Yassam Riot Police Officer Indicted on Brutality at Amona

(IsraelNN.com) Former Yassam riot police officer Mordechai Mehager is facing a judge in the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court to answer charges of brutality in the 2006 eviction of protestors prior to demolition of nine structures at the Samarian town of Amona.

Mordechai Mehager was indicted on three counts of grievous assault following an Internal Affairs investigation of his role in the unprovoked violence that bloodied at least 200 people, including two Knesset Members and more than 100 young activists.

Yishai Greenbaum, one of the young activists brutalized during the expulsion, filed charges against Mehager, saying he beat him with a club for two full minutes on his head, arms and leg – leaving him with a permanent disability.

The Yesha Human Rights Organization assisted Greenbaum in filing the suit, with attorney Chaim Cohen writing in the petition that "the accused – officer Mehager – exceeded the authority granted to him by law and police regulations, acting in an independent manner and exercising excessive force without justification."

Accusations by Mehager's lawyers that their client is being used as a political scapegoat by his superiors were countered in Greenbaum's petition. "Alternatively, if it turns out that the accused received 'orders from above,' then we are dealing with unacceptable orders whose implementation should have been refused."

A simultaneous Internal Affairs investigation resulted in a decision to indict Mehager as well.

State prosecutors refused to provide the former riot police officer with immunity and said if he was fined, he would have to pay the damages himself.

Mehager was indicted partly on the strength of video evidence provided by demonstrators who filmed him clubbing young protestors as they sat passively on the floor in one of the nine structures slated for demolition.

Mehager blamed his superiors, testifying "clear instructions were given [to riot police officers] that in any eventuality it would be necessary to use batons." He has filed suit against his former employers, Israel Police, saying he was "a victim of the prosecution and political interests on the one hand, and of the police on the other."

Collision Between Politics and Police Methodology
The overwhelming brutality of that day marked a turning point in the way the government has since approached the issue of dismantling unauthorized outposts.

The hilltop community of Amona, one of the oldest communities in Samaria, was established by 30 families in 1995. It was built on the hill that overlooks the nearby town of Ofra.

The town was hooked up to the national electricity grid – a move which requires approval by the Defense Ministry – by 2003. Today there are approximately 45 families living there.

Nine unfinished structures, intended to become homes in a new neighborhood on the outskirts of Amona, became the flashpoint in the conflict between the government and residents for Jewish rights in Judea and Samaria.

The decision to demolish the new neighborhood was made at the time by then-Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to placate U.S. and Palestinian Authority leaders by demonstrating his willingness to freeze construction and destroy "illegal outposts" in Judea and Samaria.

Passive Resistance Met with Police Brutality
More than 2,000 Yassam riot police and mounted officers had spent a week preparing for a showdown on the appointed day of eviction. Several hundred activists were prepared as well, with many packed tightly into the structures in a passive protest geared to keep things calm.

Others waited outside, gathering cinder blocks and other items with which they hoped to block bulldozers and other efforts to carry out the demolition.

Events quickly spiraled out of control.

A number of other club-swinging police officers and at least one mounted police officer have been indicted for their role in the violence.

Mounted police officer David Edry was charged with trampling at least one protestor beneath the hooves of his horse.

An army driver who happened upon the scene, Ibrahim Sharif decided to join the action, borrowed an officer's club and started swinging, beating activists in the head and elsewhere on their bodies.

The Yesha organization said there are been many more active civil cases against violent police officers who were involved in the brutality than there have been Internal Affairs investigations.

Truly, they are willing to join the ranks of cowards and idiots sacrificing truth on the altar of appeasement. I want to apologize personally to Brigitte for every miserable Jew who complained to her about telling the truth about Obama. You are my sister, Brigitte, and these Jews have forgotten who are they, and what Judaism stands for.

SACRIFICING CLARITY ON THE ALTAR OF APPEASEMENT

Opinions are like...noses. Everyone has one. As someone whose life has been greatly impacted by Israel, I am an outspoken supporter and advocate for Jewish issues and Israeli security. My outspokenness creates a few storms now and then.

With the Internet amplifying publicly voiced opinion, comments can be swirled around through instant e-mail communication seeding the most dark and foreboding storm clouds. Most of the sleet, hail and lightning I get comes from the Jewish community, usually after I have said something extolling their virtues. Most remarkable was my statement at a Duke University counter-Palestinian Solidarity Movement rally in 2004 where I said the difference between Israel and the Arab world "is the difference between civilization and Barbarism." The comment went worldwide.

The president of Hillel apologized to the Arabs and Palestinians up one side and down the other.

I recently was asked my opinion about Barack Obama and boy! – what a tempest it has caused. And this time the maligning from my Hebrew friends comes for pointing out that a presidential candidate has deeply troubling connections to an anti-Semite. So? The adverse precipitation came last week from the United Jewish Communities (UJC), who took strong exception to my answering question posed by a woman about Barrack Obama. The UJC's published comments headlined by some as "slamming" Brigitte Gabriel, cast doubt on my legitimacy and my efforts to support the Jewish nation and fight the rise of Islamofascism. I think you will find, as others have commented to me, that they are doing a disservice to one of Judaism's ally in its fight as a people and Israel as a nation.

Here are the facts.

I was honored to be the guest speaker at the West Palm Beach Lion of Judah's luncheon on February 4th in Florida. My presentation, like many I have given to Jewish Federations in both Canada and the US, as well as countless non-Jewish organizations and churches, focused on the humanitarian qualities of Israel who rescued my family and other Christians from the Jihad against us by Muslim extremists in civil war torn Lebanon.

I warned the audience about the rise of Islamofascism throughout the world and here in America. I encouraged them to get involved, support the Lion of Judah and make a difference. The 350 women present gave me a standing ovation. After lunch and the Q&A they bought up every available copy of my New York Times best seller, "Because They Hate." I felt no hostility or heard any derogatory remarks during the greetings and exchanges of encouragement given me while signing 200 books. That was the good part.

It was during the Q&A that a woman asked my opinion as to whether or not Obama was "anti-Semitic"- her words. Knowing how sensitive political issues are, considering my audience, I prefaced my answer by saying, "I want to make something very clear before I answer this question. I am neither a Republican nor a Democrat. I am an independent who came to this country as a fresh slate and was not raised in a home in America that influenced me to vote either Republican or Democrat. So my answer to you will be as a terrorism expert and not as someone who is trying to influence you about any party." I then repeated what I had said at a similar Federation event in Boca Raton the previous week.

I discussed Obama's long association with the controversial Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. of the Southside Chicago Trinity United Church. Obama has frequently referred to Wright as his 'spiritual adviser.' Wright has peculiar Black Racist, anti-Israel, anti-Semitic views. Wright's Church magazine, The Trumpet, has honored Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan, promoted anti-Israel divestment efforts, and visited Libyan strongman, Mummar Ghaddafi.

My view is supported by the following facts: The Trumpet honored Minister Farrakhan at a banquet for his devotion to "truth." The magazine quoted Obama's "spiritual mentor," Rev. Wright, as praising Farrakhan for his "astounding and eye-opening" analysis of the "racial ills of this nation," a "perspective" that is "helpful and honest."

Minister Farrakhan, who regularly calls Jews "bloodsuckers," said in a March, 2007 Al Jazeera interview "The real anti-Semites are those who came out of Europe and settled in Palestine, and now they call themselves the true Jews, when in fact, they converted to Judaism" On January 15th, Senator Obama publicly distanced himself from the comments of Minister Farrakhan. Obama asserted: "I decry racism and anti-Semitism in any form and strongly condemn the anti-Semitic statements by Minister Farrakhan" Even with Obama disavowing the Farrakhan award by his Church's magazine I take great exception that he did not take the ultimate step of leaving Pastor Wright's church and continuously supports him.

