to normal police controls, because they were 'handled' by the secret services," Cossiga wrote.

Cossiga stated the agreement was approved and directed by former Italian Premier Aldo Moro, who in 1978 was kidnapped and assassinated by the Italian terror group the Red Brigades.

At the time of the agreement, Cossiga was serving as Italy's interior minister. Palestinian groups in the 1970s carried out scores of attacks targeting European countries.

"During my time as interior minister I learned that PLO people were holding heavy artillery in their homes and protected by diplomatic immunity as representatives of the Arab League. I was told not to worry and I managed to convince them to lay down their heavy artillery and make do with light weaponry," Cosinga wrote.

The Italian pact apparently didn't work. Palestinian factions are blamed for several attacks against Italy in the 1970s and 80s, including an attack at Rome's airport and main synagogue and the infamous hijacking of the Achille Lauro cruise ship. The Rome airport attack was attributed by some to a breakaway PLO leadership.

Cossinga singles out Palestinian groups as responsible for a 1980 explosion at an Italian train station that killed 85 people and wounded 200 more. He says it may have been a "work accident" by Palestinians transporting explosives into Italy.

U.S., Israel Agree on Deal to Deploy 'X-Band' in Negev

(IsraelNN.com) The United States and Israel have agreed on a deal to deploy the X-band early-warning missile radar system in the Negev desert, said a spokesman from the Pentagon's Missile Defense Agency (M.D.A.). The new system of radars, which are linked to a U.S. satellite-based alert network, will be staffed by U.S. military personnel.

The announcement , which was published over the weekend in Defense News, said that although deployment was to have been put into action in 2009, it may be moved up to autumn 2008. This will mark the first time American military personnel are permanently based in Israel.

Peres Refuses to Pardon Halamish Brothers

(IsraelNN.com) President Shimon Peres has refused a request to pardon Itzik and Danny Halamish, two brothers who were convicted earlier this year of attacking Arab marauders who attacked them.

Danny, 35, was sentenced to seven months in prison, but his request for parole has already been granted, and he is set to be freed in a month. His brother Itzik, 28, was sentenced to eight months, and the Parole Board is to convene in three weeks' time to hear his case. If he is granted the customary one-third off for good behavior, he should be released a month later.

The beginning of the jail sentences for the two IDF combat unit veterans was delayed for several weeks while Peres considered their request for a pardon. However, in May, the Supreme Court denied their request to have their sentences pushed off for good until Peres would make his decision.

Arabs Attack, Jews Arrested
The brothers were convicted of attacking Arabs who infiltrated the fields of their town, Maaleh Rechavam in eastern Gush Etzion. Not only do they claim that the Arabs attacked first, they also say they did not shoot at all, and that the judicial process against them was faulty throughout.

The story began one day in February 2004, when an Arab gang entered the fields just outside the young Jewish townlet of Maaleh Rechavam. In accordance with accepted procedure, the Defense Ministry-hired local security officer called two members of the local fast-response security team - Danny and Itzik - and the three went out to banish the Arabs from the fields where Jewish children play.

It did not go smoothly, however. The mob of 20 Arabs attacked the Jews with rocks and even with sticks, and then surrounded them. The security officer shot at the ground in front of the Arabs, and then he and the Halamish brothers retreated.

"The next thing we knew," Danny Halamish later told Arutz-7, "the police came to arrest us - after the Arabs claimed that we had attacked them!"

Though the Jews filed a counter-complaint, the police later acknowledged that they never even interrogated the Arabs, Halamish said, "because of the weak claim that the Arabs had complained first..."

The site is just a kilometer away from the cave in which 13-year-old Kobi Mandell and his friend Yosef Ishran were brutally murdered while hiking in the area in 2001. The murderers, who were apprehended just several months ago, were still on the loose at the time of the Halamish incident.

The Halamish brothers and the local security officer spent a few days in jail, and were soon accused of assault and battery. The security officer, who admitted that he had shot, received a pardon for "personal reasons." But the two Halamish brothers said they "had nothing to confess, since we did not shoot. But even more importantly," added Danny, "I have no intention of apologizing for having gone out to protect Jews. Even if I have to sit in prison for a few months, I will not say that it is wrong to do what I did. What do we have a State for, if not to protect ourselves? The State has lost its way..."

Danny, married with two children, said that though his legal position was solid, "the courts took the strange position that because we didn't make certain claims at the right time, our conviction stands. This is unheard of. First of all, our legal claim is one that can be made at any time, and the courts are simply not following the law. But regardless of this: How can they send two upstanding citizens to jail merely because of a technicality? This is totally unjust."

Police Shoot the Guns Themselves, Thus Neutralizing the Evidence
The brothers said that when their weapons were taken from them, they were confident that the ballistics tests would show that they had not been fired. This would support the finding that all the bullet casings had been shot from the security officer's gun. However, the police did not check the guns; instead they fired them, claiming to want to see if they were in working order. Thus, the brothers' claim that they had not shot could no longer be proven.

Despite the lack of evidence against the brothers, and despite a recommendation by the probation officer that the sentence be only community service, Judge Amnon Cohen and two other judges of the Jerusalem Magistrates Court ruled that they believed the Arabs. The judges said they should be jailed to "serve as a lesson to others."

The brothers' subsequent appeals to the District Court and the Supreme Court were rejected, largely because the claim about the lack of police ballistic tests should have been submitted earlier.

Danny said that he and his brother were convicted because "the justice system simply doesn't know how to deal with Arab aggression. Therefore, the easiest targets for their frustration are those on the frontline - like us, in this case, and Shai Dromi, and the settlers [Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria] in general. If the legal system were to exonerate us, this would be an admission that we are doing the security job that the country is supposed to do on its own, but is failing at."

Attorney Sheftel's Presentation
Attorney Yoram Sheftel, representing the two brothers, said in one of the appeals, "My clients were convicted amidst total disregard of the police blunder in not having performed ballistic checks on the guns... In addition, the Arab identification of the brothers was done improperly, and is not acceptable as evidence."

Furthermore, Sheftel said, "there are no grounds for the judge having rejected my clients' claim that they acted with proper authority as part of their community's security team. Actions like the one they took are routine in many towns in Judea and Samaria."

Amazing revelations have emerged concerning already existing government plans to overhaul the way the internet functions in order to apply much greater restrictions and control over the web.

Lawrence Lessig, a respected Law Professor from Stanford University told an audience at this years Fortune's Brainstorm Tech conference in Half Moon Bay, California, that "There's going to be an i-9/11 event" which will act as a catalyst for a radical reworking of the law pertaining to the internet.

Lessig also revealed that he had learned, during a dinner with former government Counter Terrorism Czar Richard Clarke, that there is already in existence a cyber equivalent of the Patriot Act, an "i-Patriot Act" if you will, and that the Justice Department is waiting for a cyber terrorism event in order to implement its provisions.

During a group panel segment titled "2018: Life on the Net", Lessig stated:

There's going to be an i-9/11 event. Which doesn't necessarily mean an Al Qaeda attack, it means an event where the instability or the insecurity of the internet becomes manifest during a malicious event which then inspires the government into a response. You've got to remember that after 9/11 the government drew up the Patriot Act within 20 days and it was passed.

The Patriot Act is huge and I remember someone asking a Justice Department official how did they write such a large statute so quickly, and of course the answer was that it has been sitting in the drawers of the Justice Department for the last 20 years waiting for the event where they would pull it out.

Of course, the Patriot Act is filled with all sorts of insanity about changing the way civil rights are protected, or not protected in this instance. So I was having dinner with Richard Clarke and I asked him if there is an equivalent, is there an i-Patriot Act just sitting waiting for some substantial event as an excuse to radically change the way the internet works. He said "of course there is".

Lessig is the founder of Stanford Law School's Center for Internet and Society. He is founding board member of Creative Commons and is a board member of the Electronic Frontier Foundation and of the Software Freedom Law Center. He is best known as a proponent of reduced legal restrictions on copyright, trademark and radio frequency spectrum, particularly in technology applications.

These are clearly not the ravings of some paranoid cyber geek.

The Patriot Act, as well as its lesser known follow up the Domestic Security Enhancement Act 2003, also known as USA Patriot Act II, have been universally decried by civil libertarians and Constitutional scholars from across the political spectrum. They have stripped back basic rights and handed what have been described by even the most moderate critics as "dictatorial control" over to the president and the federal government.

Many believed that the legislation was a response to the attacks of 9/11, but the reality was that the Patriot Act was prepared way in advance of 9/11 and it sat dormant, awaiting an event to justify its implementation.

In the days after the attacks it was passed in the House by a majority of 357 to 66. It passed the Senate by 98 to 1. Congressman Ron Paul (R-Tex) told the Washington Times that no member of Congress was even allowed to read the legislation.

Now we discover that exactly the same freedom restricting legislation has already been prepared for the cyber world.

An i-9/11, as described by Lawrence Lessig, would provide the perfect pretext to implement such restrictions in one swift motion, as well as provide the justification for relegating and eliminating specific content and information on the web.

Such an event could come in the form of a major viral attack, the hacking of a major city's security or transport systems, or some other vital systems, or a combination of all of these things. Considering the amount of unanswered questions regarding 9/11 and all the indications that it was a covert false flag operation, it isn't hard to imagine such an event being played out in the cyber world.

However, regardless of any i-9/11 or i-Patriot Act, there is already a coordinated effort to stem the reach and influence of the internet.

We have tirelessly warned of this general movement to restrict, censor, control and eventually completely shut down the internet as we know it, thereby killing the last real vestige of free speech in the world today and eliminating the greatest communication and information tool ever conceived.

Our governments have reams of legislation penned to put clamps on the web as we know it. Legislation such as the PRO-IP Act of 2007: H.R. 4279, that would create an IP czar at the Department of Justice and the Intellectual Property Enforcement Act of 2007: S. 522, which would create an entire 'Intellectual Property Enforcement Network'. These are just two examples.

In addition, we have already seen how the major corporate websites and social networks are decentralizing and coming together to implement overarching identification, verification and access systems that have been described by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg as "the beginning of a movement and the beginning of an industry."

Some of these major tech companies have already joined efforts in projects such as the Information Card Foundation, which has proposed the creation of a system of internet ID cards that will be required for internet access. Of course, such a system would give those involved the ability to track and control user activity much more effectively. This is just one example.

In addition, as we reported yesterday, major transportation hubs like St. Pancras International, as well as libraries, big businesses, hospitals and other public outlets that offer wi-fi Internet, are blacklisting alternative news websites and making them completely inaccessible to their users.

These precedents are merely the first indication of what is planned for the Internet over the next 5-10 years, with the traditional web becoming little more than a vast spy database that catalogues people's every activity and bombards them with commercials, while those who comply with centralized control and regulation of content will be free to enjoy the new super-fast Internet 2.

