We, the undersigned Jewish bloggers, hereby protest – in the strongest terms possible – the parading and glorification of an “alternative lifestyle”, one that is classified in the Holy Torah as an abomination, especially through the streets of the holy city of Jerusalem. The Torah demands that we live by a certain code of sexual morality, and as such, we are forbidden from certain relationships that a moral society cannot tolerate. These include incest, adultery, bestiality, and homosexuality. All these are considered grave sins in Judaism and incur the punishment of Karet, or excision from the Jewish people. An act performed with witnesses during the time of the Sanhedrin would incur an even worse consequence – namely, capital punishment. And this is only on an individual level. When the sin is committed on a societal level, it is much worse. The Torah and our sages record how these acts were catalysts for both the Great Flood during Noah’s lifetime and the destruction of the Five Cities of the Plain. As such, we consider any attempt to glorify acts that the Torah vehemently forbids by parading any such lifestyle through the streets with horror and utter disdain. Such parades in New York and San Francisco would be bad enough, but through the streets of the Holy Land of Israel is a thousand-fold worse. The Torah specifically warns us not to act in sexually abominable ways lest we be vomited out of the land. One can only imagine how it is viewed in Heaven when people brazenly display to G-d how abominable one can be. And if the Land of Israel cannot tolerate such acts of utter gall, all the more so in the holy city of Jerusalem, a city that is overwhelmingly religious. We in no way wish to minimize the struggles in temptation some may have in this area and view with positivity those who have such inclinations and bravely overcome them. But those are not the people irreverently parading through the streets with rainbow flags, who show utter contempt for the Holy Torah and all we hold dear. We therefore vehemently protest the “Pride” Parade in Jerusalem and everywhere else in the world where they may occur. We hope and pray that those who take part in such parades do a complete Teshuva for their actions, and may we see a rebuilt Jerusalem, speedily in our days, Amen. "What will surprise those who may already be surprised about the Dönmeh connection to Turkey, is the Dönmeh connection to the House of Saud in Saudi Arabia. An Iraqi Mukhabarat (General Military Intelligence Directorate) Top Secret report, “The Emergence of Wahhabism and its Historical Roots,” dated September 2002 and released on March 13, 2008, by the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency in translated English form, points to the Dönmeh roots of the founder of the Saudi Wahhabi sect of Islam, Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab. Much of the information is gleaned from the memoirs of a “Mr. Humfer,” (as spelled in the DIA report, “Mr. Hempher” as spelled the historical record) a British spy who used the name “Mohammad,” claimed to be an Azeri who spoke Turkish, Persian, and Arabic and who made contact with Wahhab in the mid-18th century with a view of creating a sect of Islam that would eventually bring about an Arab revolt against the Ottomans and pave the way for the introduction of a Jewish state in Palestine. Humfer’s memoirs are recounted by the Ottoman writer and admiral Ayyub Sabri Pasha in his 1888 work, “The Beginning and Spreading of Wahhabism.” In his book, The Dönmeh Jews, D. Mustafa Turan writes that Wahhab’s grandfather, Tjen Sulayman, was actually Tjen Shulman, a member of the Jewish community of Basra, Iraq. The Iraqi intelligence report also states that in his book, The Dönmeh Jews and the Origin of the Saudi Wahhabis, Rifat Salim Kabar reveals that Shulman eventually settled in the Hejaz, in the village of al-Ayniyah what is now Saudi Arabia, where his grandson founded the Wahhabi sect of Islam. The Iraqi intelligence report states that Shulman had been banished from Damascus, Cairo, and Mecca for his “quackery.” In the village, Shulman sired Abdul Wahhab. Abdel Wahhab’s son, Muhammad, founded modern Wahhabism.
