bill made a very important comment, that we would do well to remember:
The great General Patton was assassinated by OSS (forerunner of the CIA) after the war. He was considered a huge obstacle in improving relations with Stalin. He wanted to destroy the Soviet union, before it became a threat.
Of course, they couldn't just kill him. He was a national hero.
So, they set up a trap with a huge truck waiting at the roadside, while Patton's green Cadillac came down the road in the opposite direction.
At the last minute, the truck swung in front of Patton's car, and forced him to crash. A sniper shot him through the window during the confusion.
All this is documented in a new book, where the author actually interviewed the assassin.
The resilient Patton almost recovered in the hospital, so a Soviet spy undercover operative was sent to inject him with a poison to make sure he died, and--sure enough--he suddenly took a turn for the worse.
Marv commented: HARD TO BELIEVE...... NOT ANYMORE.