We must speak out about this rampant move to implement strict control mechanisms on the web NOW before it is too late, before the spine of the free internet is broken and its body essentially becomes paralyzed beyond repair.

To understand the present we must review the past, so here goes:

1. The Cold War, i.e., Rome's war on Biblical nationalism, never ended. It was announced in 1999 at the Island of Malta, the Knights hosting Bush and Gorby, both Freemasons. But with the new false enemy, the "fanatical Moslems" taking the place of the "atheistic communists," the war on nationalism would continue unabated.

2. With the "end of the Cold War," the USSR became "Russia" or "The Former Soviet Union," enabling US corporations to pour high technology into Russia while demoralizing the Russian population with the creation of the pope's drug-running Russian Mafia aided by the former KGB, now the FSB/SVR. This is serving to drive the now anti-American Russian people into right wing Jesuit Fascism now overseen by the SMOMs who were readmitted into Russia in around 1991, St Petersburg and Moscow being its headquarters.

3. With the Vatican controlling both the governments of Washington and Moscow via the CFR in New York City and the RIIA in London, the war between Soviet Russia and Afghanistan was incited in order to justify the building of the Afghan Muhadin which became what is now the CIA's Al Qaeda Terrorist Network. This Network was created for the purpose of using it as a controlled enemy against the people of the US and the Western crusading armies in the future. Thus, both the US and Russia worked together to create Al "CIA" Qaeda for the ultimate extermination of the "heretic" Shia and then for the ultimate invasion of the "heretic and liberal" US.

4. Some time after Georgia "seceded" from the former Soviet Union, the US began to help advising the nationalists in building a working army. The question is if the Order is controlling both Washington and Moscow, why create an ostensible enemy for Moscow in nationalist Georgia, an enemy that opposes Russia and seeks an alliance with the EU?

5. The answer is to be found in the reason for this short, five-day invasion of Russia into Georgia. The US is propping up the true anti-Soviet nationalists of Georgia just as is being done in the anti-Soviet Ukraine which also is no longer in the Russian orb. The reason is to flush out the true, leading nationalists in order to kill them all in the future. This same tactic was utilized in Hungary in 1956, the CIA backing the nationalists and then betraying them into the hands of the Red Army and KGB. This was also done in Cuba in 1961 with the true Cuban nationalists being betrayed by the CIA into the hands of Jesuit Castro. This was also done in Czechoslovakia in 1968, the CIA inciting the nationalists to revolt, only to be betrayed into the hands of Kosygin's KGB and GRU of the USSR. Now the same thing is being done in Georgia: incite the true nationalists to resist the breakup of the country while aiding Georgia with the Mossad IDF and CIA mercs, only to be invaded and humiliated with no help to be given to Georgia by either the pope's Jesuit fascist US or the pope's Jesuit fascist EU.

This same tactic was used against the anti-communist nationalist Russians during WWII. They all fled to Russian General Vlasov's anti-communist, true nationalist Russian army. Vlasov, with 700,000 Russians, offered to fight for Hitler against Stalin. But Hitler betrayed Vlasov, refused to put him in the field until it was too late for Germany to win the war. Vlasov then surrendered his army to the Americans who then betrayed him and his men, sending them all back to Stalin to be tortured and murdered. Vlasov was tortured and hung by the Jesuits running the Lubyanka in Moscow. The Order's chief inquisitor in the Lubyanka was known for his sadism and cruelty, the real master of Stalin who lived with "Koba" in the Kremlin, Lubyanka General Alexander Poskrebyshev. All Russian nationalism was crushed by FDR and Hitler working together paving the way for Stalin to lead the USSR into the Cold War with little resistence from anti-communist Russian nationalists who were murdered by Eisenhower in his infamous "Operation Keelhaul," outraging General Patton. SMOM Eisenhower was then made the US president in 1952 by his master, Cardinal Spellman----the murderer of JFK.

This is how the Order's dialectic works---every time when no praying, Bible believers are in the mix.

Russia backed off Ossetia only after Georgia had been subdued.

Yes, there were mercs there from the US and Israel.

The Knights were setting up the Georgian leaders to lead their people into a calculated defeat as was the case with the Contras in Nicaragua in the 1980s

The real reason for the 4 Carrier Groups deployed to the Persian Gulf with their fighter groups is to wage war on Shia Iran. The entire Sunni world secretly backs this move, and Sunni Dubai will be protected by at least one Carrier Group.

I do not know the answer to your fifth question, but it is a surety that both Orthodox Georgia and the Orthodox Ukraine will be reabsorbed into Jesuit Fascist Orthodox Russia in the future. The breakup of the USSR allowed Jesuit Fascist NATO to absorb Roman Catholic Hungary, Roman Catholic Poland and Roman Catholic Czechoslovakia (Protestantism now being nearly destroyed in Czechoslovakia).

I believe Russia will be brought into the conflict sometime after the invasion of Iran. The leaders of all the nations are secretly working together and will coordinate their actions to be enforced by the intelligence agencies of every country as was the case in WWII and Cold War.

Indications Show Peace Now Front Group Being Laundered

(IsraelNN.com) The process of dismantling the front group used by Peace Now to receive US tax exemption status has apparently been stalled.

A resident of Ofrah, Dalia Laor, filed a complaint with the US tax authorities, against Americans for Peace Now and the Shaal Educational Projects group, claiming that monies earmarked for the educational organization were actually used by Peace Now for its political activities. Alleged discrepancies between the amounts reported to the US authorities and Shaal's reports to Israel's non-profit associations office have also been reported.

Recent revelations have shown that Peace Now in Israel is not actually a legal entity, and has raised funding via the Shaal educational association ever since the 1980's. Shaal's articles of association say nothing about political activity, and Israeli law forbids a non-profit association to deviate from its stated goals. Shaal's funding of Peace Now is thus apparently illegal.

Accountant Gabi Izak, who was appointed to investigate the matter by the Registrar, submitted a grave report on the link between Shaal and Peace Now. It appeared that the Registrar was about to begin dismantling Shaal as a result, following the precedent of Ir Shalem, another left-wing Peace Now-associated group.

However, recent developments indicate that the Registrar is changing his mind. Visits paid last week and this by concerned citizens - Dalia Laor of Ofrah and Dr. Jan Sokolofsky of Jerusalem - revealed that Shaal's file is unavailable for public perusal. The reason explained to them is that the file is "being attended to."

Sokolofsky told IsraelNationalNews that an office clerk told her, "This can mean only one of three things: Its name, or purpose, or articles of association are being changed."

The citizens expressed great concern that a Peace Now front organization is thus being "laundered." Laor says she will file an administrative court suit against the Registrar.

Peace Now has essentially set as its goal the removal of all Jewish presence from Judea and Samaria. It tracks Jewish construction in the area and has often sought out Arabs who then claim that Jewish-built land is actually theirs.

National Union party sources quoted in the Makor Rishon newspaper said, "Once again, serial law violators appear to be rewarded. Peace Now's activity has always served to fan tensions in Israel, and between Israel and its allies."

Prof. Hillel Weiss Indicted for Incitement

(IsraelNN.com) Bar-Ilan University Prof. Hillel Weiss was indicted in a Jerusalem court Wednesday morning for allegedly threatening a senior IDF officer during the expulsion of Jews from Hevron. He was reported to have told the commander of the Hevron brigade, "May your mother be bereaved, your wife be widowed, your children be orphaned and may you be struck down in the next war and any memory of you be erased."

The indictment also charged him with incitement against a parade of homosexuals in Jerusalem. Bar-Ilan University disassociated itself from his remarks and criticized the professor.

Behind the Lovely Face

Her face is sweet. Her blond hair falls casually over her eyes and she sweeps the wisps back behind her ears. Her head is angled to the side. Her designer pantsuits appear well cut. A few bulges appear here and there, but we forgive her. They've nicknamed her "Mrs. Clean".

Behind that lovely face and soft voice there lies a cruelty that only those from Gush Katif seem to remember. Her name is Tzipi Livni and she is front-runner to replace Ehud Olmert as Prime Minister of Israel.

I remember Tzipi Livni when she bolted from the Likud party in 2005 and joined Ariel Sharon in his hastily formed Kadima party. She became his protégé and willing partner in the crime of expelling Jews from Gush Katif. As Justice Minister, she gave legal backing to Ariel Sharon, his son Omri and their advisors, whose single aim was to protect the Sharons from prosecution by destroying the twenty-three communities of Gush Katif.

Tzipi Livni, who was raised in a right-wing Likud family, turned her back on her heritage and began her descent into perfidy. And she was the cruelest of them all.

In my book Eviction (Pavilion Press, 2005), a compilation of my blogs, I included a chapter titled "Imagery of the Holocaust". In this chapter, I described the plans being developed by the Kadima party to harass the people of Gush Katif. Livni was quoted from the Jerusalem Post of that period. These are excerpts of quotes attributed to Justice Minister Livni:

"Internment camps are being made ready for those who refuse to leave willingly."

"The Jews will be relocated."

"All possessions of those who oppose the expulsion will become state property."

"Children of demonstrators will be removed from their parents homes and sent to be re-educated."

"Parents will be indicted for putting their children into danger."

The internment camps for families were built deep in the Negev area. Activists who fought for Gush Katif were imprisoned there without trial. Today, the camps are used for African refugees who have entered illegally from Egypt. These primitive camps, in a sweltering climate, are a testament to the perversity of Tzipi Livni.

The Left, Peace Now, Amnesty International, et al. never once complained when these pronouncements were made and the camps were built. But more important than the words is the person behind them - Tzipi Livni. If these were her plans as Justice Minister, what will be her ability to thwart justice as a ruling Prime Minister?

Behind the sweet, self-effacing face is a crafty woman capable of implementing her plans for the destruction of Jewish communities when and where she pleases.

She must not become Prime Minister. She must be punished for past atrocities and planned future atrocities against her own people.

So where are all the Israeli Jews between 16-22? Well from 18-21 most of them are in the Army. They are locked out of the job market. It is that very age that is best for such things as construction work.

Do you think that the Arab youth that are working in construction will all be there until they are old men? Not at all. They will work at it for a few years either while they are learning some other profession or while they are saving up enough money to open a less taxing business. The same is true for every other sector of the economy. They are not locked out of the job market by the Army.

So it basically come down to the decision. Do we continue the policy of universal Army service (for Jews but not Arabs) or do we change the Army to a much smaller, more profession one and free up all that manpower to replace Arab labor with Jewish labor?

(IsraelNN.com) Recent terrorist attacks perpetrated by Israeli-Arabs working in Jerusalem have unleashed an undercurrent of suspicion in the hearts and minds of many Israeli citizens.

Unlike the Arabs of Judea and Samaria (Yesha), Israeli-Arabs hold Israeli citizenship and enjoy state benefits. Much of the Israeli public has largely considered them loyal citizens over the years.

That perception is changing.