The Iraqi report also makes some astounding claims about the Saud family. It cites Abdul Wahhab Ibrahim al-Shammari’s book, The Wahhabi Movement: The Truth and Roots, which states that King Abdul Aziz Ibn Saud, the first Kingdom of Saudi Arabia monarch, was descended from Mordechai bin Ibrahim bin Moishe, a Jewish merchant also from Basra. In Nejd, Moishe joined the Aniza tribe and changed his name to Markhan bin Ibrahim bin Musa. Eventually, Mordechai married off his son, Jack Dan, who became Al-Qarn, to a woman from the Anzah tribe of the Nejd. From this union, the future Saud family was born. The Iraqi intelligence document reveals that the researcher Mohammad Sakher was the subject of a Saudi contract murder hit for his examination into the Sauds’ Jewish roots. In Said Nasir’s book, The History of the Saud Family, it is maintained that in 1943, the Saudi ambassador to Egypt, Abdullah bin Ibrahim al Muffadal, paid Muhammad al Tamami to forge a family tree showing that the Sauds and Wahhabs were one family that descended directly from the Prophet Mohammed.
At the outset of World War I, a Jewish British officer from India, David Shakespeare, met with Ibn Saud in Riyadh and later led a Saudi army that defeated a tribe opposed to Ibn Saud. In 1915, Ibn Saud met with the British envoy to the Gulf region, Bracey Cocas. Cocas made the following offer to Ibn Saud: “I think this is a guarantee for your endurance as it is in the interest of Britain that the Jews have a homeland and existence, and Britain’s interests are, by all means, in your interest.” Ibn Saud, the descendant of Dönmeh from Basra, responded: “Yes, if my acknowledgement means so much to you, I acknowledge thousand times granting a homeland to the Jews in Palestine or other than Palestine.” Two years later, British Foreign Secretary Lord Balfour, in a letter to Baron Walter Rothschild, a leader of the British Zionists, stated: “His Majesty’s government view with favor the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people . . .” The deal had the tacit backing of two of the major players in the region, both descendant from Dönmeh Jews who supported the Zionist cause, Kemal Ataturk and Ibn Saud. The present situation in the Middle East should be seen in this light but the history of the region has been purged by certain religious and political interests for obvious reasons. The gravity of Sodom's evil, both in the areas of social injustice and immorality, led to its destruction.
Sodom was a paradise on earth – green and fertile with a healthy climate. Its opulence and comfort are what attracted Lot to live there rather than remaining with his holy uncle Abraham in Hebron. There was plenty of money in Sodom, and the more money they had the more corrupt and miserly they became. The area influenced the populace so much that Hashem could not even find one worthy person in all of the city or the four other surrounding towns that were destroyed with it.
Don't think that Hashem acted on a whim when He rained the hellfire and brimstone that turned Sodom, Gomorrah and the Dead Sea vicinity into utter desolation. The Midrash tells us that Sodom had fifty two golden years of abundance. But, during the last 25 years of its existence, Sodom suffered a series of earthquakes, storms and other natural disasters. Hashem sent them wake-up call after wake-up call, each one louder than the previous one. Yet, no one took Hashem's signs to heart. In Sodom and Gomorrah, it was business as usual until the bitter end (see Yalkut Shimoni, Job, Ch. 9, 904).
Let's look at the dramatic contrast between Nineveh and Sodom.

Nineveh was very similar to Sodom. It was the main metropolis of the ancient Assyrian empire, located where the city of Mosul, Iraq is today. In the Fertile Crescent located between the Tigris River where Nineveh was situated and the Euphrates River, Nineveh too was a thriving city. But, like Sodom, their money and comforts went to their heads and they too became socially and morally corrupt. Hashem, in His love for all His creations – even the evil – gives them a chance to change their ways. Instead of sending natural disasters to Nineveh, Hashem sent them the Prophet Jonah to warn them that their destruction is imminent and that they now face the same verdict that Sodom and Gomorrah faced. Jonah said a mere five words – b'od chamisha yamim Nineveh nehefechet – in five days, Nineveh will be destroyed (see Jonah, Chapter 3). The people of Nineveh took Jonah seriously, unlike their predecessors from Sodom who ignored twenty-five years of messages from Hashem.
The King of Nineveh immediately took action. He took off his regal gold-embroidered cloak, got off his throne, donned sackcloth and sat on the floor in complete penitence. The entire populace followed suit. Not only did the people fast, but even the livestock refrained from eating. Nineveh's spiritual revolution for the good made such an impression in the Heavenly Court that all stern decrees were rendered null and void.
