Supreme Court to Consider Peres Boycott of Comptroller
15 Adar 5768, 21 February 08 06:53
by (IsraelNN.com) The Movement for Quality Government in Israel has asked the Supreme Court to force President Shimon Peres to allow State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss access to the president's official residence in Jerusalem.
Peres claims his diplomatic immunity as president includes immunity from the state comptroller's office, and said the president's office is currently considering bids for outside, independent auditors to monitor its finances.
Israeli law stipulates that all state institutions fall under the jurisdiction of the state comptroller.