I appreciate what ADL executive director Foxman said in an interview with the Jewish Week: 'This must be just a first step. He's distanced himself from his pastor's decision to honor Farrakhan. He has not distanced himself from his pastor. I think that's the next step. One can now expect from Sen. Obama that he confront his minister.

Ultimately, said Foxman, if Obama is unable to influence Wright to alter his stands, I think he has an obligation to leave." Conveniently, about the same time in January, Rev. Wright announced his 'retirement' from his Trinity Church pulpit in May of this year.

My opinion as to Obama having anti-Semitic views and characteristics is further influenced by the fact that Mr. Obama employed and still employs Nation Of Islam members and Farrakhan followers on his staff; his positions on the Israeli security fence; his comments on Yasser Arafat.

Coming from a highly sensitive viewpoint concerning the future and safety of Israel in a sea of worldwide anti-Israel bias, propaganda and media negativity, I see no difference between anti-Semitic and anti-Israel. I see them both the same. To your western ears, anti-Semitic may seem a harsher term by which it appears I am being judged.

In my opinion actions speak louder than words. It is important to watch what people do instead of what they say because talk is very cheap especially when you are raising funds and running for president! We are who we associate with. If Obama did not agree with his pastor he wouldn't be praising him as his mentor. There are very troubling things in Obama's past, present and his affiliations that he must answer and clarify. However that is just a relative issue compared to the real concern about Obama's wanting to meet with the avowed Holocaust denying enemy of Israel, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to address his "grievances."[Note: Ahmadinejad has explained his main grievance: "Jews still exist." How will Barak Hussein Obama address that problem? -- AEM]

My remarks in both Boca Raton and Palm Beach are my own and while not representing the views or policies of the Federations should not be used to malign my message of anti-Islamofascism and pro-Israel support in the eyes of world Jewry. Shame on those who are using the auspices of the UJC in crying foul for something contrary to their personal politics. It is not lost on me that Rep. Robert Wexler (D-FL), whose district covers part of Palm Beach County, is a national surrogate in the Obama campaign. So perhaps both the Palm Beach Federation and national UJC didn't want to appear supportive of my views because it might offend Rep. Wexler and ultimately Sen. Obama.

The JTA article quoted me as saying: "Obama was an anti-Semite. No Jews should support him. Jews should vote for Hillary Clinton." These sentences, which appear as a direct quote, are simply a sloppy cut and paste job of statements I made about Obama and Clinton at two different events.

Were my criticisms of Sen. Obama off the mark? Am I raising pertinent questions that the Jewish community needs answers to?

Witness these comments from American Jewish Committee (AJC) executive director David Harris presenting the views of South Floridians with whom he had recently spoken concerning Obama: What are his relations with Wright? Why does he have former National Security Adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski (viewed as cool toward Israel) on his foreign policy team? Harris went on to say: "You could sum up the concerns as "does Obama feel Israel in his kishkas?" Harris commented using the Yiddish word for guts.

"And does he have the steel and spine for the tough moments or believe diplomacy is the be-all and end-all of international relations?" Such worries have surfaced in Israel, where Danny Ayalon, a former ambassador to the United States, has described Obama's candidacy as cause for "concern." I am concerned as well. What should have been a positive outcome to my appearance at the West Palm Beach Federation event has been yanked from the hands of the local federation's control and spread as a negative across the world. From 350 attendees to millions. Now even more can continue asking the questions that I and director Harris have raised. Meanwhile the topic has been converted into a slanderous campaign against me by certain factions of the left wing of the Jewish press. In effect, a messenger in support of Israel is being unfairly and gratuitously maligned for my straightforwardness. I have and will always have my antennae up about issues that may adversely affect Israel and homeland security.

Since 2003 I have done much to support Israel: speaking at Duke on the Eve of the Palestinian solidarity convention, speaking at Columbia concerning problems by Arab professors against Jewish students, going on television defending Israel during the war between Hezbollah and Israel, creating and mobilizing a national grass roots organization to stand with and defend Israel, and writing a New York Times best seller, the first one by an Arab pro-Israel changing hearts and minds of non Jews and gathering support for Israel throughout the world.

To let all the above go unnoticed; to bad mouth and condemn someone who is laying her life on the line while Israel has few friends; and to stand up and support the Jewish people is such a shame. And being "slammed" is the return I get simply because someone asked for my personal opinion about Obama? I am glad to say that since this Obama brouhaha, I have received three different invitations from Jewish organizations across the country in less than a week.

The Jewish leadership of the UJC and JTA went out of their way to publicly malign the only pro-Israel Arab/Terrorism Expert with such media reach. Last year I reached over one hundred million Americans with my pro-Israel message as a non-Jew, something not one Jewish organization has even come close to.

With actions like these from the Jewish leadership is it any wonder why the Arabs and Palestinians were able to re-write history while the Jews failed miserably in the PR department."

Dichter Caught Fleeing Kassam on Camera

(IsraelNN.com) Public Security Minister Avi Dichter was rushed to an outdoor bomb shelter by his security guards when a "color red" alarm sounded during his visit to Sderot today. The event was caught on videotape and has been shown repeatedly by the media.

Dichter was in the middle of a sentence about "the true Zionists" when the "color red" warning sounded. His bodyguard grabbed his elbow and began pulling him toward the shelter. Dichter seemed to break into a trot for a second, and then slowed down to a brisk walk until he reached the shelter a few meters away.

Amir Peretz was also caught on tape in a similar moment in a visit to Sderot during his tenure as defense minister. His bodyguard, too, was wounded in a rocket attack, as was one of Dichter's bodyguards today.

Eight Long-range Grad Missiles Hit Ashkelon

(IsraelNN.com) Eight Katyusha style Grad missiles rocked the center of Ashkelon on Thursday afternoon. Some of the rockets landed near the central bus station.

Magen David Adom reported that 40 people were taken to the hospital to be treated for shock.

Since 7:00am, Magen David Adom has evacuated 64 people from the Ashkelon-Sderot region to the hospital as a result of rocket attacks.

(IsraelNN.com) 70-year-old Woman Injured in Rocket Attack
A 70-year old woman suffered light shrapnel injuries after a Kassam rocket hit a house and vehicles in Sderot, earlier this hour. Several people also suffered from shock. Magen David emergency services transported the victim to the Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon.

The IDF spokesman says that 24 Kassam rockets and mortar shells were fired today from Gaza. Over 900 rockets have been launched at Sderot since January.

Dichter Rejects Takeover of Gaza, Urges Policy Change

(IsraelNN.com) Public Security Minister Avi Dichter (Kadima), speaking during a tour of Sderot, rejected calls for a large-scale invasion aimed at taking over Gaza. "Whoever talks about entering and occupying the Gaza Strip, these are populist ideas which I don't connect to, and in my opinion, no intelligent person does, either," he commented.

Wounded Rocket Victim Is Guard for Dichter

(IsraelNN.com) The person who suffered shrapnel wounds from a Kassam rocket attack several minutes ago has been identified as one of the personal bodyguards for Public Security Minister Avi Dichter, who is touring Sderot at this hour. Voice of Israel government radio explained that he was not required to be at the minister's side all the time and arrived at the college by himself.

The guard was rushed to Barzilai Hospital in Asheklon, where he was listed in good condition. One other person was treated for shock at the scene of the explosion.