We see something amazing here: 25 years of natural disasters had no effect on Sodom and Gomorrah, yet five words from Jonah the Prophet caused a total upheaval in Nineveh, from the king to the lowliest slave in the kingdom. What's the difference between the two?
Rabbi David Kimchi, aka the "Radak" (1160–1235), one of our great medieval rabbis and biblical commentators, explains that the sailors aboard ship with Jonah, who witnessed all the miracles that happened at sea with Jonah aboard, came from Nineveh. When Jonah came to their city, they immediately ran to the King of Nineveh and told him that Jonah, the man of G-d, is the real deal. They must heed his warning (see Radak, Jonah 3:5). The king took the sailors' words to heart and Nineveh was saved.
In every generation, Hashem sends a righteous and pious individual whose blessings and prayers invoke miracles. Yet, it's not the miracles that earn this person the title of "tzaddik of the generation" or even his impeccable righteousness. It is his instruction and moral guidance for the entire generation, Jew and non-Jew alike. The Midrash in fact tells us that Jonah prophesized among Jews and non-Jews, both in Jerusalem and in Nineveh (Pirkei D'Rav Eliezer, Ch. 10). As such, when this tzaddik tells the generation to do something, they'd be wise to listen, for it could make the difference between Nineveh and Sodom.
Did the New Israel Fund website make a mistake in its caption?
Did Dorit Beinisch see the check at all? Was she only the conduit for the check?
Did she accept the check for herself and the NIF?
( I am playing the devil's advocate here, since some people blindly assume that the $20 million went straight into her pockets. So let's assume a best case scenario).
Either way, she was somehow involved in that momentous grant from the Ford Foundation to the NIF, or her picture would not have appeared in this context, with all the specific people mentioned here. One way or another, she KNOWS that the Ford Foundation is funding the NIF and all its subsidiaries, and every time a court case involving one of those said NGO's is taking place, she knows exactly who is buttering that bread, she knows who is watching, she knows who her friends are, and where the money is coming from. She knows that in a court case involving one of those NGO's, one of the litigants is none other than the Ford Foundation; with other words, the CFR, the most important behind-the- scenes political force of the U.S.A., since the Ford Foundation, by definition, is one of the main pillars of the CFR, the Council on Foreign Relations, where the initials sometimes stand for Carnegie- Ford- Rockefeller. 2. Ford Foundation Gives Additional $20 Million to Support Partnership with New Israel Fund
NEW YORK / JERUSALEM, 6 September 2007—The Ford Foundation today announced a $20 million grant to extend its partnership with the New Israel Fund to support civil society, human rights and social justice organizations in Israel. The partnership was launched in 2003 with an initial Ford grant of $20 million. "We are proud to renew our partnership with the New Israel Fund to support people working on social justice issues," said Susan V. Berresford, president of the Ford Foundation. "This grant is in keeping with the foundation's worldwide program to promote democratic values and will help secure peace and equality for all citizens."
Court Ombudsman: Beinisch-NIF-Ford Foundation Meeting Just Fine
Judicial system's ombudsman says there was no ethical problem with Supreme Court President hosting NIF heads.

Supreme Court President Dorit Beinisch did not receive a contribution from the Ford Foundation on behalf of the New Israel Fund, Court System Ombudsman Judge (ret.) Eliezer Goldberg determined last week. News site News1 reported that Goldberg based his "findings" on Beinisch's version and nothing else.
The Ombudsman received three complaints in late November, based upon a photograph that appeared in the NIF website. According to the complainants, the text under the photograph said that Beinsich had received $20 million on behalf of the NIF from the Ford Foundation. The photograph was taken on September 17, 2007, on the 15th anniversary of Shatil, the NIF's operational arm.
The picture shows a beaming Beinisch with Susan Berresford, then-President of the Ford Foundation. Behind them, according to MyRightWord's Yisrael Meidad, are Israel Executive Director of the New Israel Fund, Eliezer Yaari; NIF Board VP in Israel Neta Ziv; Ford Foundation Deputy Vice President, Program Management David Chiel; Ford Israel Fund Director Aaron Back; and NIF CEO Larry Garber.
The complainants noted that the NIF website has blocked access to the photograph.
Goldberg called the complaints "baseless" and said there was "no connection between them and the true facts."
