Jew Charged with Selling Guns to Enemy
(IsraelNN.com) A 50 year old Jew from Shavei Shomron was remanded for two weeks' incarceration and charged Sunday with theft and weapons trading. He is suspected of stealing IDF weapons and ammunition and selling it to two Arabs from the PA for NIS 68,000, in order to cover his debts.
The man, whose name cannot be published because of a court gag order, was accused of selling the Arabs three M-16 guns, a Glilon automatic rifle, 11 magazines full of bullets and one combat vest.
The suspect was a member of Shavei Shomron's volunteer emergency defense squad, and thus had access to the community's military position or mutzav. According to the charge sheet, he sold the gun he had at home to the Arabs and then reported it stolen. He followed this by stealing guns from the military position on two different occasions, and stole another gun from a visitor's car. He received NIS 15,000 – 20,000 for each of the guns.