Rice Condemns Rocket Attacks, Objects to Retaliation

(IsraelNN.com) American Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, at a meeting with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert in Japan, said that the Kassam rocket attacks against Israel "need to stop" but said that Israeli retaliation is not the solution. Reacting to the death of one Israeli in one of the 40 attacks on the Negev and southern Ashkelon Wednesday, she told the Prime Minister she was sorry about the fatality.

Secretary Rice also expressed her "concern for the innocent people and the humanitarian situation in Gaza." She also praised Prime Minister Olmert and Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas for their "remarkable commitment" in trying to advance negotiations towards the creation of a new Arab state within the current borders of Israel.

She is due to arrive Sunday and remain until Thursday, American State Department spokesman Tom Casey told reporters at a news briefing in Washington Wednesday.

Her trip will come as Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists escalate their rocket attacks on the Negev. Longer-range rockets hit Ashkelon Wednesday evening, exploding near Barzilai Hospital. Responding to a journalist's question on Wednesday's Kassam attack that killed one Israeli, Casey said, "There always are going to be things that will happen that will try and distract or sideline parts of these discussions. But the important thing is that in President Abbas and Prime Minister Olmert, we have two leaders who are committed to moving forward on what is a very difficult set of negotiations to resolve this longstanding problem and bring about a two-state solution."

Report: Hamas Refused to Meet With Israelis

(IsraelNN.com) The Arabic daily Al-Sharq Al-Awsat has reported that Hamas rejected an initiative in which Hamas leaders would have held unofficial meetings with senior Israelis. The initiative was suggested by Israel as a way of reaching an agreement while avoiding direct talks with the Hamas terror gang, which does not recognize Israel and is responsible for several recent attacks.

European diplomats have been pushing for a ceasefire agreement that would allow for the reopening of Gaza crossings, the paper reported. A senior British official reportedly met with Hamas leaders recently to discuss the matter. Israeli officials have repeatedly stated that there is no need to negotiate a ceasefire, as Gaza crossings will open and IDF operations in Gaza will stop when Hamas stops rocket attacks on Israeli towns.

PM Olmert Says it's 'War', Promises Restraint

(IsraelNN.com) Prime Minister Ehud Olmert called the situation in southern Israel a "war" as the IDF struck several terrorist targets in Gaza overnight.

Olmert met with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice Wednesday night in Tokyo, telling her, "The Palestinian are trying our patience." The statements came after some 50 rockets were fired at Israel, including one that killed 47-year old Roni Yihye, a student at the town's Sapir college. A powerful Grad missile was also fired at Ashkelon.

Olmert commented on the situation while visiting the factory of the Nissan car company in Tokyo. "We are in the midst of warfare and we will continue fighting until the danger looming over the residents of the south will cease to exist," he said." This is a long, painful process, but we do not have any magic solution to make it cease it in one day. We get hit, and hit back even harder."

Rice expressed concern for the humanitarian situation in Gaza. The PM assured Rice publicly, at a press conference following the meeting, that Israel would continue to act with restraint. "We will make terrorists pay a heavy price, but we will not make exaggerated statements," he said.

Meanwhile, Mahmoud Abbas - Israel's partner in peace talks and the head of Fatah and the Palestinian Authority - took the opposite approach. "I do not rule out a return to the way of armed struggle against Israel," he told the Jordanian newspaper A-Doustour on Wednesday night.

Israel filed an official complaint with the United Nations regarding the latest barrage of rockets.

Archaeologists Find Stamps with Hebrew Names

(IsraelNN.com) Archaeologists found a stamp bearing the Hebrew name "Refayahu ben Shalem" in Jerusalem on Wednesday. The stamp was found during excavations in the City of David. Archaeologists believe it was created around the year 800 B.C.E.

The excavators found three other stamps as well. The stamps, made of tin, bore Hebrew names and appear to have been used by local authorities to approve merchandise.

The MK's assistant, Yitzhak Avidani, felt ill after opening the envelope and received medical treatment.

Knesset security personnel are investigating the incident.

"We received an envelope from abroad containing white powder," Avidani said, "I opened it and there was a lot of powder inside. I saw stars ad almost fainted."

Knesset security was greatly concerned with the possibility of such an incident following the terror attacks in the United States back in 2001. Several Anthrax scares were noted overseas at the time and the Knesset's chief security officer warned ministers, MKs and parliament employees of suspicious envelopes.

Benizri stirred controversy when he said that the recent earthquake that was felt across Israel was the result of the "homosexual activity practiced in the country.

"The Gemara mentions a number of causes of earthquakes, one of which is homosexuality, which the Knesset legitimizes," he said.

(IsraelNN.com) Terrorist attacks on the western Negev continued on Wednesday night with a mortar shell attack on the Kerem Shalom crossing and four rocket attacks near Ashkelon. No one was injured in the mortar attack.

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who is currently visiting Japan, was updated by phone regarding the barrage of rockets on Sderot and surrounding towns and the death of a Sapir College student in a rocket attack. Sources close to Olmert said the rocket attacks were a response to an IAF strike that killed five Hamas terrorists near Khan Yunis on Wednesday morning. "We have already said that there is a war going on in the south," they said.

(IsraelNN.com) Israeli authorities have placed several signs near the Atarot area in northern Jerusalem recently warning travelers, "You are entering territory under the control of the Palestinian Authority. Israelis are absolutely forbidden to enter!" Approximately 25,000 residents of Jerusalem, some of them Israeli citizens, live in the areas now designated as PA territory.

Jerusalem Forum chairman Aryeh King said Wednesday that approximately 1,200 dunams of property owned by Jews were located beyond the signs. The government violated laws regarding Jerusalem by putting up the signs, King said. The signs prove the government is acting to make its policy of splitting Jerusalem a reality, he said.

King said he plans to lead a tour on Thursday in areas that fall within the municipal boundaries of Jerusalem but are in practice controlled by the Palestinian Authority. The tour will begin at the Kalandia checkpoint at 12 p.m. and end in the biblical village of Mitzpa.

The sentence of Yisrael Perry, an attorney convicted of defrauding Holocaust survivors of almost NIS 1 billion, will be postponed until a decision is made on whether to allow him to appeal his sentence, Army Radio reported Wednesday.

Earlier this month, Perry was sentenced to 12 years in prison after six years of legal battles.

A Hamas-run children's TV program aired recently encouraging hatred of Denmark, the West and Israel. The show's star, a rabbit named Assud, threatens to "bite and eat" the Danish if they republish cartoons of Islam's founder, Mohammed.

"If they repeat it we will kill them," Assud explains to the young viewers. "I will bite them and eat them!"

The program focuses on the call to boycott Danish and Israeli products. "Denmark and the West are targeted because of the Mohammad cartoons in a Danish newspaper," Palestinian Media Watch Director Itamar Marcus points out in a recent dispatch. "Israel is targeted because it exists."

Saraa, the young TV hostess of the program, describes the publication of the Muhammad cartoons as "the West's attack against [Mohammed]." The program then features children phoning into the program to condemn the "cowardly infidels" and vow to fight them.

"The children's show, Tomorrow's Pioneers, has used its previous animal character co-hosts, the Mickey Mouse lookalike Farfur and the bee Nahul, to champion violence, promote hatred of Israel and preach about world Islamic supremacy," Marcus said. "To further reinforce its anti-Israel message, Hamas has killed off both characters and blamed Israel."

Livni To Jewish Agency: Israel Must Give Up Land to PA

(IsraelNN.com) Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Tzipi Livni told a meeting of the Jewish Agency for Israel that the Jewish State will be forced to give away parts of Israel.

"I don't know how long the [peace] process will last, but we will definitely have to cede certain parts of the Land of Israel," she told the agency's board of trustees in Jerusalem on Tuesday.