Beinisch told him that she regularly meets representatives of different organizations, from all parts of the political spectrum. She said that the NIF asked to coordinate a visit in the Supreme Court for the Ford Foundation's president and that "I met them briefly in the oval room in my bureau… The complaints that I received a $20 million donation on behalf of the New Israel Fund are a false, malicious and baseless libel…"
News1 reports that Goldberg accepted Beinisch's version of events unquestioningly and determined that the picture documented "a short courtesy meeting" and nothing more.
NIF-supported organizations such as the Association for Civil Rights in Israel, Adala, the Women's Lobby and Itach (which is headed by Neta Ziv, among others) regularly petition the High Court and appear before Beinisch as litigants.

Knesset Subcommittee will Investigate New Israel Fund

(Israelnationalnews.com) The Knesset's Constitution, Law and Justice Committee voted Wednesday to appoint a special subcommittee to inquire into the matter of contributions to Israeli NGOs from foreign governments and organizations. The decision comes after research by the Im Tirtzu movement, which found that the New Israel Fund finances most of the Israeli NGOs which testified against Israel in the Goldstone Committee.
The nationalist members in the committee voted in favor of Committee Chairman David Rotem's motion for establishing the subcommittee. MKs Danny Danon, Tzipi Hotobeli and Carmel Shama of Likud were joined by Michael Ben Ari (National Union) and Uri Makleb (United Torah Judaism). Shlomo Mula and Yisrael Hasson of Kadima voted against the motion, as did Dov Chenin (Hadash) and Taleb A-Sana (Raam-Taal).
MK Danny Danon said that "the committee will have to act swiftly in order to remove the strategic threat that the New Israel Fund poses to Israel."
MK Zevulun Orlev, who is usually moderate in his choice of words, reacted angrily to claims by left-wing MKs that the committee was an act of persecution, saying: "Where are all the Zionist movements of yore? Where is HaShomer HaTzair? From a movement of settlers, of exalted commanders, you have turned into informers, snitchers."
The New Israel Fund's Israel office is headed by former Meretz MK Naomi Chazan. Im Tirtzu is jubilant The Im Tirtzu movement, which initiated the campaign which led to the inquiry, was jubilant. It said it would now end its advertising and media campaign. "Today is a day of rejoicing for all of the IDF's officers and soldiers who were hounded by the New Israel Fund," the group stated.
"We express our support for the dramatic decision by the Constitution Committee to establish a committee that will investigate the New Israel Fund's organizations," it added. "We proved after a tough David vs. Goliath battle that sometimes David wins, too. In Israel of 2010, it turns out that a small group of students and reservists can successfully remove the mask from a fund with an annual turnover of dozens of millions of dollars, which wound up in the hands that are the living spirit behind the Goldstone report."
Ronen Shoval, Chairman of Im Tirtzu, told Arutz Sheva's Hebrew service that further research has revealed that Judge Richard Goldstone was patently unsuited to head the UN investigation against Israel in the first place, because he himself is a member of virulently anti-Israeli organizations.
"To our great surprise," Shoval said, "we found that three organizations that Goldstone is a member of are patently anti-Israeli ones." All roads lead to Ford Foundation One such organization is the International Center for Transitional Justice, which accuses Israel in its website of grave violations of international law, including 'extrajudicial executions, prolonged administrative detention, torture, forced displacement (often repeated), extensive property confiscation and destruction, movement restrictions, and collective punishment, much of this within the framework of a four-decade-long occupation.'"
Goldstone has been a member of the ICTJ's Board of Directors since 2004. Shoval added that Goldstone is a signatory on a document issued by ICTJ six months before he was appointed to head the famous UN committee of inquiry, in which the ICTJ expresses "shock at the crimes against civilians" in Operation Cast Lead. The group received $7.5 million from the Ford Foundation in 2006-7.
In addition, Shoval charged, Goldstone is a member of the Board of Directors of Physicians for Human Rights, which accused Israel of war crimes before the Goldstone Report was issued. It, too, is funded by the Ford Foundation.