The movement promoting Jewish Labor has gained momentum as a result of the recent attacks, and many Israelis now actively seek out services and suppliers which employ Jewish laborers only.

The following feature article on Jewish labor and the Jewish Labor Hotline originally appeared in Hebrew in the B'Sheva weekly, Israel's third largest-circulation newspaper. Information about the Jewish Labor hotline appears at the end of this article, along with some sample listings.

Should Arabs be Building your Home in Israel?

The following news report, published a week ago, is just another unremarkable headline of the many which are flooding internet news sites: Arab workers attack a Jewish Electrician, resident of Kiryat Gat, with a Hammer at a building site in Kibbutz Massuot Yitschak. The Jewish worker told the police that he did not even know his attackers as it was their first day at work - they began hitting him for no reason. The police have yet to determine whether the incident was nationalistically motivated or just an act of hooliganism.

After two terrorist driven bulldozers wreaked murderous havoc in the heart of Jerusalem just last month, one would expect the public not to need the story of the Kiryat Gat worker to understand how dangerous it is to employ Arabs. Yet surprisingly, the hiring of Arab workers is so entrenched in many sectors of Israeli industry that even those who experience the terror have a hard time changing. Rafi Bantal, security supervisor at Massuot Yitschak, said that the contractor in the case above was a private builder brought into the kibbutz. "Still", he admits, "the kibbutz also employ Arabs, but they all have work permits and someone armed accompanies them all the time they are here."

It's the same at Kibbutz Kfar Etzion, located south of Jerusalem, where, despite a terrorist attack foiled by a miracle at the Mekor Chaim Yeshiva high school just six months ago, there are over one hundred Arab workers. "I would be happy to see the situation change," says Efraim Somech, head of security at the kibbutz, "but it's hard to find Jewish workers for the jobs we have available. We also have to stay on good terms with the three Arab villages nearby, some of whose residents have been working here for many years. Arabs work in the entire Etzion area, in kitchens, offices, stores, groceries, on construction sites - just about everywhere."

B'sheva: After they infiltrated into the yeshiva high school library, aren't you afraid to allow them in?
Somech: "We worry about each and every one of them, but try to keep things in proportion. I am extremely strict about sticking to the quota of Palestinian workers I allow, so that at some point it pays for employers to look for Jewish workers."

"Jewish Labor" can Work
In contrast to Somech in Kfar Etzion, Danny Huerta, a garage owner in Kfar Adumim east of Jerusalem, has a more encouraging story. Huerta, originally from Sadot in the Sinai desert, was uprooted from his home there in 1982 and settled in Maale Adumim, later moving to Kfar Adumim. "I ran a cement factory for seventeen years", he notes, "employing Palestinians, until one day I just decided to do without them."

B'sheva: What caused the change?
Huerta: "It bothered me. I felt that as Jews we have to take care of our own people. I began to establish a new business and hired Jews only. I've been running my garage for years, and it costs me at least double to employ Jews, but there is no comparison when it comes to loyalty, level of professionalism and the atmosphere in the workplace." He claims that more customers come to his garage because of it.

The Kfar Adumim garage is one of about 2000 businesses that adhere to a "Jewish Labor" policy and are listed in the Hotline for Jewish Labor that began a year and a half ago. "The hotline was created in response to requests from employers looking for workers", claims Efraim Ben Shochat, one of its organizers, "but we also serve people looking for a mover, tile-layer, contractor, etc. who now know where to turn. We have businesses located all over the country in fields from catering to picture framing." The hotline sends teams to suitable businesses to suggest adding their name to the database. Other names are recommended by those already on the list. "To ensure high quality, we do satisfaction surveys among customers who have used the services. We recommend businesses with high ratings."

The site acts as an employment center for factories and businesses looking for Jewish workers as well.

The hotline has done little advertising during its one and a half year's existence, but the massacre at the Merkaz HaRav Yeshiva and the two bulldozer attacks shortly afterward led to a flood of requests and over 3000 users have contacted the hotline seeking services. "Every terrorist attack causes more requests to come in," says Ben Shochet, "and on the day of the first bulldozer attack, three contractors who need tractor drivers called and said that they cannot continue to employ and have coffee breaks with enemies after this horror. Others claim fear as the reason for calling, still others want to give Jews a way to make a living."

Business Owners think Twice
While the religious-Zionist sector is awakening to the issue of employing Jewish workers, the hareidi-religious sector is just beginning to come to an awareness of the issue.

After the Merkaz HaRav massacre, Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky issued a Jewish legal ruling banning the employment of Arabs. It is unclear how much of the hareidi business world heeded this ruling, but the Hevron Geula Yeshiva did so. Rabbi Kruezer, the head of the yeshiva, told Besheva that the yeshiva fired its two Arab workers, but had to do it carefully so as not to find itself accused of breaking equal employment laws. An Arab worker fired a month ago without any connection to his being an Arab, told students that he was considering a terrorist attack. The subsequent police interrogation claimed that there was no basis to his threats. Rabbi Kreuzer intends to end a fourth Arab's employment shortly. A well known hareidi yeshiva in Jerusalem, Kol Torah, stated that it has not employed Arabs for fifteen years, but refused further comment.

The 17-year-old Hadar Geula Restaurant in Jerusalem's Geula neighborhood changed over to Jewish labor five years ago. "At first", says owner Azriel Roth, "we had some non-Jewish workers, but we decided to change that even though we could save a good deal of money that way." The restaurant's 12 workers are all from the hareidi-religious sector.

B'sheva: What are the difficulties involved in hiring only Jews?
Roth: "There are tasks, such as dishwashing and floor scrubbing that it is easier to ask an Arab to do than a religious Jewish father with beard and sidelocks. The Arab is happy to do it, while the Jew has less physical strength and may feel somewhat humiliated by it, but we have decided to stick to our decision."

Roth is sure that most of the storeowners in Geula would prefer Jewish workers, but have a hard time finding them for the kind of work needed. "Now, customers demand Jewish workers because of the terrorist attacks, so everyone thinks twice before hiring an Arab. In addition, it is a wonderful feeling to have a minyan for the afternoon mincha and evening maariv prayers made up of your workers", he adds.

Israeli Arabs pose a Security Threat
Rabbi Dudi Dudkewitz of Yitzhar, one of the areas that actively advocates hiring Jewish labor, explains that there are Jewish legal imperatives for doing so: "First, it is the highest level of charity to give a needy person work instead of a handout. Second, there is a commandment to buy from one's brothers, as the Torah wishes to promote social consciousness and mutual caring among Jews. In addition, one is saving Jewish lives that might be lost in a terror attack and strengthening the settling of the Land of Israel by providing employment that keeps Jews from seeking work elsewhere and also encourages others to move here." The Rabbi noted the added danger of Jewish girls meeting young Arab workers and being enticed by them into eventual marriage, a tragic phenomenon that has occurred in all sectors including the hareidi-religious one.

B'sheva: How can the "Jewish Labor" ideal be advanced?
Rabbi Dudkewitz: "We must convince the public to support Jewish workers financially and accept the higher cost entailed. It is equally important to ensure that Jewish blue collar workers are accorded respect, that they are called to the Torah in synagogues as much as white collar workers and professionals."

But, Rabbi Dudkewitz says that patience is needed: "Jewish workers cost more and possibly may not be as experienced as Arab ones in certain fields. It will take time for the process to take root."

Betzalel Smotrich, who has organized rallies in favor of Jewish Labor, says: "It is time for us to erase the Green Line [1967 border] when we think about the Arabs here. Israeli Arabs are a fifth column who are trying to undermine the Jewish state and should have their citizenship revoked. Israeli society is not ready for this yet, but the attacks perpetrated by Israeli Arabs will change that."

Smotrich says his rallies bring the issue of Israeli Arabs to the attention of mainstream Israel. "This is a practical way to act on the point I made about Israeli Arabs. Employ Jews, buy from Jews, let our enemies know that we don't intend to finance them."

Advertisements for his most recent rally were signed by prominent Rabbis including Rabbi Yaakov Yosef (son of Rabbi Ovadiah), Chief Rabbi of Hevron Dov Lior, Rabbi of Elon Moreh Elyakim Levanon, and Rabbi Meir Mazoz. The ads defined the Arabs as the enemy, and pointed to the conclusion to refrain from employing and supporting them in any way. Smotrich advises the Israeli public to "look the issue in the face and realize that this is a survival issue. Hiding one's head in the sand is not an option", he concludes.

It seems that Israel's Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is doing everything to keep his power of office.   For this he will 1. do anything for publicity. 2. do anything to de-rail the peoples' and investigators attention from his 6 or 8 scandalous investigations - and 3. do anything he can to retrieve his historical legacy from the mire of these investigations.

Recently, we see Olmert up to his neck in criminal investigations and wonder:

*How did he and his collaborators, both in the Kadima Party and partners outside of Government seemingly get away with so much misfeasance and malfeasance of office for so long?

*How is it that the GSS (General Security Service), i.e. the Shabak, didn't know   They pretended they did not have a clue.   Or did they know and choose to stifle their professional responsibilities?

*Did Mossad and Shabak Directors also know but choose to either do nothing or, in fact, force Olmert to obey their directives - especially in evicting Gush Katif/Gaza and Northern Samaria?

In parallel, it is no secret that Super Powers like the U.S., Russia and other influential nations - Britain, China, France - keep detailed accounts of their leaders. The process is not only to predict likely actions but to compile dossiers on things their leaders do not want known.   With such information, one nation could easily blackmail another nation to comply with whatever they want.

Israel's leaders have too often been caught at illegal behavior and, therefore, are too easy to blackmail.   Arik Sharon was about to be indicted for a number of illegal deals when he had his strokes.

*Did the CIA, FBI, NSA and dozens of other U.S. Intelligence Agencies have the goods on Sharon?   Probably.

We should all remember the infamous files of J. Edgar Hoover on government officials/politicians which he used like a subtle whip to have them do as "he" thought best.

*Do you recall Kurt Waldheim who kept his secret of being an SS officer as he controlled the U.N.?   But, the Soviets knew and pulled on his leash whenever they wanted certain agreements or lack of action by the U.N. Security Council.

Ehud Olmert was a twisty lawyer and is being charged with many illegal things for which he was ashamed (or should have been). He was the perfect target for blackmail once he reached the highest office in Israel.   Even before the current scandals broke to the general public, he was already malleable to orders coming from President Bush, Secretary Rice and the pro-Arab U.S. State Department - which further complied with various "wishes" emanating from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, etc.

Ehud Olmert, in his July 30th speech of "almost" resignation, said he "made some mistakes" which was like he was a naughty child saying "I'm sorry Mommy for breaking your dishes".   What Olmert broke was the security and sovereignty of the Jewish nation. He misused the power of office like a tyrant, both for personal gain and to fulfill the orders of foreign nations who were protecting their own interests - not Israel's.