Livni is service as acting Prime Minister while Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is away on a four-day working trip to Japan. She is also the chief negotiator for Israel in talks with the Palestinian Authority in discussions meant to reach a final status agreement.

 that "the ideal rodenticide has been deemed as being odorless, tasteless and 
inevitably fatal, although it should be slow acting in order that all rodents

     He continues that "the symptoms of acute poisoning should be absent, to 
 avoid bait shyness, and the manner of death should be such that no suspicions 
are aroused in the rodent population surviving." 
 
     This same non-suspicious reaction is present in tobacco smokers. 

     William Hallenbeck and Kathleen Cunningham-Burns in Pesticides and Human 
Health (p. 15) state that Warfarin and coumarin-like compounds are 
 "anticoagulants and antimetabolites of vitamin K and inhibit the synthesis of 
prothrombin (the clotting agent in blood). They explain that "repeated 
exposure is usually required for damage to occur," and that "numerous small 
 exposures may be more damaging than one large dose" They also say that "since 
the rodents do not develop bait shyness they are fed to capacity until death."

(IsraelNN.com) The public is requested to pray for a full and speedy recovery of Talia bat Yehudit Shlomit, who was critically injured in a gas explosion at her home in Maon, in the southern Hevron Hills. She tried to light the gas heater after returning from a memorial ceremony for her brother and his wife, who were killed a year ago in a traffic accident.

The huge blast left her with burns over most of her body. Her husband, Avichai ben Rivka, also was severely injured but managed to take their two young children outside through a window. They also suffered burns. Talia is the daughter of Rabbi Danny Stitskin, formerly of New York and who is the rabbi of Maon.

Well, there's not enough information given to answer the question!

The almost 3 months of imprisonment without trial for Tzvia, whose story appeared here last week, is finally being brought before a judge, tomorrow, Wednesday, 27 Feb, 2:30 PM. Anyone who can come and be a spectator would be extremely welcome since this is a great help as well as encouragement to Tzvia who is only 18 years old. The Kfar Saba Shalom courthouse (the old one) is a few minutes walk from Tsomet Raanana, backing the Kfar Saba police station. Ask for the courtroom of Judge Nava Bechor. Expect the fantasy mongerers in the mainstream media to continue to scrub and whitewash (no pun) Hussein Obama's Islamic bonafides. The rabid fervor by the leftarded lemmings is Hitleresque.

It is a clear demonstration that the collective efforts of Muslim institution building over the last 20 years have largely failed to make any real progress when it comes to impacting the American political process, at least at the national level. Muslims have found the perfect candidate, but cannot vocally support him for fear that if they do, they may be the reason he loses.

If Muslims do not want to suffer the indignation of political irrelevance for many elections to come, instead of giving money to politicians, they should start investing in journalism scholarships. They should establish fellowships for Muslim academics to take a year off and write a book for a general audience, and then back them up with a PR firm to get the book on a best seller list.

Muslim have invested in a handful of advocacy groups that, to their credit, work extremely hard to bring a "Muslim" slant to whatever breaks in the news that day.

Sorry,

I am not feeling well today, and won't be posting. I just went to the Shloshim of my friend Shani, who died of cancer at a young age, and I am just beat. Thanks to everybody for their good words, support. This time I am out! If you want to post, please do, I'll go over it, and do a little bit of editing after the fact. But please do. Any article you think is worth posting and fits the general guidelines of the blog is OK, thoughts, etc.

Hopefully will find my strength back soon.

Dear All,

A light went on in my brain today, as I hope it also will in yours, after you read this.

As I was writing yesterday and today about Olmert, and as we were exchanging articles referring to his performance as MAYOR of Jerusalem from 1993 on, in which people well acquainted with him clearly stated that , while he PROFESSED to advance the interests of the Jewish population in Jerusalem, IN FACT, he was ADVANCING NON -JEWISH interests, actually making sure that ARABS would BUILD ILLEGALLY huge amounts of homes, I finally understood the whole scenario.

Please read the articles I posted today and yesterday for reference, specially the ones dealing with Jerusalem, Olmert, etc.

Let's look at the events chronologically.

A.1. 1992: EHUD OLMERT OBTAINS CFR MEMBERSHIP.

As a reminder, the CFR, the Council on Foreign Relations, is THE American body with the most influence on the Administration's actions, and ITSELF is being DIRECTLY INFLUENCED by the VATICAN. It is the USA representative of the NEW WORLD ORDER.

So, as we said, Ehud Olmert becomes a full-fledged member of that organization.

2. The same year, the very beginnings of the Oslo Accords take shape. That is the year that a n umber of Israeli politicians make contact with the ILLEGAL ORGANIZATION of the PLO, attempting to draw them back here.

3. That same year, the negotiations between the Vatican and Israel start behind the scenes.

Something is definitely brewing in Israel in 1992, albeit UNDER THE TABLE. That is the very year that Olmert is being drawn into the CFR.

B. 1993:

1. Olmert is elected as mayor of Jerusalem.

2. The Oslo accords are signed in September, INCLUDING THE SECRET CLAUSES OF THE AGREEMENT, WHICH CALL FOR MURDER OF SETTLER LEADERS.(Yossi Beilin, Ron Pundak, Shimon Peres)

3. The Fundamental Agreement between the Vatican and Israel is signed, with the Vatican recognizing Israel in exchange for receiving Jerusalem in return.

4. At the same time, an AGREEMENT between ARAFAT and the VATICAN is signed, in which the Vatican gives the PA a large part of Jerusalem in exchange for a returen of what ir considers its properties.,

From that time on, The Arabs start to build in Jerusalem more and more, UNDER OLMERT.

Fast forward, past Rabin's murder, past Sharon's almost murder.....

2005. New Pope, installed, April 19, 2005.

2006: New government of Ehud Olmert in Israel; Within a week, Shimon Peres goes to visit the Pope, taking with him a SECRET LETTER FROM OLMERT. ( nobody has EVER FOUND OUT WHAT OLMERT PROMISED IN THAT LETTER!).

By the way, Shimon Peres, against all odds, has a MAJOR ROLE in this Kadima government obtained by rather illegal means, with collusion of the AG, friend of Yossi Beilin.

2007: ( November) Shimon Peres elected President . First person he visits is THE POPE AT THE VATICAN.

So here we are, with the EXACT SAME PLAYERS AS WERE PRESENT IN 1992, THE YEAR THE OSLO ACCORDS WERE CONCEIVED.

SO WHAT HAPPENED?

IT APPEARS THAT OLMERT WAS ELECTED BECAUSE HE WAS A CFR MEMBER, OR ALTERNATIVELY, BECAUSE IT APPEARED THAT HE WOULD BECOME MAYOR, HE WAS MADE INTO A CFR MEMBER.

SHIMON PERES AND YOSSI BEILIN WERE PART OF THE DEAL, AS WAS THE VATICAN, AND ARAFAT.

USELESS, ISRAELI PRIME MINISTERS WHO WOULDN'T BUDGE ON JERUSALEM ( I.E. RABIN AND SHARON ) WERE PROPERLY DISPOSED OF, WHILE BIBI, HIMSELF A CFR MEMBER,. WAS LET BE, AS HEAD OF THE "OPPOSITION".