As exposed by Professor Gerald Steinberg of NGO Monitor, Goldstone was also a member of the Board of Directors of a third group, Human Rights Watch as late as July 2008. The organization accused Israel of war crimes well before the Goldstone Commission was appointed. HRW also receives hundreds of thousands of dollars annually from the Ford Foundation.
Shoval explained that the research shows that Goldstone has been working for organizations funded by the Ford Foundation, as is the New Israel Fund, but this did not prevent him from extensively quoting, in his report, organizations funded by the same Ford Foundation.

Mainstream Media News Blackout on New Israel Fund Inquiry

(Israelnationalnews.com) It was a short, sweet victory: a small grassroots movement of students and IDF reservists, Im Tirtzu, launched a savvy and aggressive campaign against the New Israel Fund, for its support of NGOs that besmirched Israel and were quoted in the Goldstone report. Aided by information from Prof. Gerald Steinberg's NGO Monitor, Im Tirtzu exposed the fact that the NIF receives much of its money from the Ford Foundation – which also aids vehemently anti-Israeli Arab groups – and disburses millions of dollars annually to Israeli groups that accuse the IDF of war crimes and support anti-Israel campaigns abroad.
The Im Tirtzu campaign began with an extensive report on their findings in Friday's Maariv newspaper, by prominent journalist Ben Caspit. Apparently knowing in advance that the rest of Israel's media outlets would try to suppress the news, Im Tirtzu bought advertisements that rammed its message across for four straight days this week. The campaign, which could not be ignored, caused a frenzy and by day's end Wednesday Im Tirzu declared victory: a Knesset debate was held and a subcommittee of the Constitution, Law and Justice Committee was created to investigate their claims.
However, Israelis who tuned in to the Wednesday evening newscasts on Channels 2 and 10 – the only commercial television channels with news programs – saw and heard nothing about the event. The parliamentary vote on creating the subcommittee was not even mentioned verbally in either channel's newscast. Mabat, the news program of state-run Channel 1, covered the public storm and parliamentary vote with a short item, 22 minutes into the newscast.
While Maariv's Caspit and some pundits on the newspaper's website supported Im Tirtzu, other columnists in Maariv and elsewhere attacked Im Tirtzu and the journalists who supported it, calling it an “extreme right-wing group” and accusing it of using Nazi-type propaganda against the NIF's chairwoman, Naomi Chazan, because its advertisements featured a caricature of her with a horn on her forehead, charging at the Israeli flag. The caricature was based on a play of words on the Hebrew word keren which means both 'horn' and 'fund'.
Im Tirtzu's chairman Ronen Shoval said in an e-mail message to supporters Wednesday that the New Israel Fund had threatened to sue news outlets that carried stories attacking it and that Im Tirtzu had also received threatening messages. 2/7/10 ADDENDUM:

IF Israel is to survive these organizations, they must be shut down and then put the remains under the rock from which they emerged.

The government has an opportunity to clear the way for any future war to end not only in military victory, but in political victory for Israel as well.
A regional war may well be approaching. The actions and statements of Iran and its Syrian, Lebanese and Palestinian proxies over the past week or so indicate that this is what Israel’s enemies are gunning for.
In preparing for this growing threat, Israel’s leaders need to consider more than just the military challenges it faces. They must consider the political actors at home and abroad that limit the IDF’s ability to fight to victory and develop strategies for neutralizing those actors.
The latest developments are menacing. Last Saturday, Iran’s unelected president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad threatened to open up a new round of hostilities on February 11. Then Wednesday, Iran launched a new missile into space. Israeli and US missile experts claim that the missile launch signals that Iran is developing intercontinental ballistic missiles and building the capacity to launch nuclear warheads on ballistic missiles.
Following the missile launch, Syria’s president and foreign minister issued incendiary comments threatening Israel with war. Notably, they did so the same day the US informed Syria of its intention to send an ambassador to Damascus for the first time in five years.
Hamas, for its part, sent barrels of explosives drifting to the Israeli coastline – exposing new ways it can kill us. And Fatah, for its part, decided to kiss Hamas’s ring this week. Senior Fatah official Nabil Shaath’s obsequious visit to Gaza Wednesday was a graphic demonstration of Hamas’s preeminence in Palestinian society.