*Do you remember Elhanan Tannenbaum, an Israeli businessman who went to Lebanon to close a deal and was taken hostage? Reports intimated that he was a drug dealer.

*Why did Sharon trade 450 Terrorists to get him back?

*Where did the money go when Tannenbaum was in a position to help old friends among the politicians of Israel?

Of course, this would be speculation and hearsay since Tannenbaum was never brought to trial.

*One does wonder if Israeli high-ranking politicians and/or judges were on a drug payroll?

*Is this why Olmert didn't invade Lebanon soon enough or deeply enough to defeat Hezb'Allah in 2006?

*Was he getting and/or does he still want to get Syrian and Lebanese drug money pouring out of the poppy fields in Lebanon? He is known to like getting envelopes of cash. Who is paying him now?

*Is this perhaps why Ehud Barak, when he was Prime Minister, precipitously withdrew from Lebanon? Were Israeli troops possibly getting in the way of the Opium/Heroin Poppy Harvest?

In America, Al Capone one of the biggest Chicago mob bosses and had Police, Judges, Senators on his payroll. Their job was to keep Capone out of prison for his various crimes of bootlegging liquor during Prohibition, also prostitution, protection rackets, loan sharking, murder and every other crooked vice that existed.

Unfortunately, Israel apparently has some of the same vices, plus some level of illegal drug use and traffic, so

*Who at the political level is being paid off?

*Also, who are known as "takers" able to be blackmailed into obedience?

Presently, we watch PM Olmert and his Kadima Gang maneuvering to stay in power as long as they can. Why should they spoil a good thing of their big salaries and perks, etc.?

Other things I wonder about:

*Will Shimon Peres as President issue a quick pardon for Olmert, in order to cut off further investigations of his (Peres') own illegal dealings?

*Who knows where these various 6 or 7 Police investigations against Olmert could lead? Many politicians do not want to be identified as having taken bribes. (Who would?) Some may have gotten specially lucrative deals in business, monies that may have never been reported to the tax authorities.

*Would high ranking individuals like DM Ehud Barak or even President Peres himself turn up in someone's black book of clients?

In a prior article, I speculated as to whether Olmert and his Kadimites might even now be shredding documents, clearing computers of their hard drives and insuring that there is no evidence left behind. Some will recall when Olmert was Mayor of Jerusalem he ordered all the files destroyed on illegal Arab/Muslim buildings in Jerusalem. These buildings would have been demolished but Olmert cleaned the blotter of their existence plus insuring sufficient time had pass so no legal action could be taken.

*Why would the Mayor of Jerusalem shield illegal Arab housing?

*Was it for money?

*Did Olmert want Jerusalem compromised for a future division of the Jewish Capital City?

*Was he being blackmailed by the pro-Arab U.S. State Department?

*Or was he merely following the earlier Rabin-Peres plan to use Highway #1 which divided Jerusalem into East and West in preparation for re-partition?

After Olmert made his TV speech that he would resign (after Kadima picks his successor sometime in September) suddenly Israelis and other accommodating Leftist Media started to run stories about his inability to pursue certain "piece" deals he has been negotiating with Mahmoud Abbas of Fatah and Bashar Assad of Syria. This question was answered when his chief negotiator for surrendering the Golan Heights to Syria suddenly tendered his resignation. "But" he would stay on and continue his work under some unnamed date in the future.

It seemed to me that Olmert has started a deliberate dis-information campaign about how he no longer needed to be watched so carefully because he was now a lame duck Prime Minister.

*Is he really?

Perhaps the story goes something like this: While everyone ignores him and speculates on elections (a favorite Israeli sport), Olmert is in deep collusion with Condi Rice to complete what they started - as follows:

As Prime Minister, Olmert seems about to issue a proclamation that Judea and Samaria are officially no longer part of Israel and are to be completely turned over Abbas' Palestinian Authority.

In another proclamation from the office of Prime Minister, Olmert may issue a document of "quit claim" (or merely a verbal proclamation) to award Bashar of Syria the Golan Heights, down to the shores of the shrinking Kinneret.

With another kingly flourish Olmert then could agree to a dual Israeli/Palestinian or Jewish/Muslim government in Jerusalem.

Since this would be in collusion with the "lame duck" President Bush and Secretary Rice regime, no doubt, along with the European Union, the U.S., E.U., U.N. and Russia (the so-called Quartet) would quickly ratify Olmert's proclamations as binding - without any approvals by the Israeli people or the Knesset.   Israel would be "caught by his (Olmert's) tongue".

So, as you can see, Olmert and the Kadima crowd, along with Bush and Rice need to keep things quiet until the verbal trap is sprung.   Olmert must adopt a posture of weakness and, of course, the Leftist Media and NGOs in Israel must assist in the illusion.

This shame could be ended IF the Knesset decides it's best for the nation to dissolve the Government and immediately go to elections.   But, what may be good for the nation may not be good for the current Knesset as they continue to receive their bloated salaries, expenses and other perks.   Yes, indeed, better to stay employed and let the nation be endangered.

There are many other questions - but, that's enough for now.

The Real Israeli Interests in Lebanon

When facing atrocities like those caused by the "Grapes of Wrath" operation, it is more important than ever not to lose sight of the real reasons the atrocities are committed. It means asking ourselves what are the real Israeli interests in Lebanon. Those interests are not connected with security of the northern Israeli localities. On the contrary, the security of those places (and the sight of their inhabitants sitting in their shelters) are an excuse for the pursuit of the real Israeli interests.

The proof of this is simple: For almost seven years, from June 1985 to February 1992, there was no attack from Lebanon on Israeli territory. Then in February 1992, Israel killed a Hezbollah leader, Sheikh Mussawi, together with members of his family, while they were driving in a car north of the "Security Zone" occupied by Israel and its mercenary force, the "South Lebanon Army" (SLA). The first shelling of Israel by the Hezbollah only occurred after this murder. It is obvious that Israeli interests in keeping the "Security Zone" under its control must be very great, because it risked a shelling of its population in order to try and lessen the danger to the "Zone" by killing a leader of the forces which up to that point had not assaulted Israel.

What are those interests? We have to go back to the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982 in order to understand them. One of the first things that Israel did on invading Lebanon was to remove the customs barriers separating the two countries, as far as entry of Israeli merchandise is concerned.

Ordinary Lebanese goods are still forbidden to enter Israel, although a brisk import of drugs (re-exported to other countries) is going on. But Israeli merchandise enters Lebanon with the full encouragement of the Israeli government, without paying custom duties of any kind, and is also re-exported to other countries.

Needless to say, such a situation is totally unprecedented. It was first seen as such even in August 1982, by that staunch Israeli ally, Lebanese President Bashir Gemayel who, when meeting Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin in Nahariya, made him very angry by requesting that the customs barriers be restored at the internationally recognized border between the two countries. Begin angrily rejected the demand of his ally, who soon after was assassinated under mysterious conditions, and there are no customs barriers to this day. The Lebanese government had tried several times to set customs north of the "Zone," but each time the response was an Israeli bombardment which lasted until the barriers again were removed.

The presence of the Israeli navy in Lebanese territorial waters is largely intended to protect Israeli trade.

Thus it can be presumed that the main Israeli aim in Lebanon is the economic exploitation of this country and other Middle Eastern states, and that the use of the "Zone" is to serve as an instrument for the realization of this aim. "The solution" often proposed by former Prime Minister Shimon Peres with regard to the "Zone" also indicates real Israeli aims. He offered an Israeli withdrawal from it, but only on condition that "the South Lebanon army will be integrated in the Lebanese army." That is, on condition that Israel will continue to rule the "Zone."

Let me now illustrate in some detail how the "Zone" functions, by quoting from two articles by Ronen Bergman (Ha'ir, Tel Aviv's Friday newspaper, July 15 and 22, 1994) which, as the author himself admits, rely exclusively on official Israeli sources. Bergman says (July 15) that Lebanon is treated by Israel as an ordinary export market.

By Israeli law, agricultural exports are a monopoly of a government-owned company, "Agrexco," the director of whose Lebanese department, Yossi Tzafrir, and its present spokesman, Hayim Keller, were Bergman's crucial sources of information. Bergman also was helped by the director of the Lebanese department in the Agriculture Ministry, Benny Gabbay.

"Only since 1982 has all of Lebanon stood open to Israeli trade," says Tzafrir. He insists that tough measures on the part of the Israeli security forces were, after the invasion, needed to enforce the monopoly of "Agrexco," which alone was allowed to deliver Israeli agricultural produce to several locations right behind the Lebanese border. A few duly authorized Lebanese merchants could appear at those locations in order to buy what they were offered, reload the merchandise onto their own trucks and transport it to wherever they pleased.

But, complains Tzafrir, after the June 1985 Israeli withdrawal from a large chunk of south Lebanon, "land traffic became problematic." At first Israel approached the SLA for help. Bergman complains about the SLA's incompetence and even obstacles set up by its commander, General Antoine Lahad, to smooth operations of the Israeli trade.

He gives examples: "At all stages of Israeli trade with Lebanon and other Arab countries, senior SLA officers insisted on pocketing a hefty share of the profits. General Lahad's private driver was one of the main go-betweens between Israel and the Lebanese merchants, notwithstanding the fact that the Israeli army branded him 'a butterfly' on account of his cowardice."

Bergman's July 22 article describes in ample detail how General Lahad would from time to time (apparently when he felt relatively strong vis-a-vis Israel) temporarily ban imports of specific commodities into his "Zone" in order to thus extort a heftier bribe.

Alternatives to the SLA

It was thus found advisable to search for a trade route that would not depend on Lahad's good graces. The first-adopted solution was to let some major interested Lebanese merchants live in Israel, and thus place them beyond Lahad's reach.

In his July 15 article, Bergman portrays one of the richest among those merchants, Amin El-Haj. "For over 15 years he was handling a large part of Israeli trade with Lebanon and indirectly with other Arab countries. Now he is living in Nahariya, connected by a special phone line to the central Lebanese phone-exchange."

The next stage in bypassing Lahad was to construct a harbor in Nakura, in the "Zone," made off-limits for the SLA. From Nakura, ships would take the Israeli produce to Beirut and other Lebanese ports. "Often those ships would be escorted by an Israeli navy escort up to a safe distance from Beirut." Actually, explains Tzafrir, most of those ships, "which navigate under the flags of various Latin American countries," don't depart from Nakura, except in their records. "They really depart from Haifa or Ashdod." Needless to say, the uninterrupted and massive presence of the Israeli navy in Lebanese territorial waters, although normally justified as an "anti-
terrorist measure," is largely intended to protect Israeli trade.

Let me refrain from further descriptions, especially in the view of the constantly changing nature of that trade, directed not only to Lebanon but through it to other Arab countries. Instead, let me pass to the second economic Israeli interest in Lebanon, also served by its rule of the "Zone," namely the drug trade.