AND SO, THROUGH MURDER AND MACHINATION, TRAITOR OLMERT, AND TRAITOR SHIMON PERES, ARE BACK AT IT TOGETHER. THIS TIME WITHOUT ANY OBSTACLES LEFT/. THE OBSTACLES ARE DEAD, JERUSALEM HAS BEEN THOROUGHLY BUILT-UP AS AN ARAB CITY. ALL OF ISRAEL IS TURNING INTO AN ARAB PROVINCE. GUSH KATIF IS GONE, YESHA IS NEXT ON THE TABLE, THE ARABS HAVE NO MORE FEAR, THE TROJAN HORSES ARE OUR GOVERNMENT, THE POLICE, THE SHABAK AND THE ARMY ARE TOTALLY UNDER THEIR CONTROL, THEY CAN DO AS THEY PLEASE, WHICH IS TO GIVE JERUSALEM TO THE VATICAN ON A SILVER PLATTER, ALL THE WHILE STATING THAT NO AGREEMENTS ARE TAKING PLACE.

(IsraelNN.com) Justice Minister Daniel Friedmann stood behind his earlier statements, in which he said that Israel was in a better position defending itself before international bodies than in the Supreme Court.

"What I said was true," he told Yediot Acharonot. "One can even compare the High Court to the Security Council, the only UN body that has operative authority. The High Court issues decrees. It commands the government what to do and not to do."

"The Security Council does not give us commands," he said. "The High Court gives commands every day. One day it outlaws the "neighbor procedure," another day it decides what the [security] fence's route will be. Do this, do that."

"In fact, it is behaving like a party with a religious character. It does things that I do not believe any Western court would dare do: it disseminates propaganda, lobbies journalists and Knesset members, had meetings with Knesset members.

"The lobby hurts the court's neutrality. There is a situation in which some parties are with it and some are not. Then these parties file petitions to the High Court," he said, presumably hinting that the outcome of the petitions is connected with the degree of favor the parties enjoy in the court's eyes.

Officials in the Bush administration recently have expressed concern over the effects of Israel's restrictions of movement of goods through Gaza crossings. The government has limited the flow of supplies and often has closed the crossings because of continuing rocket attacks, some of which have come dangerously close to strategic sites in the port city of Ashkelon.

Doublethink is the act of simultaneously and fervently holding two mutually contradictory beliefs. It is an integral concept of George Orwell's dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four.

According to the novel, doublethink is:

The power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them . . . . To tell deliberate lies while genuinely believing in them, to forget any fact that has become inconvenient, and then, when it becomes necessary again, to draw it back from oblivion for just so long as it is needed, to deny the existence of objective reality and all the while to take account of the reality which one denies — all this is indispensably necessary. Even in using the word doublethink it is necessary to exercise doublethink. For by using the word one admits that one is tampering with reality; by a fresh act of doublethink one erases this knowledge; and so on indefinitely, with the lie always one leap ahead of the truth.^[1]

Another quotation from the novel, when Winston starts thinking about doublethink while exercising:

His mind slid away into the labyrinthine world of doublethink. To know and not to know, to be conscious of complete truthfulness while telling carefully-constructed lies, to hold simultaneously two opinions which cancelled out, knowing them to be contradictory and believing in both of them; to use logic against logic, to repudiate morality while laying claim to it, to believe that democracy was impossible and that the Party was the guardian of democracy; to forget whatever it was necessary to forget, then to draw it back at the moment when it was needed, and then promptly to forget it again: and above all, to apply the same process to the process itself. That was the ultimate subtlety: consciously to induce unconsciousness, and then, once again, to become unconscious of the act of hypnosis you had just performed. Even to understand the word 'doublethink' involved using doublethink.^[1]

Orwell explains that the Party could not protect its iron power without degrading its people with constant propaganda. Yet, knowledge of this brutal deception, even within the Inner Party itself, could lead to disgusted collapse of the State from within. For this reason, the government uses a complex system of reality control. Though Nineteen Eighty-Four is most famous for the Party's pervasive surveillance of everyday life, reality control means that the population of Oceania — all of it, including the ruling élite — could be controlled and manipulated merely through the alteration of everyday thought and language. Newspeak is the method for controlling thought through language; doublethink is the method of directly controlling thought.

Newspeak incorporated doublethink, as it contains many words that create assumed associations, between contradictory meanings, especially true of fundamentally important words, such as good and evil; right and wrong; truth and falsehood; justice and injustice.

Doublethink is a form of trained, willful intellectual blindness to contradictions in a belief system. Doublethink differs from ordinary hypocrisy in that the "doublethinking" person deliberately had to forget the contradiction between his two opposing beliefs — and then deliberately forget that he had forgotten the contradiction. He then had to forget the forgetting of the forgetting, and so on; this intentional forgetting, once begun, continues indefinitely. In the novel's notes, Orwell describes it as "controlled insanity".

In the case of workers at the Records Department in the Ministry of Truth, doublethink means being able to falsify public records, and then believe in the new history that they, themselves, had just written. As revealed in Goldstein's Book, the Ministry's name is itself an example of doublethink: the Ministry of Truth is really concerned with lies.

Moreover, doublethink's self-deception allows the Party to maintain huge goals and realistic expectations: If one is to rule, and to continue ruling, one must be able to dislocate the sense of reality. For the secret of rulership is to combine a belief in one's own infallibility with the power to learn from past mistakes. Thus, each Party member could be a credulous pawn, but would never lack relevant information. The Party is both fanatical and well-informed, thus unlikely either to "ossify" or "grow soft" and collapse. Doublethink would avoid a "killing the messenger" attitude that could disturb the Command structure. Thus, doublethink is the key tool of self-discipline for the Party, complementing the state-imposed discipline of propaganda, and the police state. Together, these tools hid the government's evil not just from the people, but from the government itself, but without the confusion and misinformation associated with primitive totalitarian regimes.

Doublethink is critical in allowing the Party to know what its true goals are without recoiling from them, avoiding the conflation of a regime's egalitarian propaganda with its true purpose.

The Muslim Arabs blame the Jews for tunneling under the Temple Mount which they claim caused a small cave in. This happened after an earthquake (one of G-d's wonders) epi-centered in northeastern Lebanon measuring 5.3 on the Richter Scale, shook the Jerusalem area at 12.37 PM Friday February 15^th. The only damage reported in Israel was this hole on the Temple Mount and in Shechem (Nablus) the site of Joseph's Tomb which the Muslims destroyed in October 2000 (after then Prime Minister Ehud Barak ordered a unilateral retreat. He also left a wounded soldier to bleed to death, a Druze named +Madhat Yusuf - Joseph in Arabic). The Muslims burnt the holy books, destroyed the tomb and painted the dome green - the color of Islam and declared the Jewish Shrine to be Islamic and Joseph to be Muslim.

I agree with the Muslims that Jews, or at least this Jew, may have been responsible for the hole in the floor of the Temple Mount Plaza. NO. It wasn't any Jewish tunneling, although the Arab Wakf have been evacuating Solomon's Stables to create another huge mosque underground, resulting in the weakening of the retaining walls that hold up the Temple Plaza.

I have prayed to G-d for a long time to produce an earthquake that would turn the Golden Dome of the Rock and the Al Aksa Mosque into rubble. Pagan temples built on top of the Holy of Holies has been an affront to G-d and long overdue for cleansing.

In fact, I also lobbied G-d to flatten Teheran , Damascus, Bagdad, Riyadh, Cairo, Mecca, Medina, 'et al' with a shift of His tectonic Earth plates. I didn't neglect to petition for the European nations who assisted in the Holocaust and have presently joined the Muslim Arab oil Terrorist nations in their efforts to wipe out Israel as they so threaten.

I am sure many others have asked G-d for all of the above and more.

So, we can agree that the hole that came from the earthquake was the fault of the Jews. I certainly made the request. Didn't you?

Israel on Thursday rejected claims by senior PA officials that it has reneged on a promise to allow the reopening of Palestinian institutions in east Jerusalem this month.