Then there is Hezb’allah. In a speech on January 15, Hezb’allah leader Hassan Nasrallah pledged that the next war will "change the face of the region."
This may not be an exaggeration. It isn’t simply that under the blind eye of UN peacekeepers Hezb’allah has replenished and expanded its arsenal to include long-range missiles. It isn’t simply that in the three and half years since the war Hezb’allah has taken control over the Lebanese government. Hezb’allah has also built up a formidable ground force. In the event of war, these forces may be deployed as an expeditionary force inside northern Israel.
And if the precedent of former MK Azmi Bishara – who fled Israel after learning that he was about to be indicted for serving as a Hezb’allah agent in the 2006 war – is any indication of Hezb’allah’s modus operandi, Israel may also face Israeli Arab fifth columnists assisting Hezb’allah forces inside the country.
Assuming for the moment that the IDF and the government are prepared to contend with these mounting military threats, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and his colleagues must take the necessary steps to withstand and minimize the effectiveness of the far left’s expected political warfare against Israel. As the past decade has made clear, the aim of that warfare is to delegitimize Israel’s right to defend itself in order to make it impossible for Israel to pursue the war to military and political victory.
As in the military arena, so in the political arena, Israel’s foes have grown from nuisances into strategic threats over the past decade. The UN-sponsored Goldstone Report, which effectively denies Israel’s right to defend itself and criminalizes its military efforts to secure its citizenry and its territory, is evidence of the gravity of the threat Israel faces as our leaders plan for the coming war.
On this latter plane, the past week has been an eventful and hopeful one. The latest developments offer guidance for how the government must proceed as the winds of war blow ever stronger. Late last week, the Zionist student movement Im Tirzu published a detailed report demonstrating that 16 anti-Zionist NGOs funded by the post-Zionist New Israel Fund worked hand in glove with the UN Human Rights Council and Richard Goldstone to bring about the establishment of the Goldstone committee and give credibility to its allegations that Israel committed war crimes during Operation Cast Lead. According to the Im Tirtzu report, 92 percent of Israeli allegations that Israel committed war crimes in its campaign against Hamas came from these 16 NIF-funded organizations.
Im Tirtzu’s report was prominently covered by Ma’ariv last weekend. The media coverage provoked calls in the Knesset this week to investigate the NIF and its operational arms in Israel, both through regular committee hearings and perhaps through a parliamentary investigative panel.
These calls are extraordinary because they represent the first time in a decade that the legitimacy of these NGOs has been seriously scrutinized.
Since the Palestinians began their terror war against Israel in September 2000, NIF-sponsored groups have worked steadily to intimidate political leaders, law enforcement officials and military commanders to toe their anti-Zionist line. In the wake of the PLO-incited riots in the Israeli Arab sector in October 2000, the overtly anti-Zionist NIF-funded Adalah group agitated for the formation of the Orr Commission. Charged with investigating the police who quelled the rioting rather than the rioters whose violence forced the prolonged closure of major highways to Jewish traffic throughout the country, the Orr Commission had a devastating impact on the police’s morale and organizational culture.
Adalah successfully cowed the Barak government into agreeing to rules of inquiry for the commission that denied police officers even minimal rights of due process. They were not allowed to confront or question their accusers. In the aftermath of the commission’s public hearings – which amounted to little more than show trials – the careers of several dedicated officers were destroyed. As a consequence, police commanders began curtailing their law enforcement activities in Arab villages. Everything from illegal building to livestock theft to incitement to war against Israel has gone uninvestigated and unpunished.
Furthermore, the Adalah-instigated and orchestrated Orr Commission empowered the most radical voices in Israeli Arab society. Supported by Arab political leaders, Adalah published a manifesto calling for the destruction of Israel as a Jewish state. Bishara’s suspected espionage for Hizbullah, and the legal establishment’s self-evident fear of prosecuting him for treason, are also the direct consequence of the Orr Commission.
As for the IDF, NIF-funded organizations have played a key role in organizing the weekly riots at flashpoints like Ni’ilin and Bi’ilin and in the recent expansion of these riots to other places in Judea and Samaria like Neveh Tzuf. Supported by anti-Israel activists from Europe and the US, these riots have had a devastating impact on the IDF’s morale and its ability to defend Israeli communities.