Although there are plentiful sources, I will rely on a comprehensive article by Etty Hassid ("Yerushalaim," Jerusalem Friday Paper, July 22). She offers her conclusions at the very beginning of her article: "Even though it may be hard to believe, the state of Israel is actively engaged in drug trade, especially on its northern Lebanese borders. The participants are on one side the Israeli army, Shabak, Mossad and the Israeli police, and on the other side, Lebanese drug merchants, Israeli Bedouins from the Negev and retired [Israeli] senior officers. The operational principle is: We will close our eyes to all the filth to which you stoop, and even give you some money, if only you provide us with intelligence of interest to us. In my article I am going to prove it or at least to substantiate it as highly probable on the basis of the trials of large-scale drug merchants.

"Since I was forced by censorship to skip some facts, let me tell you that the realities are even more ghastly than what you find here. What I do reveal is ghastly enough. It turns out that the state of Israel, which professes to wage an uncompromising struggle with the epidemic of drug addiction, is in reality the largest-scale importer of drugs in the Middle East. It is as if we were trying with one hand to apprehend the drug users and peddlers or at least pretending to do so, while using the other hand to plunge the syringe deep into the drug addict's veins."

As evidence for this conclusion, Hassid uses minutes of secret trials of both Israelis and Lebanese charged with big drug offenses in Israeli courts. But she also says that "in recent years a number of publications have appeared abroad disclosing information about involvement in drug trade by individuals serving in Israeli security services." She discusses in detail only one such affair, which she investigated by approaching the Israeli lawyer of one defendant so involved, Yosef Amit, an ex-major in military intelligence Unit 504. According to the London magazine Foreign Report of July 1993, this unit was known as 'mini-Mossad.'"

As sometimes happens to people in "the only democracy of the Middle East," Amit "disappeared" in 1986 and his name couldn't be mentioned in the media. The London publication then revealed that he had been secretly sentenced in Israel for unspecified "security offenses" in Lebanon. Foreign Report disclosed that Amit's offenses were connected with the regular work of military intelligence Unit 504, whose agents are remunerated by hashish acquired in "special operations in Lebanon." The drug was said to be transferred to Cairo whenever needed.

According to Hassid, Amit's subordinate was caught selling hashish "apparently derived from the military intelligence central stockpiles" for his own profit. Since "the suspicion rebounded on Amit," he also was charged.

"Officially Accepted" Drug Trading

Hassid also was able to record other trials of high-ranking Israeli officers serving in Lebanon who were charged with trade in hard drugs. In the case of Colonel Meir Binyamin, charged with such trade in 1989, the accused was acquitted, since the court accepted the argument of his advocate, Meir Ziv, that his client's undenied involvement in the drug trade was carried out under orders of his superiors and conformed to an "officially accepted method of trading in drugs." Colonel Binyamin also claimed, rather plausibly, that "in reality the Israeli authorities are manipulated by large-scale Lebanese drug traders who are exploiting their good relations with the [Israeli] police for the sake of smuggling enormous quantities of drugs behind their backs."

In substantiating this claim, two Israeli witnesses, subcontractors of large-scale Lebanese drug merchant Ramzi Nahara, "with long records of excellent cooperation with Israel," testified that in one of their operations they "smuggled 250 kg. of heroin into Israel." Ramzi Nahara himself also testified in this case. Hassid describes Nahara's deals in detail.

Let me select only one of his feats. A single transport, detected in Israel by sheer chance by the traffic police due to a minor traffic infraction, consisted of 3,000 kg. of hashish destined for re-export to Egypt. Let me quote here an opinion of advocate Ziv with which I concur. "The state of Israel is by far the largest importer of drugs into Israel itself. The import is sponsored by the police, under the hardly credible pretext that it will help catch drug offenders."

Many more stories of this nature could be adduced, but the Israeli involvement in the drug trade warrants some conclusions in regard to the nature of political realities in the Middle East. There are grounds to suspect that Israeli encouragement of the drug trade, and consequently also of drug consumption, cannot be entirely explained by the familiar excuse of acquiring intelligence, extending influence and reaping profits. Part of the motivation must be to weaken the disaffection of Middle Eastern masses by encouraging drug addiction and thus promoting political apathy. The suspicion can be buttressed if we consider the known facts about the encouragement of Palestinian drug dealers by the Israeli authorities. The coddling of Palestinian drug dealers was one of the reasons for the outbreak of the intifada.

Lastly, massive involvement of Israeli intelligence in drug trafficking must be condoned by its American opposite numbers. Ample precedents exist for that kind of policy. However, a support for the Is-raeli drug trade is a rather safe affair. If Israeli involvement in the narcotics trade were exposed in the U.S., powerful organizations such as AIPAC would scream bloody murder.

A lot of American liberals, happy to denounce American intelligence for encouraging drug traffickers, would protest if Israeli intelligence were denounced for anything. For example, the invasion of Panama was said to be launched for the sake of suppressing the drug trade: yet the well-documented Israeli connections with Noriega passed almost unnoticed by the U.S. media. It can therefore be tentatively presumed that in its encouragement of drug traffic and traffickers, as in much else, Israel is secure so far as the U.S. media are concerned. This would at least partly explain why this policy works.

All this is somewhat distant from the affairs of Lebanon as described by the U.S. media. I have, however, no doubt that it is the Israeli economic interest, as represented by an export of goods without customs and traffic in drugs, that determines the Israeli insistence on keeping the "Zone" under its rule.

The Israeli wars in Lebanon should be compared to the Opium Wars of the 19th century. For an effective pursuit of the trade interests described here, Israeli rule over the "Zone" is necessary, and this, in turn, guarantees the continuation of the wars in Lebanon.

Hizbullah Targeting Israelis in Africa

(IsraelNN.com) The Hizbullah terrorist party is planning to attack Israelis in West Africa on the Ivory Coast, where Shi'ite immigrants from Lebanon comprise a large percentage of the local population. Israelis, working in construction and in the diamond industry, have been warned to maintain a high alert.

Hizbullah previously has said it would target Israelis around the world following the February assassination of its mastermind Imad Mughibyeh in a car bombing in Damascus. Syria and Hizbullah have pointed fingers at Israel, which has denied involvement in the incident.

Let me share a story Bill Dull told me this past week July 21, 2008. It is sobering and not from one who is a rumor-monger or paranoid tale-spreader. Bill Dull, as many know, is a solid, reputable missionary to India for many years, who with his wife, has established 2 orphanages and 2 seminaries in India plus 2 institutions in USA - Beautiful Valley in WV along with a beautiful SDA church still there even though the little academy closed many years ago; also Living Springs in NY which closed finally last year because the NY officials wouldn't quit taxing them unmercifully even though they were tax exempt. God has blessed them in many ventures.

He has a close relative in another state (Wildwood, GA) that called him just about 2 weeks ago with the following story. This man was raised SDA but is not one now. He is obviously beginning to think about Bible prophecy by relating this to Bill. He is wealthy and owns a business. His wife also owns a lucrative business selling fashionable women's things. People come from all over the state to her store. Two days before this phone call to Bill she received a client - a wealthy lady friend of hers and client - who told her this:

"My son is a Catholic priest - high up in the US hierarchy of priests. He goes to the Vatican (in Rome, Italy) about every 2 weeks and just returned 2 days ago. He told me - 'Mother, before the elections in November there will be a great crisis in the United States. Because of this crisis, life as we know it now will never be the same again. The American lifestyle will change and no-one will ever be able to carry it out the same again - never!'"

Why would a priest go back and forth every 2 weeks or so to the Vatican if he weren't involved in planning "the crisis" - whatever that is that will affect everyone of us. He must be pretty important to the mission of accomplishing this. Who else is involved?

Dichter: Budget Cut Hurts Police Badly

(IsraelNN.com) Public Security Minister Avi Dichter voiced anger Sunday after a government vote to cut NIS 57 million from his ministry's budget for the next year. This amount comprises 15 percent of the total cuts approved by the government from the different ministries.

"The cuts," he said, "will badly hurt the police's status and its attempts to upgrade its abilities in the stations and to provide personal safety to the public."

JERUSALEM -- Israeli police, in what appears to be a new tactic to quell
Jewish nationalists, have begun to use Arab provocateurs in the West Bank.
Police have acknowledged that they used Arab stone throwers to stop
young Jews from hiking through the West Bank on July 29.
Police detective Aharon Yair told a Jerusalem magistrate that Israeli
security forces colluded with Arab provocateurs as part of an ambush to
arrest the hikers.
Yair, when questioned by defense attorney Naftali Wurtzburger, admitted
that special police forces, disguised in civilian clothes but wearing police
hats, hid in an ambush together with Palestinian Bedouin waiting for the
Jewish hikers to arrive.
W."I am telling you that most of these hikes end quietly."
Y. "The fact is that were police forces there. We understood that like last
week, when there was a violent incident when they [the hikers] came to them
[the Bedouin] with weapons, we were ready because we knew that this was a
place of confrontation. They [Bedouin] set up cameras and therefore the
police were there."
W. "If the police were there and watched the confrontation, what was the
problem of the police to stand openly and prevent them [the hikers] from
passing and if it was not permitted, to stop them. The situation, as I see
it, looks like an ambush. Somebody hides out like thieves in the night."
Y. "I'm not the one who decides. There are officers above me who decide what
is overt and what is concealed."
W. "You agree that special police forces were in the area at that time?
Y. "That's what I said."
W. "You said that they were in disguised civilian clothes?"
Y. "They wore a police hat and they shouted that they are police and
identified themselves as police. Some were in a hiding place and some waited
on alert."
Police arrested five Jewish hikers near the Jewish community of Kockav
Hashachar, including three adults, Netanel Kaufman, David Hai and Yitzhak
Yisrael Hai and two minors, as they passed by a Bedouin encampment, close to
the Jewish outpost of Maoz Esther. One of the armed escorts of the group of
about 100 hikers shot in the air to disband the Bedouin, whom they said had
thrown rocks at them, causing a rock-throwing melee. At least three settlers
were injured, including one who had to be hospitalized, after a Bedouin hit
him over the head with a stick.
Yair said that three Bedouin were arrested but were handed over to the
military prosecutor who had released them. None of the Bedouin were injured.
Leaders of the "Land of Israel Faithful" said the young hikers were
undeterred by the police ambush and continued on their four-day walk.
"All of sudden policemen disguised as civilians but with police hats
suddenly came out from behind a small hill and arrested the person who shot
in the air and some of the armed escorts," Daniella Weiss, a Jewish
dissident and one of the organizers of the hike," said.
Weiss said that the police intended to arrest the armed escorts so that
the group would have to abandon the hike but the youth continued and later
succeeded in circumventing police cordons outside Jerusalem.
"Police were surprised that to see how we managed to break through their
barriers and we appeared, 200 youths, under their noses," Weiss said. "After
that they let us continue."
Wurtzburger said that police knew of the hiker's route and hid near the
Bedouin encampment to ambush the young Jews.
"This incident is the direct result of a police provocation,"
Wurtzburger, said. "There is an outpost next to Kochav Hashachar where tens
or hundreds of people intended to pass by openly. The police were hiding out
in the place in collusion with the Bedouin when the Bedouin, at least that's
the version we have, began to attack verbally and physically the hikers
until they withdrew and defended themselves."
Despite the lack of formal charges or evidence, [Kaufman, a heart
patient is shown standing on the side in video footage], Jerusalem
Magistrate Shirli Rener sentenced all five to expulsion from Judea and
Samaria, apart from the area of their own homes.
"The respondents do not have any criminal past but we are talking about
a serious incident which could have ended differently," Rener said on July
30. "After I have considered all the actions that are attributed to the
respondents in the incident, I am heeding the words of the petitioner's
representative that other such incidents can be expected in the near
future."
Rener sentenced Kaufman and Hazut to expulsion from Judea and Samraria
for 20 days and Hai to 40 days and she imposed a 3,000 shekels [$882] on
each of them as well as on a third party guarantor. The two youths received
sentences of 20 days and five days expulsion plus a bond of 3,000 shekels
respectively.
On July 23, police arrested three Jewish hikers and a minor near the
Jewish community of Maalei Michmas in the West Bank. They were suspected of
vandalizing Bedoiun property. The three adults, Efrion Oppenheimer, Arieh
Davis and Alexander Ostrovsky, were sentenced to 90 days expulsion from
Judea and Samaria and a personal bond and the third party guarantee of
10,000 shekels [$2,942], despite the lack of a complainant or formal charges
and police testimony that the suspects did not perpetuate the vandalism but
were in the place at the time and were therefore responsible.
During the hearing before Jerusalem Magistrate Ilta Siskind, Yair
testified that the police did not have a complainant or any physical
evidence of charges of suspected vandalism of Bedouin property. The police
also failed to conduct identification procedures.
Over the last year, police and prosecutors have acknowledged in court
hearings human rights violations against Jewish nationalists.
However, Israeli courts have generally ignored these violations which
included arbitrary arrests, unprovoked assault of minors at peaceful
demonstrations and detention for long periods of time without formal
charges.
Israeli mainstream human rights groups refused to intervene in the
violation of rights of those deemed Jewish nationalists.
"As far as we know they haven't turned to us," Nirit Moskowitz,
spokeswoman for Association of Civil Rights in Israel, said.
The lions share of funding for most of these organizations has come from
the European Union and from the United States.

