Shas MK Benizri Convicted of Bribery and Other Crimes

(IsraelNN.com) MK Shlomo Benizri (Shas) was convicted of various crimes Tuesday morning by the Jerusalem's District Court.

The case was launched after a series of investigative reports by Yediot Acharonot in which the MK was said to have received several perks, payments and favors in return for services he provided in his capacity as Minister of Labor and Welfare to contractor Moshe Sela. Benizri was found guilty of bribery, fraud and breach of trust after Sela turned state's witness and testified against the senior Shas MK.

Rabbi Reuven Elbaz was also convicted of coordinating the misdeeds in the case.