Two weeks ago, the Interior Ministry renewed a 2001 decree that shut down Orient House, a building north of Jerusalem's Old City that once served as the PLO's local headquarters. The center was ordered closed during the second intifada, along with the Arab Chambers of Commerce.

The decree's renewal was slammed on Thursday by an adviser to Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salaam Fayad, who said Prime Minister Ehud Olmert had made a commitment to the Palestinians and to US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to allow the buildings to reopen. "This is not a good sign for the peace process," the adviser said.

Speaking to The Jerusalem Post, a senior Israeli official dismissed the allegation, saying that there was "no change in the longstanding policy [to keep the centers shut]."

A Jerusalem Police spokesman told the Post that officers made routine visits to Orient House and other Palestinian centers in order to enforce the decree, adding that no illegal activities were found during the patrols.

"Nothing is happening there," the spokesman said. "Since its closure in 2001, Orient House has remained shut with no one arriving at the site."

The closure has led to a dramatic reduction in anti-Israeli activity in east Jerusalem, and an increase in security in the Old City, according to Brig.-Gen. (res.) Shalom Harari, a former senior adviser on Palestinian affairs at the Defense Ministry.

"Since its closure, the Palestinians have been mourning the loss of Orient House, and say they have lost the center of their revolutionary zeal in Jerusalem," Harari told the Post. Addressing the Palestinian claim that Olmert had vowed to allow the building to reopen, Harari said," I don't know if such a promise was made, but if it was, it was made secretly, because nothing has been made public about such a commitment."

During the Oslo peace process, Orient House acted as "an organizing factor" for riots and demonstrations, Harari said.

"We allowed the PLO to operate in Jerusalem during the 1990s, but not the Palestinian Authority," he said, adding that Orient House was quickly infiltrated by PA elements who turned it into a kind of "extraterritorial embassy."

"It began issuing land rights, settling civil disputes - it became an institution," Harari said. "Police were afraid to enter or search it, and Orient House enjoyed an informal diplomatic immunity status."

"The shutting down of Orient House was the end result of a long effort by right-wing Knesset Members, led by [then-Public Security Minister] Uzi Landau, who said that Orient's use as a PA base was a violation of Oslo. They said an entity within an entity was being created," Harari said.

"After a major suicide bombing, Landau effectively forced the police to close it down," Harari said, adding that police did not at first wish to raid the center due to fears of a violent backlash, which never materialized.

Following the raid, the center's archives were confiscated, and many documents surfaced that vindicated the claims of Knesset members who had sought to close the center down, Harari said.

"I can say that closing down Orient House was one of main acts that caused a reduction in open anti-Israeli activity in Jerusalem," he said.

Israeli Materials Found in Gaza Rocket Factories

(IsraelNN.com) Materials produced in Israel have been found in rocket-making factories in Gaza, according to Channel 2 News. Among the materials found was fertilizer, which terrorists used to make explosives.

Sources quoted in the report said that the issue of Israeli products being used in terrorism was known to security forces. Israel has closed its crossings with Gaza to everything but food and humanitarian supplies, but other goods still enter the area, most of them from Egypt.

Israel denies Orient House promise

Israel on Thursday rejected claims by senior PA officials that it has reneged on a promise to allow the reopening of Palestinian institutions in east Jerusalem this month.

Speaking to The Jerusalem Post, a senior Israeli official dismissed the allegation, saying that there was "no change in the longstanding policy [to keep the centers shut]."

"Nothing is happening there," the spokesman said. "Since its closure in 2001, Orient House has remained shut with no one arriving at the site."

During the Oslo peace process, Orient House acted as "an organizing factor" for riots and demonstrations, Harari said.

Following the raid, the center's archives were confiscated, and many documents surfaced that vindicated the claims of Knesset members who had sought to close the center down, Harari said.

Israel Opposed US Lawmakers' Offer to Move Embassy to J'lem

(IsraelNN.com) Former Israeli Consul General to the US Yoram Ettinger revealed at the Jerusalem Conference Wednesday that Israel prevented a move that would have relocated the US Embassy to Jerusalem.

"The US Senate was ready to do away with the waiver that allows the president to defer the moving of the embassy to Jerusalem," Ettinger said during a round-table discussion at the Jerusalem Conference. "There were over 80 senators – enough to override any [presidential] veto."

It was the Israeli government, Ettinger said, who intervened on behalf of leaving the Embassy in Tel Aviv. "The problem is that both houses of congress have been firmer on Jerusalem than any Israeli government since 1993."

Ettinger did not elaborate which Israeli government it was that told Congress to stand down.

History of the Act and Waiver
US Congress overwhelmingly approved the Jerusalem Embassy Relocation Act in 1995, mandating that the Embassy be moved from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem by May 1999 and that the US recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

Currently, all the nations with which Israel has diplomatic relations refuse to recognize Israel's Basic Law designating Jerusalem as the capital of the Jewish State.

Former US President Bill Clinton, who promised in both of his presidential campaigns to move the embassy, signed successive six-month security waivers, thus passing on the "hot potato" to his successor.

During the 2000 election campaign, US President George W. Bush pledged that if he was elected, he would "begin the process" of moving the embassy to Jerusalem on his "first day in office." He has not done so, however - invoking the waver for the 13th time on December 12, 2007.

After the failed Camp David talks in July 2000, Clinton suggested in an interview with Israeli television that he was considering moving the US Embassy to Jerusalem. "I have always wanted to do it. I've always thought it was the right thing to do. But I didn't want to do anything to undermine the peace process ... But it's something that I have taken under review now because of the recent events," Clinton told the Israeli public. In reaction, Hizbullah terror chief Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah threatened the US that he would "turn your embassy into rubble and return your diplomats in coffins."

Ettinger: Defiance Sometimes Needed in US-Israel Relations
"[Israel's first prime minister, David] Ben Gurion defied the UN, the US and Europe by building on the Green Line in Jerusalem," Ettinger said. "[His successor] Levi Eshkol decided to build satellite neighborhoods, knowing full well that they included Arab neighborhoods within the future municipal boundaries.

The true demographic threat in Jerusalem is the freezing of Jewish building and the limitations placed on the natural growth of the capital by diplomatic initiatives, Ettinger explained. "[Eshkol] realized that unless you expand the border of Jerusalem, including Arab neighborhoods – you wont have the area required to allow Jerusalem to expand. Without building to the east, it is impossible to reverse the trend of Jewish emigration from the capital."

Group of Palestinian inmates escape from Nablus prison

A group of 14 wanted Palestinians incarcerated in a Nablus prison as part of an agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, escaped on Thursday.

Among the fugitives is Mahadi Abu Rizala, a prominent the al-Aqsa Martyr's Brigades operative. The men who escaped were seeking to protest the conditions of their imprisonment, which they say have not improved despite promises made by the PA.

Since their escape the wanted men have been negotiating with security officials in the West Bank city, who are demanding that the fugitives give themselves up immediately.

The prisoners were recently pardoned by Israel as part of an agreement with the Palestinian Authority in which wanted al-Aqsa gunmen began a three-month probation period, which ended last October, and those who were not involved in terrorist activities were subsequently removed from Israel's list of wanted Palestinians.

As part of the agreement several of the wanted men continued to be detained at Palestinian security services headquarters while a second group was transferred to the PA's security facility in Jericho and a third group was taken to the Jenaid prison in Nablus.

Wanted Terrorists Escape from PA Jail

(IsraelNN.com) A group of wanted terrorists escaped from a Palestinian Authority prison in Shechem on Thursday. The terrorists, members of Fatah's Al Aksa Martyrs Brigade, apparently managed to escape with help from police officers who were responsible for guarding the prison complex.