The historical record makes it nonsense to regard the formation of a Palestinian state as anything other than a collective, internationally-approved land grab in itself in an area mandated by the League of Nations as a Jewish homeland.

The Israeli government's present intention of holding on to a sliver of the West Bank within the perimeter of the security fence is an issue of serious import and is widely regarded as an illegal land grab. Yet the issue is by no means as simple as it has been made out to be and cannot be cursorily decided to the advantage of the hypothetical Palestinian state.

First and foremost, this is the same West Bank from which Jews were expelled in 1929. It was never "Palestinian" territory in the first place and no political entity called "Palestine" ever existed except as a Roman provincial designation revived in the twentieth century as a Mandatory appellation. The West Bank was conquered from Jordan in a defensive war and Jordan subsequently waived its claims and rights to the area. Military and demographic considerations remain justifiably paramount in official Israeli thinking. Along with the entirety of Gaza, fully 94% of the disputed territory (altogether, 97.5% if one includes Gaza in the calculation) would be ceded to the Palestinian Authority.

Indeed, the original Article 24 of the PLO Covenant explicitly states that "this Organization does not exercise any regional sovereignty over the West Bank…" It was only in the wake of the 1967 war, after Jordan had lost the territory, that the article was revised to assert the Palestinian claim.

Article 22 of the League of Nations Covenant of 1919 specifies that the tutelage entrusted to the "advanced nations" over the "colonies and territories which as a consequence of the late war have ceased to be under the sovereignty of the States which formerly governed them" should be "exercised by them as Mandatories on behalf of the League" (italics mine).

This Article, which is the source of the Palestine Mandate of 1922, envisioned the preparation of the colonies and territories under its administration for self-rule on a country by country basis, with Palestine forming a special case. The special status of the Palestine region was underwritten in Article 95 of the Treaty of Sèvres in 1920, thus differentiating treatment of this region from the Mandates for Syria and Mesopotamia, owing, obviously, to the unique factor in the administrative equation presented by the Jewish element.

No less important, Article 95 affirmed the Jewish right to plenary settlement, determining to "put into effect the declaration originally made on November 2, 1917, by the British Government, and adopted by other Allied Powers"; and the San Remo Resolution in 1920 incorporated the terms of both the Balfour Declaration of 1917 and of Article 22 of the League of Nations Covenant, as did the Treaty of Sèvres. The League of Nations Palestine Mandate recognized both "the historical connection of the Jewish people with Palestine" and the right to "reconstitute their national home in that country." It further stipulated the right of the Jewish people to settle in the whole of the Mandated territory, as per Article 6 which encouraged "close settlement by Jews on the land, including State lands and waste lands not required for public use." (This article was confirmed by Winston Churchill who wrote that "a Jewish state will arise in our day on the banks of the Jordan"—note the use of the plural.)

These legal obligations were later violated by the British, who, adding one injury to another, also transferred the greater portion of the Golan Heights, intended as part of the future Jewish state, to the French Mandate of Syria in a private arrangement known as the Franco-British Boundary Agreement—an act in direct contravention of Article 5 of the League of Nations Mandate which stated that "The Mandatory shall be responsible for seeing that no Palestine territory shall be ceded or leased to, or in any way placed under the control of, the Government of any foreign Power."

Since all the Powers involved in carrying out the Mandate were "foreign" and a sectoral agreement was in place specifying regional control of designated areas, the Golan transfer remains contestable since it entailed the cession of territory from one Power to another. Thus the Golan was never legally a part of the French Mandate nor, following a second "transfer," could it be considered under the force of international law as part of the Syrian nation. In any event, what we now call "Palestine" is nothing less than an attempted political and demographic usurpation of Jewish mandated as well as ancestral territory which, in the formula applied at the time of the Mandate, was to be settled by Jews "as of right and not on sufferance."

Considered from the standpoint not only of the long historical record but of the original League of Nations framework, which was flagrantly contravened but never legally vacated, it seems, then, just as reasonable, if not more so, to speak of Occupied Israel as of Occupied Palestine. For the obligations imposed by the League of Nations Mandate were validated by Article 80 of the United Nations' founding Charter, Paragraph 1 of which unequivocally states that "nothing in this Chapter shall be construed in or of itself to alter in any manner…the terms of existing international instruments to which Members of the United Nations may respectively be parties."

Since the British government returned the Mandate to the UN in 1947, the unassailable conclusion is that much of the territory now earmarked for Palestinian governance, which has never ceased to be the cadastral address for Jewish consciousness, was historically as well as legally an integral part of Israel. Additionally, Article 70 (1 b) of the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties convened by the United Nations, signed on May 23, 1969 and extended on March 21, 1986, states that the termination of a treaty "does not affect any right, obligation or legal situation of the parties created through the execution of the treaty prior to its termination." Which is to say that all previous relevant and lawful treaties, regardless of circumstances, remain in force as international instruments. The Vienna Convention, known informally as the Treaty on Treaties, further consolidates Israel's legal right, already determined as irrefrangible, to the territory which was stripped from it.

It is often asserted by Israel's detractors that the country is in violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention, in particular Article 49 which stipulates that: "The Occupying power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies." But as Ted Belman points out in American Thinker (August 30, 2007), citing legal expert Talia Einhorn, "this territory was not 'occupied' in the sense of the Geneva convention, since those rules are designed to assure the reversion of the former legitimate sovereign which, in this case, does not exist."

And again: since these territories "had not been taken from a legitimate sovereign, the Fourth Geneva Convention and The Hague Regulations 1889/1907 were inapplicable there." Former US Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs, Eugene W. Rostow, who was also one of the framers of UN Resolution 242, is very clear about this: "the Convention applies only to acts by one signatory 'carried out on the territory of another.'

The West Bank is not the territory of a signatory power, but an unallocated part of the British Mandate…The controversy about Jewish settlements in the West Bank is not, therefore, about legal rights but about the political will to override legal rights" (The New Republic, April 23, 1990). In ceding the whole of Gaza and 94% of the West Bank to their Arab claimants, it may be persuasively argued that successive Israeli administrations have overridden the legal rights of the Jewish settlers in these areas.

Michael I. Krauss and J. Peter Pham, in an article for Commentary (July-August 2006), have also shown that, from the standpoint of international law, the West Bank cannot be described as "occupied." "The British withdrawal from the territory of the Mandate," they write, "resulted in a lapse or vacancy of internationally recognized sovereignty. The West Bank was, in legal jargon, res nullius: a thing belonging to no state." In other words, neither Jordan (which acquired the West Bank through armed aggression) nor Turkey as the residue of the dismantled Ottoman empire, could later lay legitimate claim to the area. "In such a case," the authors continue, "sovereignty in international law may be acquired by any state in a position to assert effective and stable control without resort to unlawful means…" Since self-defence is a legal entitlement in the jus gentium (rule of law common to all nations), Israel's defensive wars of 1967 and 1973 fulfilled precisely these internationally recognized conditions. Therefore, the notion "that Israel's presence in the territory constitutes an 'occupation' is utterly specious."

Equally spurious is the common belief that the current status of the Territories is the casus belli which must be defused at Israel's expense. Since Israel had no presence whatsoever in Gaza and the West Bank prior to 1967, what then could possibly have motivated Egypt to close the straits of Tiran to Israeli shipping—which constituted an Act of War—and to mobilize its army, along with those of Syria and Jordan, on Israel's borders? Egyptian Radio's "Voice of the Arabs," broadcasting on the eve of the war, provides a pretty straightforward answer: the "extermination of Zionist existence."

Historian Michael B. Oren, author of Six Days of War: June 1967 and the Making of the Modern Middle East, who has studied the original Arabic documents, unearthed the details of a certain "Operation Tariq," which reveal that the three belligerent countries had planned "the expulsion or murder of much of [Israel's] Jewish inhabitants in 1967."

Ruth Wisse puts the case succinctly in her Jews and Power, an essential book on the so-called "Jewish Question": "Since the disputed territories were Israel's as a result of Arab aggression, they could not retroactively have become a cause." In repulsing the Arab invaders and conquering Gaza and the West Bank in the process, Israel asserted a claim universally justified by the laws of war.