The NIF-funded pro-Palestinian group B’Tselem provides the rioters with video cameras with which they regularly shoot distorted footage. Their canned films portray Israeli civilians seeking to defend themselves from the rioters as attackers. They portray IDF soldiers trying to keep order and protect Israeli civilians as violent bullies. B’Tselem gives these films to its supporters in the Israel media, which broadcast them as credible footage and demand that the IDF open investigations against its officers for carrying out lawful orders.
On the defensive, the IDF is compelled to curtail its operations and Israeli civilians, now demonized, are viewed as legitimate targets for terror attacks. One recent film of the rioting outside Neveh Tzuf posted on YouTube shows border policemen simply fleeing the scene and leaving the residents of the community to fend for themselves.
Im Tirtzu’s offensive against the NIF sparked outraged protest among the NIF’s supporters on the far left in Israel and in the US. Everyone from Ma’ariv’s in-house anti-Zionist reporters Maya Bengal and Meirav David to J Street have piled on, attacking Im Tirtzu’s financial backers and seeking to demonize the organization by referring to it as extremist, far right, racist, fascist, out-of-the-mainstream and all the other routine far-left terms used to demonize Zionists.
What is most encouraging about the aftershocks of the Im Tirtzu report is that the Left’s attempts to demonize it have so far failed. Indeed, the loudest voices calling for an investigation of NIF and its sponsored organizations have been MKs from Kadima.
The harsh truth is that the main cause of Israel’s poor performance in Cast Lead and the Second Lebanon War was the Olmert government’s ideological dependence on the far left and its central contention that it is Israel’s presence in contested areas rather than our enemies’ commitment to Israel’s destruction that causes wars. Owing to their allegiance to this falsehood, Ehud Olmert and Tzipi Livni were unable to prosecute the wars to victory militarily, justify the limited steps they did take to defend Israel diplomatically, or discredit the rising chorus of Israeli NGOs arguing that Israel had no right to defend itself politically.
Since Cast Lead, however, two important things have happened. First Kadima was replaced by the Likud. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu rightly recognized the Goldstone Report as a strategic attack against Israel. If Israel has no right to defend itself; if its moves to do constitute war crimes, then Israel cannot fight, cannot win and will be destroyed. Rather than give credence to the report, Netanyahu has made discrediting it one his primary aims in office. And to counteract its force, among other things, for the first time since the start of the Oslo peace process with the PLO, Israel’s government is asserting the Jewish people’s right to Judea and Samaria.
Beyond that, Kadima itself has changed its tune. Now in the opposition, Kadima no longer needs to defend its rejected plan to unilaterally withdraw from Judea and Samaria. Mahmoud Abbas’s refusal of Olmert’s offers to withdraw Israelis civilians and military personnel from nearly all of Judea and Samaria and to cede sovereignty in Jerusalem discredited the notion that it is possible to make peace with the Palestinians. Most importantly, the fact that Goldstone castigates Livni and Olmert as war criminals requires Kadima to fight all forces – including the far left it previously supported – that give credibility to Goldstone.
These developments clear the way for the Netanyahu government to take steps to neutralize the potency of these groups. The government should move swiftly to order the police and the IDF to enforce the law against these groups and their allies. It must also provide the political support to police and military commanders in the field to empower them fulfill their orders without fear that they will be persecuted for doing their jobs.
If the government seizes the opportunity to weaken these subversive groups, not only will it be making it clear that the political open season on Israel is over. It will be clearing the way for any future war to end not only in military victory, but in political victory for Israel as well.

Am Yisrael wants the Temple rebuilt!
A survey conducted by the Panels Insitute revealed that 64 % of the Israeli public , and half of secular Israelis, want the Temple rebuilt. 97% of respondents know that the Temple was destroyed on Tisha B'Av ( Ninth of Av).
The survey's second question queried the public’s desire to rebuild the Temple. Sixty-four percent responded favorably and 36 percent said no. Analysis of the answers revealed that not only hareidi-religious and other religious Jews want to rebuild the Temple, (100 percent and 97 percent respectively), but also the traditional public (91 percent) and many secular Jews (47 percent) do as well.