The terrorists entered prison one and a half months ago after agreeing to be arrested by the PA. The PA has fought terrorism in Shechem by putting wanted terrorists in prison for three months and then releasing them and recruiting them to the PA security forces.

The prisoners now say the deal is off, and refuse to return to jail. They are expected to hold a press conference in the near future.

Eldad Asks Mazuz to Call Off 'Pursuit' of Right-Wingers

(IsraelNN.com) MK Aryeh Eldad (NU-NRP) accused Israel's judicial branch Thursday of persecuting three right-wing activists currently in Israeli jails and called on Attorney General Menachem Mazuz to call off what he described as a "pursuit."

Eldad visited Mordechai and Elitzur Levenstein, incarcerated at the Ayalon Prison for protesting the 2005 Gaza Disengagement Plan, and with 18-year-old Tzvia Sariel, imprisoned at the Neve Tirtza Women's Prison for allegedly throwing a rock at local Arabs near her home in Elon Moreh. Following the visit he had harsh words for the judicial establishment.

"It is not a crime in Israel not to recognize the authority of the court. But the state prosecutor's office and the courts strike a severe blow to the principles of natural justice in order to break their spirits (of potential anti-government protesters – ed.) and to discourage others from taking part in the struggle for the Land of Israel. A country that has to jail a young lady while an investigation against her is still underway is a country that blatantly violates the most basic of human rights."

As you may know the Government of Israel has cut funding to schools so drastically that Talmud Torah and other religious schools, especially in outlying areas, are so far into debt they may have to close their doors.

For example, the school in Bat Ayin with around 160 children in grades 1 through 8 is about to close its doors. Three of these children are the orphans of Erez Levanon who was murdered about one year ago.

The Bat Ayin Talmud Torah needs $130-150,000 for this year and a similar amount for next year to assure that the school will stay open next year. If it, Has v'Shalom, is closes, the children will be scattered and be forced onto armored buses to drive long hours on dangerous roads. Bullet proof buses are no guarantee against road-side bombs.

(IsraelNN.com) MK Rabbi Michael Melchior (Labor-Meimad) had advance warning that Gaza terrorists planned to blow apart the international border with Egypt in late January but failed to pass the information on to security officials, Army Radio reported Thursday.

More than 500,000 Arabs crossed from Gaza to Sinai during a week-long period in which there was no functional border, and security officials believe Hamas imported vast quantities of quality weaponry and ammunition through the open border. They estimate the arms include anti-tank weaponry, RPGs, rifles, bomb-making equipment and more.

Former Shin Bet Security Chief Yaakov Peri defended Melchior, saying advance warning of the breach would not have made any difference to Israel's reaction to the incident. "Let's say we'd known 48 hours in advance. What, exactly, would we have done differently?"

(IsraelNN.com) The Movement for Quality Government in Israel has asked the Supreme Court to force President Shimon Peres to allow State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss access to the president's official residence in Jerusalem.

Peres claims his diplomatic immunity as president includes immunity from the state comptroller's office, and said the president's office is currently considering bids for outside, independent auditors to monitor its finances.

Israeli law stipulates that all state institutions fall under the jurisdiction of the state comptroller.

Increase in Attacks on Yesha Roads

(IsraelNN.com) IDF sources said Thursday that terrorist groups had increased their efforts to attack Israeli drivers along roads in Judea and Samaria in 2008. The number of rock and Molotov cocktail attacks rose over the past two months, they said.

While the number of shooting attacks did not noticeably increase, there were two recent shooting attacks on buses near Shechem, and the terrorists who claimed responsibility for the attacks said they planned to carry out similar attacks in the near future. The areas with the highest number of attacks were the Azoun junction between Kvar Saba and Kedumim and the roads near the Arab village of Beit Omer, north of Hevron.

Lunar eclipse to occur Wednesday night

The last total lunar eclipse until 2010 occurs Wednesday night, with cameo appearances by Saturn and the bright star Regulus on either side of the veiled full moon.

Skywatchers viewing through a telescope will have the added treat of seeing Saturn's handsome rings.

Weather permitting, the total eclipse can be seen from North and South America. People in Europe and Africa will be able to see it high in the sky before dawn on Thursday.

As the moonlight dims — it won't go totally dark — Saturn and Regulus will pop out and sandwich the moon. Regulus is the brightest star in the constellation Leo.

Jack Horkheimer, host of the PBS show "Star Gazer," called the event "the moon, the lord of the rings and heart of the lion eclipse."

Wednesday's event will be the last total lunar eclipse until Dec. 20, 2010. Last year there were two.

The weather could be a spoiler for many in the United States. Cloudy skies are expected for most of the Western states with a chance of snow from the heartland to the East Coast, said Stuart Seto of the National Weather Service.

"It looks like it's going to be a hard one to spot," Seto said.

A total lunar eclipse occurs when the full moon passes into Earth's shadow and is blocked from the sun's rays that normally illuminate it. During an eclipse, the sun, Earth and moon line up, leaving a darkened moon visible to observers on the night side of the planet.

The moon doesn't go black because indirect sunlight still reaches it after passing through the Earth's atmosphere. Since the atmosphere filters out blue light, the indirect light that reaches the moon transforms it into a reddish or orange tinge, depending on how much dust and cloud cover are in the atmosphere at the time.

Wednesday's total eclipse phase will last nearly an hour. Earth's shadow is expected to blot out the moon beginning around 7 p.m. on the West Coast and 10 p.m. on the East Coast. West Coast skygazers will miss the start of the eclipse because it occurs before the moon rises.

Unlike solar eclipses which require protective eyewear, lunar eclipses are safe to view with the naked eye.

Later this year, in August, there will be a total solar eclipse and a partial lunar eclipse.

Israel, US discuss W. Bank NATO troops

The United States is reviewing the feasibility of deploying a NATO force in the West Bank as a way to ease IDF security concerns and facilitate an Israeli withdrawal from the area within the coming years, defense officials have told The Jerusalem Post.

The plan, which is being spearheaded by US Special Envoy to the region Gen. James Jones, is being floated among European countries, which could be asked to contribute troops to a West Bank multinational force.

Jones, a former commander of NATO, was sent to Israel in November to help the Israelis and Palestinians frame some of the security mechanics necessary for a broader peace agreement.

As first reported in the Post last month, Jones's plan calls for stationing third-party troops in the West Bank to secure the area in the interim period following an Israeli withdrawal and before the Palestinian Authority can take over full security control.

"The deployment of such a force has come up in talks, and Jones is known to be working on it," a senior defense official said Tuesday. "At the moment, it's just an idea and has yet to be accepted or adopted by Israel."

Defense Minister Ehud Barak has met with Jones and been briefed on the plan, but has yet to finalize his position. An official close to Barak said the deployment of a multinational force in the West Bank could create operational challenges for the IDF if it decided to respond to Palestinian terror attacks following the withdrawal.

One of the issues that most concerns Israel is whether under such a withdrawal, the IDF would retain its operational freedom in the West Bank despite the presence of the multinational force.

"If they fire a Kassam rocket into Israel, will we be able to respond, or will we need to rely on the foreign troops stationed there?" one defense official asked.

On Tuesday, US Ambassador to Israel Richard Jones hinted at the possibility of deploying an international force for the period following a withdrawal and until the PA could ensure security in the West Bank.

Speaking at a meeting of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, Jones also predicted that it would take several years before any such plan was implemented.

"I wish to inform you that the Spanish government has not considered or hinted in any way whatsoever at withdrawing the Spanish troops deployed in UNIFIL," Mirapeix said.

