09:49 - LOURDES: THE IV "UNIVERSITÉS DE LOURDES POUR LA PAIX" STARTING TODAY
Everything is ready in Lourdes to host, from today until Sunday May 17th, the IV "Universités de Lourdes pour la Paix", a yearly event that is organised by the Municipality of Lourdes and devised by the current deputy mayor of the Marian town, Michel Azot. The event will open this morning with a reflection on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the real underlying theme – along with the situation in Tibet – of all the "Universities of Peace". The theme will be discussed by the plenipotentiary minister of Israel to France, Shmuel Ravel, and by the delegate of the Palestinian Delegation of France, Hind Khoury. In the second session of the day, the speakers' attention will be focussed on the Balkans. The president of the Republic of Croatia, Stjepan Mesic, along with Serbian, Bosnian and Montenegrin diplomats and the bishops of Belgrade and Banja Luka, Stanislav Hocevar and Franjo Komarica, will tell and relive the milestones of the renaissance of these lands. Tomorrow the discussion will touch on the financial crisis. Experts of economy, international law, politics and the business worl, will try to outline an accurate picture of the global situation, with a special focus on the war regions and the most unstable areas.