Consequently, from whatever angle we want to examine the issue, whether historically, juridically or militarily, the argument against Israel does not hold water. The legitimacy of the Israeli right to settle in the Territories or to regard them as an Israeli allodium does not derive, as many have contended, often derisively, from a divine injunction or the world's bad conscience.

"We have really such an overwhelming case," wrote Arthur Koestler in an aide mémoire to Victor Gollancz, "that it is idiotic to base our claims on Bergen Belsen or Abraham's interview with God." Further, when in 1994 Israel and Jordan signed a peace agreement, Jordanian control of the West Bank was relinquished to Israel and not to the Palestinian Authority; again, from the legal perspective, there is no—and never was—an Israeli "occupation," as understood by the political echelon, the press and a profoundly misinformed public. This line of reasoning may be regarded by Israel's critics as merely academic or inapplicable in the context of realpolitik; but if we believe in the validity of international law—which, be it said, is often mobilized against Israeli interests—then we have no logical or ethical alternative but to endorse it fully. Otherwise we are in bad faith.

The common tendency is to regard such issues and provisions as mere legalisms that do not impact "facts on the ground"; yet when adduced against the Israeli brief, they are suddenly transformed into legalities. One can't have it both ways. This is the essential point. If the concept of international law is to have any meaning at all, if its dispensations are understood to be valid and to apply in all circumstances, and if we intend to be consistent as moral agents and political actors, then we have no option but to accept the conclusion that Israel is not an "occupying power," that the territories in question are its legitimate possession, and that it has every right to dispose of these lands as it sees fit. If we reject this conclusion, not to put too fine a point on it, we are merely cynics wedded to the politics of expediency or temporizers divorced from the dictates of conscience. Cosi fan tutte, perhaps; nevertheless, it remains a scandal.

What we might call "the argument for Israel" is not a question of hairsplitting exegetics which can be readily disregarded in a real-world context—and in actuality, the nuances are by no means that subtle to begin with. The last institutional entity to exercise legal sovereignty over the area in dispute was the League of Nations, which upheld the terms and conditions of the Balfour Declaration. However we may like to fudge the issue, the constitutional authority of the League of Nations remains intact to this day. In the historical overview and under the auspices of international law, "Palestine," all of it, is the Israelitic homeland; by the terms of the Balfour Declaration, the League of Nations Mandate, and the various treaties which ensued and which are still juridically in effect via the United Nations' own Charter, it follows inescapably that the West Bank, the Golan Heights and, for that matter, Jordan itself, are Israel. It is plainly too late to file a writ of complete replevin, but to insist that we are only dealing with finespun distinctions or a blizzard of clauses and protocols that have no bearing on practical matters is only a way of throwing a sop to the devil in the details, holding the rule of law in contempt, playing selectively with facts and principles to foster an agenda and thereby exempting ourselves from the labour of interrogating our biases.

Perhaps the most conspicuous instance of this abortion of truth was furnished by the International Court of Justice in The Hague which found against the Israeli security fence and West Bank settlements without examining the full dossier of relevant documents, many of which were suppressed and others misread. But to reiterate, international law is international law; it cannot be applied unevenly or preferentially without damaging or abrogating the very concept itself.

It must be bluntly said that the anti-Israeli consensus concerning the Territories is tantamount to the annulment of the principle of law, to revoking what is commonly understood to be imprescriptible. But Israel is not the only victim of such chicanery; the convention of international law is equally damaged, if not vitiated. Counter-intuitive as this may sound, it is indisputably the case. The most mordant irony of all is that the very institutions, such as the ICJ and the United Nations itself, which are predicated on the existence and sanctity of international law and which are sworn to preserve it against all depredations, have become its prime despoilers and are no better—and possibly worse, given the authority they command—than the world's rogue regimes which routinely flout its provisions.

It is only fair to say that there are occasional rays of light that penetrate a desolate cloud cover. Every now and then one comes across an enlightened Muslim cleric who declares his support for the Jewish right to the West Bank. Sheikh Abdul Hadi Palazzi, Director of the Cultural Institute of the Italian Islamic Community, affirmed that "the territories of Judea and Samaria are the home Allah granted to the Jewish people" and that Jews are "morally obligated to struggle for the integrity of the Land of Israel." Palazzi's argument is obviously not a jurisprudential one. For him, the Land was God's gift to Isaac; the descendants of Ishmael "received plenty of territory in other locations." Be that as it may, such sympathetic voices are extremely rare and, regrettably, will not significantly influence, in Palazzi's words, "the nations of the world…once again preparing bad days for the Jewish people" (IsraelNationalNews.com, December 21, 2007).

The momentum of public opinion, abetted by an unending media campaign and the relentless ideological blitzkrieg of the intellectual and political classes against Israel, has now become almost irreversible. Many Israelis, chiefly of the Left, the "Peace" movements and the emasculated political establishment, have also fallen for this presumed concession to reality and sanctioned a complete reversal of historical provenance and de jure merit. Such Jews have, sadly, forfeited the traditional practice of midrash, or the habit of close reading that fills in textual gaps, which would have served them in good stead today, just as their counterparts in the democratic West are in default of their own liberal heritage founded on the rule of law, statutory precedent and the binding nature of contractual indenture. For a pervasive falsehood has been accepted as an ineluctable fact so that even the mere possibility of principled reconsideration seems like a will o' the wisp. People know the truth. Israel is guilty, the land belongs to the Arabs, and the world is flat.

Biblical Proof of Jeremiah Unearthed at Ancient City of David

(IsraelNN.com) Archaeologists have unearthed proof of another Biblical story at Jerusalem's ancient City of David, this time corroborating the Book of Jeremiah.

A completely intact seal impression, or "bula", bearing the name Gedaliahu ben Pashur was uncovered. The bula is actually a stamped engraving made of mortar.

Gedaliahu ben Pashur's bula was found a bare few meters away from the site where a second such seal, this one belonging to Yuchal ben Shlemiyahu, an elder in the court of King Tzidkiyahu, was found three years ago, at the entrance to the City of David.

According to Professor Eilat Mazar of Jerusalem's Hebrew University, who led the dig, the ancient Hebrew letters "are very clearly preserved." The seal impression was found in clay, she said.

In the Book of Jeremiah (38:1-4), both men were ministers to King Tzidkiyahu, who reigned from 597-586 BCE. The two, along with another pair demanded the death penalty for the prophet Jeremiah in response to his plea for the king to surrender the city to the oncoming hordes of the Babylonian conqueror Nebuchadnezzer.

Shephatiah son of Mattan, Gedaliah son of Pashur, Yuchal son of Shelemiah and Pashur son of Malchiah heard the things that Jeremiah was speaking to the people saying:

"Thus said Hashem: Whoever remains in this city will die by the sword, by the famine or by the pestilence, whereas whoever goes out [in surrender] to the Chaldeans will live; he will have his life as a booty, and he will live.

"Thus said Hashem: This city will surely be delivered into the hand of the army of the king of Babylonia, and he will capture it."

And the[se] officers said to the king, "Let this man be put to death now, because he is weakening the hands of the soldiers who remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, by speaking to them such things. For this man does not seek the welfare of this people, but rather [their] detriment."

"How absolutely fantastic and special this find is, can only be realized when you hold in your hand this magnificent one-centimeter piece of clay and know that it survived 2600 years in the debris of the destruction, and came to us complete and in perfect condition," said Mazar.

The team of archaeologists led by Mazar focused its efforts on the layer of artifacts from the First Temple period located just outside the walls of the Old City, near the Dung Gate.

The seal impression that was found three years ago was uncovered inside a stone structure that Mazar said she believed was the Palace of David. Gedaliahu's seal impression was unearthed at the foot of the external wall of the same structure, under a tower that appeared to have been built in the days of Nechemia in the fifth century BCE.

Mazar has been excavating the site since 2005. She is a senior fellow at the Shalem Center, a Jerusalem-based research and educational institute, and heads its Institute of Archaeology. The Ir David (City of David) Foundation was the principal sponsor of the excavation, together with the Israel Antiquities Authority, the Hebrew University, and the Shalem Center.

(IsraelNN.com) The Cabinet voted Sunday to free five Palestinian Authority Arabs convicted of throwing rocks at Israeli drivers to conclude last month's swap with Hizbullah for the bodies of kidnapped IDF reservists Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev.

All five were due for release in the near future.

Under the terms of the deal, the Israeli government was left to determine the number of PA prisoners to be freed, one month following the initial exchange in which convicted murderer Samir Kuntar and four Hizbullah terrorists were returned to Lebanon.

In return, Israel was also to receive information about the fate of missing Israeli Air force navigator Ron Arad, whose aircraft was shot down over Lebanon in 1986.

Hizbullah informed Israel in a report that it believed Arad to be dead but provided no documentation on the circumstances of his death or the location of his grave.

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert termed the 80-page Hizbullah report "inadequate" but convinced the Cabinet to vote in favor of the deal to free Kuntar in exchange for Goldwasser and Regev, whose fate was unknown until the last moment, when their coffins arrived at Rosh HaNikra.

Israeli Mossad intelligence chief Meir Dagan was more blunt, scorning the report as an outright "fraud."

Hamas Learning from Hizbullah
Although Hamas terrorists have insisted that kidnapped IDF Staff-Sgt. Gilad Shalit, abducted by the group's operatives three weeks prior to Goldwasser and Regev, is still alive, he remains in enemy hands, and they have been silent as to his condition and whereabouts.

Repeated attempts by various negotiators at brokering a prisoner exchange deal for his release, including ongoing talks with Egyptian mediators, have ended in failure.

Saudi Arabian media reported Saturday that Hamas was once again freezing negotiations for Shalit's release, this time using the excuse that the political situation in Israel was too unstable to sustain any agreement that might be reached.

Sources in the Prime Minister's Office declined to comment, reiterating a recent decision to implement a blackout on all issues relating to negotiations for Shalit.

With all the reporters covering the major presidential candidates, it amazes me no one ever seems to ask the right questions.

For several days now, WND has been hounding Barack Obama's campaign about a statement he made July 2 in Colorado Springs – a statement that blew my mind, one that has had me scratching my head ever since.

In talking about his plans to double the size of the Peace Corps and nearly quadruple the size of AmeriCorps and the size of the nation's military services, he made this rather shocking (and chilling) pledge: "We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."

Now, since I've never heard anyone inside or out of government use the phrase "civilian national security force" before, I was more than a little curious about what he has in mind.
Is it possible I am the only journalist in America who sought clarification on this campaign promise?

What does it mean?

If we're going to create some kind of national police force as big, powerful and well-funded as our combined U.S. military forces, isn't this rather a big deal?

I thought Democrats generally believed the U.S. spent too much on the military. How is it possible their candidate is seeking to create some kind of massive but secret national police force that will be even bigger than the Army, Navy, Marines and Air Force put together?