In the report, high-ranking defense officials expressed concern that the political deadlock in Lebanon and Hizbullah threats to renew hostilities with Israel could cause European countries to gradually begin reducing their participation in UNIFIL.

Spain, whose soldiers have come under repeated attacks by terrorists in Lebanon, was mentioned by the officials as a country that might be planning to withdraw its troops from UNIFIL, a move that could have a domino effect and topple the entire peacekeeping force.

Orlev said he intended to approach President Peres "in order to try and reach an understanding that will make it possible for Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss to carry out the review of the Presidential residence, as is customary in all government institutions."

(IsraelNN.com) President Shimon Peres has refused to cooperate with the office of State Comptroller and Ombudsman Micha Lindenstrauss, who told the Knesset State Control Committee Wednesday that he has unsuccessfully been trying to investigate the management of the President's office.

"It is a basic principle of democracy that no institution is above criticism," said Lindenstrauss, a former judge. He revealed that he met similar objections more than two years ago from former President Moshe Katzav. Judge Lindenstrauss maintained he will resume his examination on April 1, even if President Peres refuses to cooperate.

Olmert, Abbas, Decide to Speed Up Negotiations

(IsraelNN.com) Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, and top PA negotiator Ahmed Qurei (Abu Ala) met in Jerusalem on Tuesday to discuss ongoing negotiations between Israel and the PA. During the meeting, Olmert and Abbas agreed to speed up the negotiations process.

Spokesman Mark Regev said that negotiations teams would begin meeting on a near-daily basis. Israel will debate all "core issues," Regev said. Prior to the meeting, Olmert and senior PA officials had publicly disagreed over whether or not talks over the status of Jerusalem should be pushed off until after other subjects were resolved.

Wal-Mart apologizes to Muslim woman

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. apologized to a Muslim woman who said she was mocked because of her face veil.

"Please don't stick me up," a cashier told the shopper on Feb. 2, according to The Council on American-Islamic Relations.

Wal-Mart apologized Monday in a letter signed by Rolando Rodriquez, a vice president and regional general manager. It was released Tuesday by the council's Nevada chapter.

"I can assure you that the associate in question was disciplined in accordance with our employment policies as a result of the situation," Rodriguez said without disclosing details.

Rodriguez said employees at the Riverdale store would undergo "sensitivity training," specifically in the Islamic faith and Muslim culture.

At Wal-Mart headquarters in Bentonville, Ark., spokesman Phillip Keene confirmed the letter and declined further comment.

"We applaud Wal-Mart for taking appropriate action to resolve this incident," said Yasser Moten, executive director of the council's Nevada chapter. The group doesn't have an office in Utah.

A light went on in my brain today, as I hope it also will in yours, after you read this.

As I was writing yesterday and today about Olmert, and as we were exchanging articles referring to his performance as MAYOR of Jerusalem from 1993 on, in which people well acquainted with him clearly stated that , while he PROFESSED to advance the interests of the Jewish population in Jerusalem, IN FACT, he was ADVANCING NON -JEWISH interests, actually making sure that ARABS would BUILD ILLEGALLY huge amounts of homes, I finally understood the whole scenario.

Please read the articles I posted today and yesterday for reference, specially the ones dealing with Jerusalem, Olmert, etc.

Let's look at the events chronologically.

A.1. 1992: EHUD OLMERT OBTAINS CFR MEMBERSHIP.

As a reminder, the CFR, the Council on Foreign Relations, is THE American body with the most influence on the Administration's actions, and ITSELF is being DIRECTLY INFLUENCED by the VATICAN. It is the USA representative of the NEW WORLD ORDER.

So, as we said, Ehud Olmert becomes a full-fledged member of that organization.

2. The same year, the very beginnings of the Oslo Accords take shape. That is the year that a n umber of Israeli politicians make contact with the ILLEGAL ORGANIZATION of the PLO, attempting to draw them back here.

3. That same year, the negotiations between the Vatican and Israel start behind the scenes.

Something is definitely brewing in Israel in 1992, albeit UNDER THE TABLE. That is the very year that Olmert is being drawn into the CFR.

B. 1993:

1. Olmert is elected as mayor of Jerusalem.

2. The Oslo accords are signed in September, INCLUDING THE SECRET CLAUSES OF THE AGREEMENT, WHICH CALL FOR MURDER OF SETTLER LEADERS.(Yossi Beilin, Ron Pundak, Shimon Peres)

3. The Fundamental Agreement between the Vatican and Israel is signed, with the Vatican recognizing Israel in exchange for receiving Jerusalem in return.

4. At the same time, an AGREEMENT between ARAFAT and the VATICAN is signed, in which the Vatican gives the PA a large part of Jerusalem in exchange for a returen of what ir considers its properties.,

From that time on, The Arabs start to build in Jerusalem more and more, UNDER OLMERT.

Fast forward, past Rabin's murder, past Sharon's almost murder.....

2005. New Pope, installed, April 19, 2005.

2006: New government of Ehud Olmert in Israel; Within a week, Shimon Peres goes to visit the Pope, taking with him a SECRET LETTER FROM OLMERT. ( nobody has EVER FOUND OUT WHAT OLMERT PROMISED IN THAT LETTER!).

By the way, Shimon Peres, against all odds, has a MAJOR ROLE in this Kadima government obtained by rather illegal means, with collusion of the AG, friend of Yossi Beilin.

2007: ( November) Shimon Peres elected President . First person he visits is THE POPE AT THE VATICAN.

So here we are, with the EXACT SAME PLAYERS AS WERE PRESENT IN 1992, THE YEAR THE OSLO ACCORDS WERE CONCEIVED.

SO WHAT HAPPENED?

IT APPEARS THAT OLMERT WAS ELECTED BECAUSE HE WAS A CFR MEMBER, OR ALTERNATIVELY, BECAUSE IT APPEARED THAT HE WOULD BECOME MAYOR, HE WAS MADE INTO A CFR MEMBER.

SHIMON PERES AND YOSSI BEILIN WERE PART OF THE DEAL, AS WAS THE VATICAN, AND ARAFAT.

USELESS, ISRAELI PRIME MINISTERS WHO WOULDN'T BUDGE ON JERUSALEM ( I.E. RABIN AND SHARON ) WERE PROPERLY DISPOSED OF, WHILE BIBI, HIMSELF A CFR MEMBER,. WAS LET BE, AS HEAD OF THE "OPPOSITION".

AND SO, THROUGH MURDER AND MACHINATION, TRAITOR OLMERT, AND TRAITOR SHIMON PERES, ARE BACK AT IT TOGETHER. THIS TIME WITHOUT ANY OBSTACLES LEFT/. (IsraelNN.com) MK Otniel Schneller (Kadima) was hospitalized on Tuesday morning in the Hadassa Ein Karem Hospital in Jerusalem. Schneller was taken to the hospital after he reported feeling ill and dizzy.

Doctors said a series of tests had not revealed any problems, but that Schneller would remain in the hospital for observation. Minister of Culture and Sport Raleb Majadele (Labor) was recently hospitalized after feeling ill as well. Doctors discovered an aneurysm near his brain and conducted surgery.

(IsraelNN.com) The Palestinian Authority offers free housing in Hevron to Arabs who are willing to live near Jewish homes, according to the Bethlehem-based Maan news agency. The policy is apparently not new, and is meant to "stop Israeli settlement expansion."

Jews in Hevron face a severe housing shortage, and large families often live in caravans or small apartments. According to the Jordanian law practiced by the PA, any Arab who sells property to members of the growing Jewish community can be put to death.
