Labor MK Yechimovich vs. Party Leader Barak
(IsraelNN.com) Knesset Member Shelly Yechimovich has sharpened her opposition to party leader Defense Minister Ehud Barak's decision to remain in the Olmert coalition despite the final Winograd report, published last week. He promised last year, during his campaign for party leader, that he would pull Labor out of the government after the Winograd Committee would publish its final report criticizing both the government and military for failures in the Second Lebanon War.
MK Yechimovich said that the party chairman's decision will cause long-term damage to the Labor party, which should not be afraid of the popularity of Likud chairman Binyamin (Bibi) Netanyahu. "A political party does not have to make decision based on polls because a party's decision [to leave the government] changes the political situation and causes the public to think differently," she explained.