Now, maybe he was misquoted by the Congressional Quarterly and the Chicago Tribune. I guess it's possible. If so, you would think he would want to set the record straight. Maybe he misspoke. That has certainly happened before. Again, why wouldn't the rest of my colleagues show some curiosity about such a major and, frankly, bone-chilling proposition?

Are we talking about creating a police state here?

The U.S. Army alone has nearly 500,000 troops. That doesn't count reserves or National Guard. In 2007, the U.S. Defense budget was $439 billion.

Is Obama serious about creating some kind of domestic security force bigger and more expensive than that?

If not, why did he say it? What did he mean?

So far, despite our attempts to find out, the Obama campaign is not talking.

At this point all I can do is enlist your help – and the help of every other journalist who still thinks the American people have a right to know the specifics about a presidential candidate's biggest and boldest initiatives before the election. I also want to ask radio talk-show hosts across America to start asking this same question. I have a feeling if others join our quest, we might yet get clarification on this proposal from Obama.

Who will Obama appoint to administer this new "civilian national security force"? Where will the money come from? Where in the Constitution does he see justification for the federal government creating such a domestic army?

The questions are endless.

But before we can hope to get to the specifics, we need much more in the way of generalizations from Obama.

Certainly there have been initiatives like this elsewhere – Cuba, the Soviet Union, China, Venezuela, North Korea. But has anything like this ever been proposed in a free country?

I have a feeling there would be more questions from the press if I myself had proposed the creation of something as preposterous as a "civilian national security force" than there has been about this proposal by the presidential candidate currently leading in most of the polls. I'm quite sure I would be hung out to dry as some kind of Nazi thug. Meanwhile, Obama makes this wild suggestion and it is met with a collective yawn from the watchdogs.

Help me out here. What am I missing?

OLMERT TO TAKE REVENGE ON ISRAEL

WITH SIX WEEKS TO GO UNTIL OLMERT SAYS HE'LL RESIGN (Don't believe it till you see it), and with the Knesset in recess, Olmert is in a great position to "make his (notorious) mark" on Israeli history. Ehud Olmert is a criminal waiting for the indictments to come. He knows it. We know it. As he goes down, one can faintly hear the voice of James Cagney (known for his movie portrayals of tough gangster types) saying "Yada-Yada, Warden" as he faces down a hail of bullets in an attempted prison break.

Olmert can sign away Israel's security and sovereignty on the Golan, in Judea, Samaria, Gaza and Jerusalem. One question is: Will he say "Yada-Yada Israel" as signs away pieces of Israel to the applause of various anti-Semitic foreign governments? They will probably give him a Nobel Prize for damaging Israel.

The real question is: Can Ehud Barak, Tzippi Livni, the Labor party, Shas, and other Kadima members be sued for malfeasance and acting as accessories to the crime? They are the ones who let Olmert remain in power this long - despite the botched Lebanon War, despite the disastrous security situation, despite knowing Olmert really was a criminal.

Olmert, besides being a twisty lawyer is a petty tyrant. In his televised speech of his 'inconclusive' resignation, he blames all others for harassing him. Of course, nothing is his fault and, being caught

in criminal deals is a minor thing for which he takes no personal responsibility

Clearly, Olmert is vindictive and will do everything possible to get even - with a vengeance. Those around him share the same psychological aberrance - which is why the Kadima Party is such an assembly of corrupt incompetents and misfits.

Accompanying his so-called pledge of resignation with a time line of September for public consumption is a plan for Olmert's power to continue well past September.

The man-child Chaim Ramon has been speaking about Kadima holding power into February and March. Unless the weak Knesset collapses the Government, the elections after the Kadima Party primaries will stretch on into infinity. During that time the dying snake will lash out trying to finish what it planned to do with sub-dividing Israel as outlined by the Bush-Rice regime.

I am sure Ben-Eliezer is quite shaken by his grand-daughter's injuries. I just wonder: do you think he was as shaken by the injuries of young victims of Kassams in Sderot, or other teenage victims of Arab terror in Yesha??????

(IsraelNN.com) Infrastructures Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer visited his 17 year old granddaughter who was attacked by an elephant after she broke into the Ramat Gan Safari Park.

The girl, who had entered the park with her 20 year old boyfriend, suffered medium to serious injuries.

The Safari's spokeswoman said that the incident was the result of "trespassing and criminal behavior" and that "even the trainers do not dare enter the elephants' night homes." She said that the girl had apparently scared the elephant, who was not used to seeing anyone near his night residence.

Sorry, I beg to differ. There is a world of difference between late abortion, and let's say, abortion at about 6 weeks, before we have a SENTIENT being. This is a point I was also about to make. If there is a national delicacy of Mexico, it is cabrito, which is the diminutive form of "goat." In general, it is milk fed kid, the equivalent of milk fed veal. The real supreme delicacy, however, is embryonic goat. The same people who hold firmly that abortion, even partial birth abortion, is a woman's Constitutionally protected civil right are grossed out by the idea of cabrito. Human fetuses matter less to them than goat fetuses. Still, I am shocked.

It takes three generations for an idea to take hold fully. Not until the third generation do we see the full extent of the ramifications and corolaries and implications of an ideology. This extension had never occurred to me. So even though I knew all that I knew, this ramification still surprises me.

Incredible Discoveries Made in Remote Caves

Scientists exploring caves in the bone-dry and mostly barren Atacama Desert in Chile stumbled upon a totally unexpected discovery this week: water.

They also found hundreds of thousands of animal bones in a cave, possibly evidence of some prehistoric human activity.

The findings are preliminary and have not been analyzed.

The expedition is designed to learn how to spot caves on Mars by studying the thermal signatures of caves and non-cave features in hot, dry places here on Earth. Scientists think Martian caves, some of which may already have been spotted from space, could be good places to look for life.

No hot place on Earth is drier than the Atacama Desert. Many parts of the high-plateau desert have never received rain that anyone can remember. Average rainfall across the region is just 1 millimeter per year. (Parts of Antarctica are considered the driest places on Earth, however.)

So nobody was looking for water.

Total surprise

The research team was exploring Cueva Chulacao, the largest known cave in the Cordillera de la Sal. Naturally curious, they took note of things they saw while conducting their primary research. Other than a single black hair that was likely from an indigenous person, this cave was pristine, virgin territory, explained J. Judson Wynne, a cave expert with the SETI Institute and Northern Arizona University.

"There were no footprints where we were going, and I only saw the slightest evidence of human use," Wynne told LiveScience by email Monday night as the day's work was sinking in.

Wynne and his colleagues moved carefully through the cave to place a sensor along the wall, part of their NASA-funded research.

"Much to my surprise, as we moved about halfway through this passage, my foot completely sunk into the soil," Wynne said. "It was mud! There was a lot of it. It was all contained within the salt stream flow that meandered through this passage."

There is no known source of water nearby.

The finding may prove exciting for scientists searching for water on Mars. Water is considered a prerequisite for life as we know it.

"In arguably the driest desert in the world, we've found water in a cave far away from any known water source," Wynne said. "Essentially, we found water in a barren area below the Earth's surface. Why was water there? What are the mechanisms for the presence of water in these hyper-arid caves? Is this merely a phenomenon related to these caves in particular? Is there some sort of moisture sink that results in the water concentrating in certain caves and not others in the Atacama Desert?"

Bones, bones, bones

Another discovery yesterday left the researchers just shaking their heads.

In a different cave in the same region, they found animal remains. Lots of them.

"We found hundreds of thousands of bones and skulls eroding out of the cave walls," Wynne wrote in his blog. "So, we've renamed this small cave Cuevita de Huesos (or Small Cave of the Bones)."

The researchers had to climb about 13 feet up to find a walkable passage.

"This is where we found all the bones mixed in with tree branches," Wynne wrote.

It's not clear if the animals were dumped into the cave by prehistoric people or if perhaps they were trapped by a flood. After all, the expedition is related to figuring out the thermal signatures of Mars caves, and the finding was made just this week.

"Whatever the mechanism for their deposition, this find was incredibly cool and rather exhilarating," Wynne said. Pete [Polsgrove] and I had a blast marveling over the extent of this deposition as well as discussing what could have possibly led to the deposition of these bones. Once the sensors were deployed in this feature we moved on."

Wynne's colleagues on this expedition: Pete Polsgrove, a Northern Arizona University Ph.D. student in microbiology; Dan Ruby, associate director of Fleischmann Planetarium and Science Center in Reno; geographer and speleologist Knutt Peterson; self-taught astronomer John DeDecker; expedition doctor Lynn Hicks; commercial pilot and wilderness guide Christina Colpitts; and U.S. Geological Survey astrophysicist Tim Titus.

The research is funded by NASA's exobiology program.

Caves on Mars

"Our overall goal is to define mission and instrumentation requirements for detecting caves on Mars using thermal infrared imagery," Wynne explained.

That means figuring out what caves look like in infrared, and what time of day the heat signatures of caves and surrounding features is optimal for cave hunting from, say, a craft orbiting Mars. The air around a cave entrance can be cooler or warmer than what is being radiated off sunlit rocks.

"Martian caves have already been detected through techniques developed by this project, and are significant as a potential habitat for microorganisms and other extremophiles that might exist or have existed on Mars," Ruby said in a statement prior to departure earlier this month. "They may also serve as future habitats for astronaut explorers to the red planet, as they offer protection from radiation and the harsh environment of the surface."

The work will continue in various visits through 2010, and a similar program will be conducted in the Mojave Desert in California.

In my lifetime, we have seen exactly the depths of depravity and bestiality that Western "civilization" is capable of. We know that "civilization" is a thin facade and vary fragile. Still, America, as I experienced it, is rather benign on the whole, not to gainsay the dark chapters of her history, even what has been within my life and memory. Still, corrective action has always come from within. The capacity for growth and improvement is inherent in American society. No, it is not that the people involved in this heinous traffic are Americans. America includes the highest and the lowest of the human species and these Americans are uncivilized Americans. What shocks me is that the general level has fallen to the point that this can operate seemingly openly and without embarrassment.

You and I see eye to eye that the source of American society's corrective capacity is the influence of Tanakh. It's influence has been weakened in the last five or six decades to the point that it is just about banned from public discourse for most of the country. People who orient themselves by it are vilified by the "enlightened" sector, for whom the US Constitution is the highest and holiest. No American is answerable to any higher source and you cannot deny me an abortion, which is my civil right under the US Constitution, because of your benighted adherence to that bigoted, antiquated, medieval book. I suspect that this shocks you because the people involved are "civilized" Americans. The sale of entire, living human beings is still practiced in most of the world, even in "civilized" parts of it. Human bodies are routinely sold on the white and black market every day. Human body parts, especially bones, have been and are still used to "decorate" everything from "holy" building, furniture and people. Babies and toddlers are routinely murdered by the vast majority of the world either for such mundane reasons as population control or war, or for more exalted reasons such as sacrifice to some god or the use of their body parts for magic. That's Goyim for you.
